MY VOICE AND MY SUPPLICATIONS

Minister Lisa Kane

February 1, 2025

In My Voice and My Supplications, the focus is on the power of the spoken word in prayer. Drawing from Psalm 116, the teaching highlights the psalmist’s declaration of love for the Lord because He heard his voice and supplications. The lesson emphasizes that speaking out loud in prayer is an act of faith, releasing words that impact the atmosphere and invite God’s intervention.

Illustrations from scripture, such as Proverbs 15:23 and Isaiah 38 with King Hezekiah’s prayer, show how calling upon God with sincerity can bring deliverance, healing, and even a reversal of circumstances. The message also points out that both blessings and curses are carried by words, urging believers to choose life-giving speech.

Practical examples connect biblical truth to daily life—whether in times of crisis, sorrow, or everyday needs—teaching that God bends His ear to listen to His people. The teaching concludes with encouragement to continually confess God’s Word, apply it over every circumstance, and cultivate a lifestyle of prayer that brings joy, protection, and a deeper relationship with the Lord.

Objective:

The objective of this teaching is to help believers understand the spiritual importance of using their voice in prayer and supplication before God. By studying Psalm 116 and other supporting scriptures, the message encourages Christians to boldly speak the Word of God, call upon His name in faith, and recognize that God hears their prayers. The aim is to strengthen confidence in the spoken word as a tool of faith, intercession, and spiritual authority, leading to peace, joy, and trust in God’s deliverance.

Inspired Teaching - Written and/or Transcribed from Video Above:

Hello and welcome to the House of Faith Ministries. I'm Lisa Kan. I'm recording this teaching on February 1st, 2025. Welcome. Let's open up in a word of prayer. Father God, we thank you for your word. Your word does not return void. I bless your word. I bless the listeners who are hearing your word that their ears are open, their hearts are open, their minds are open, and they receive and they believe and they walk in the anointing of your Holy Spirit. I thank you for letting the word of God manifest in their spoken word that they're speaking scripture that they're blessing one another and they're giving you the glory. Thank you, Father God, for you truly are faithful and true. In the name of Jesus, we pray. Amen. Amen. I am so glad you can join me here today. This teaching is called my voice and my supplications. Let's go to Psalm 116:1. And it says, "I love." And that word love there means to have affection for the Lord because he had heard my voice. And the word voice is to call aloud and my supplications, which is your earnest prayer or you know you're in treating the Lord to listen to me, hear me. And this is what the psalmist is saying about this. He is saying, "I love I have affection for the Lord because he heard me." And and there's an act of faith in that hearing. This author, the psalmist here is saying, "You heard me, Lord, and I know you have. And because you have, I love you." And notice he has to speak out loud. We're talking about our spoken word today. My voice and my supplications. This is a time where we come before the Lord and we are earnest with our prayer. We actually lay our hearts out before him for whatever circumstance. And I've got a a biblical u example to show you. But sometimes like if you're dealing with a very emotional situation, you can just sob and weep and you can just say Lord and it just your spirit is calling out to the Lord. You can also um just give you know just come in and just start talking to the Lord. Even though let's say you're having your daily devotions, you are reading his scripture, but it's that moment when you come to him and you don't even know what to say. Oh, there's something about that and he does something and this psalmist is talking about it and he's saying, "I love the Lord because I know he heard me." Now, he's not saying he's getting his way or he's, you know, his answer or whatever is going to happen of whatever his circumstance. In fact, he doesn't even say his circumstance. He's simply saying, "I love the Lord because he heard me." So, understand this. When you call out loud, and I teach this, in fact, if you go to our empowering prayers section, every prayer starts off with say this out loud. Something about the spoken word is what affects everything around our atmosphere. So, let's go to Proverbs real quick. 15:23. It says, "A man hath joy uh or glee, gladness, mirth, pleasure by the answer or reply of his mouth, and a word spoken in due season. How good is it?" Let's talk about that for just a quick moment. So, here a man is facing a situation and what does he do? It says here he's got joy by the reply of his mouth. How did he reply to the situation? You know, I remember circumstances where, you know, in one particular uh event I fell and when I fell, you know, I kind of fell hard, but I got up and I said, uh, "No weapon formed against me shall prosper." I spoke it out loud. I said it. And you know what? I had no consequences to that fall. Why? One is I do what Psalm 91 says. It says even the angels will not trip you up. Now, we do have an enemy and they are actively out there looking to do whatever he can do to upset you or upset your world, turn things upside down, um cause you to fall. And even though the scriptures tell me the angels are there to protect me from even stubbing my toe in Psalm 91, what I do know is when something happens, I can speak to the Lord and I can speak his scripture. I can bless whatever it is, whatever. And guess what? When I do it, I have a joy. And sometimes we have to do it over a due season. You know, right now, I don't know if you've been watching the news the last couple of days, but we've had a couple of serious plane and helicopter accidents. Uh, one over in Washington DC and um the Reagan National Airport, I believe, is where it happened and right off there at the river. Um, I think it's the Potoic River there. And then we have one over Philadelphia. And I prayed over those situations and I blessed the Lord and I can be at peace about it because I know that the Lord has taken care of the situation. I understand that everyone is appointed to die once. That's Hebrews 9:27. So we are in a world though that is dying and eventually we're all going to end up on the other side. And when you read the scripture and you let the scripture dwell within you, you come to the conclusion that you have joy because you're speaking the right words over the situation in due season. Sometimes we just have to do that. You know, in fact, one of the things I prayed after uh hearing about a third incident in um Southern California and a plane over there uh crash I think in Fullerton or some place over there. I just said, "Lord," and I went to the Lord. I said, "I'm coming against whatever is attacking all of these planes. You know, people are traveling through these people live by this. They have, you know, I'm praying, Lord, you know, keep us safe. We don't want this to be happening." Now, I can have the joy of the Lord in me. Yeah, it's a sad situation, but I know that he has heard me. And I'm probably not the only one who has been praying and I know that he has heard our cries. Our voice and supplication has been heard. By the way, not just by God, but by the son of God, the Holy Spirit, the angels, and the demons. They have all heard my spoken word. And once I speak a word, that word goes forth. I'm going to show you the power of that word and what God does to he he has to honor his spoken word and he what he can do to undo a spoken word because he has done that. We're going to see scripture on that. But let's go back to 116. Psalm 116. Let's read verses 2 through4 now. Because he has inclined or stretched his ear unto me. You see, I love how David when he's talking to God, give ear to my word. It's like he's pulling on God's ear. Come here. Listen to me. That's the original Hebrew of give ear to my word or hear me. So he's saying because you he's talking to God has inclined your ear. He b God bent your ear to me. Therefore I will call out or call upon him as long as I live. You see the psalmist is saying I recognize something. The moment I speak his spoken word, guess what? He bends his ear to hear me. And I know he hears me. And he continues on. He says, "I'm going to continue to do this as long as I live." Then he's talking about the sorrows. By the way, uh this is like the word sorrows here is kind of an interesting word. It means a rope or a measuring line. He says, "The sorrows of death compassed me and the pains like something tight of hell or Hades, the world of the dead, got hold upon me. I found trouble and sorrow." Also what he's saying is that it has wrapped itself around me and it's tightening me. I'm having a difficult time. And then because he's doing that, he can still call upon the Lord. He can still say that the Lord hears me. That is incredible. So he says this and he's talking about the pains. He's telling you what I've got. Then he goes to verse four says, "Then I call then called I upon the Lord. Oh Lord, I beseech you." The word beseech means oh now. It's a now calling I there. So he's go back to the beginning of that scripture. Then called I upon the name of the Lord. Oh Lord, I beseech thee, deliver my soul, escape, release, rescue, get me out of this situation. And he continues to praise the Lord. And saying, I know he heard me and he's going to take me out. Now he's also talking about faith. Belief. Faith is something you can't see yet, but you know it's going to happen. God is going to deliver me because he heard me. That's what the psalmist is saying and is so incredible. But notice what he's saying. He's like, I got to call out. I got to speak out. And as he shares his spoken word, he sees God moves in his heart. Let's go back to Romans 10:13. And remember it says for for whosoever anyone shall call upon the name of the Lord that call is to invoke or appeal shall be saved, delivered, healed, protected, preserved. That is amazing. So the moment you say Jesus I need you God my heavenly father, aba father, papa father I need you. I need to hear you. Hear me. I need to know that you are there. And this is how the psalms say, I know he heard me. I know he heard me. It's incredible. So, he walks now in this faith because he knows he's been heard. Are you calling upon the name of the Lord in your circumstance? Could be health, could be finances. It could be relationship issues, something with your siblings, your children, your parents. Are you calling upon the name of the Lord? So, he hears you. How can he take care of the situation if you're not calling upon him? Yes, he's an all- knowing God, but why are we here? He's saying, "I want a relationship with you, and I need you to come to me with this situation." And he clearly Jesus clearly says ask whatever it is that you want or need. And he says I will go to the Lord. And the the scripture the meaning behind that is that going to the Lord to see what the circumstances would be the outcome would be. And so Jesus makes a a call there that you know like for instance if you're asking to win the lottery and you haven't yet you've been doing it for years it's likely Jesus knows if you won the lottery this is going to happen to you and he doesn't want that to happen to you. That's how Jesus does this. So when you ask, ask and see how the Lord responds. You never know. You can ask her, you know what, Lord, I just don't feel like cooking tonight and I don't have any food. Um, help me with this. Or you can ask, "Hey Lord, um, uh, my utilities are going to be going up 50 bucks or 20 bucks or whatever it is. Lord, what do I do? Do I have to get another job?" What it is is the moment you put God first, it says, "Seek ye first the kingdom of God and all these things shall be added unto you, God makes a way because he loves you so much." Because he just loves us because. But for those of us who are in treating him in righteousness by going to him first, the kingdom of God is ours. According to Matthew chapter 5, believe it was verse 7 or 8, the biatitudes, he's telling you, you the kingdom of God is yours. This is see our prayers effectively change things around us because we're applying the spoken word because we see it in scripture and we know it's true. Amen. Let's go to Isaiah real quick. I want to show you an example of a situation that took place here about a spoken word. This is Isaiah 38:1-5. In those days was Hezekiah sick unto death, and Isaiah the prophet, the son of Amos, came unto him and said unto him. Thus sayeth the Lord, set thine house in order. In other words, appoint charge family. Uh in other words, appoint a family member. He says, for thou shalt die and not live. Then Hezekiah turned his face toward the wall and prayed. He judged and interceded unto the Lord. That's very important. We'll get back to that in a minute. and said, "Remember now, O Lord, I beseech you." There's that word beseech again. "Oh, now he's saying, now I need you. I beseech thee how I have walked before thee in truth." See, he judged himself. He's saying, "Look at Lord. I have walked before you in truth. I have been stable. I've been trustworthy. And I have a perfect a complete heart and have done what is uh I have done that which is good in your sight." And then Hezekiah wept sore. So then verse four, then came the word of the Lord to Isaiah, saying, "Go and say to Hezekiah, thus sayeth the Lord, the God of David thy father, I have heard thy prayer. I have seen thy tears. Behold, I will add unto thy days 15 years." Hezekiah did exactly what he was supposed to do. He was given bad news. He said, um, you know, Isaiah came in, Isaiah leaves and he turned to the wall and he prayed and he just his voice and his supplication went to the Lord and he judged himself and surprisingly he found himself doing right in the sight of the Lord. He says, "I'm doing right here. This shouldn't be killing me." And God said, "Okay, watch what God does here because he he tells him he's going to add 15 years." I want you to see what he does here. So verse seven, "And this shall be a sign." It's a signal flag beacon unto thee from the Lord that the Lord will do or accomplish this thing that he has spoken. So he's saying, I'm going to give you another 15 years. And this is the sign that you will know that I'm giving you 15 years. says, "Behold, I will bring again the shadow of the degrees which is gone down in the sun dial of Ahaz 10° backward." So the sun returned 10° by which degrees it was gone down. Why? And maybe that was 10 minutes. I don't know what the degrees mean, but I'm assuming it's minutes here and not hours and not seconds. So, uh, it I'm sure it took 10 minutes for Isaiah to or when Isaiah walked in and the moment the spoken word, what happened is God's spoken word cannot be undone. And God said, "Set your house in order cuz you're going to die." So Isaiah leaves in that 10 minute time frame, the 10 minutes that passes, Hezekiah entreats the Lord. He gives him his voice, his supplication. He weeps. He judges himself. He intervenes. Intercedes on his behalf. The Lord tells Isaiah, "Turn around. Go back in there and tell him, I'm going to give him another 15 years." And the way you will know is the sundial shadow will go back that 10 minutes. Why does it have to happen that way? You know, in order for God's word to be undone, it has to never have been spoken in the first place. So, he goes back in time 10 minutes to unsay what he said and to come out with a different outcome. I want you to understand something. That's how much God will move on your behalf. Now, there's a lot of things that are part of this. Yes, you've got your faith, your individuality, what's going on in your body, and then you have the others that you love and support, and there's that free will of man that plays a role in this because God gave us the ability to think and speak for ourselves. So here, Hezekiah himself, the one that is sick, is the one who went to the Lord and said, "Listen, Lord, I've been doing what's right in your sight." Now there are many who are sick that said you know what Lord I haven't been doing right in your then what he says because what did Jesus do? He redeemed us all. So Jesus is saying then ask me to forgive you because I will pardon you. So even if you feel that you haven't been just or righteous you say Lord I'm sorry and I'm getting my life right back with you and I'm asking you to heal me. God will heal you. God will take care of all of your situations. Now, if you choose not to do that, or you choose that your time is done, that's between you and God. You know, there's a scripture, I did a teaching on this. It's a a teaching in the books. I didn't mean to mention this, but I thought I'd go here and tell you about it. There's a book written at the point of your conception when you were conceived. God creates a new book, has your name on it, and it has all the particular details about you, including how long your life is. And he gives you a set number of days. Now, whether you reach that set number of days, that's between you and God. You know, do you want to walk in faith and keep going and get more done here on the earth or you're done and tired of it and you just want to go home? You know, if you remember, I believe it was Elijah in the wilderness. He gets under the terabin tree there. Um I don't know if it's Terabin, but he got under one of the trees there. I think it was a juniper. And he gets under there. He's like, "Lord, just let me die. I'm done." And then the Lord sends an angel to him though, feeds him, takes care of him. In fact, the angel who cooked, he made him a cake there. And I don't know what kind of cake, I don't think it was a lemon cake or anything like that, but whatever Elijah, he ate a cake that lasted him for 40 days. And the Lord gave him the strength that he needed to keep going and to do what he did. And by the way, Elijah has never died yet. Hebrews 9:27 says, "Every man is appointed to die once." And we know that Enoch and Elijah are two people who have not died yet. So, they still have to die to make God's word true, and they will. So, you can go think of that whatever way you want. You go study the scriptures on that. That is there. So, when you speak, so this is your voice and your supplications are yours to give to God. You can judge and intercede for yourself. whether you've been good or bad, you can humble yourself before the Lord and say, "I'm sorry, and Jesus will forgive you." So now, um, Hezekiah is talking and he's he's realiz he's got the extra 15 years and he says this like a a little prayer and he says something interesting here. Let's look at verses 17-9. He says, "Behold, for peace save I had great bitterness, but thou hast in love to my soul delivered it from the pit of corruption. for thou hast cast all my sins behind thy back. Now remember, he was given 15 years. So he's going to die still.

But look at his celebration here. He's saying, I had great bitterness, but you gave me peace in lie of that. You love my soul. He's he's telling us that God is clinging to his soul and he delivered it from the pit of corruption or failure. You see, that was a thing that Hezekiah saw. He saw himself dying at that point in his life as a failure. He's not failing. He went to God and says, "No, no, no, Lord." And he he's realizing the God he's talking to. Says, "For thou," Now, he's not even talking about being alive. He says, "For thou hast cast all my sins, which is a crime, penalty, fault, offense, behind his back." God took it and just and as a guy is like, "This is incredible. Call on God and look what he will do." So then he says, "For the grave cannot praise thee." That word grave means Hades, the world of the dead cannot praise you. Death cannot celebrate thee. They that go down into the pit pit cannot hope for thy truth. So he's now realizing, listen, you have to call upon the name of the Lord. You have to be saved because once you go down to the pit, you're not praising him anymore. You are cut off from God because you're in hell. So he's saying you got to have salvation. Look what else he says in verse 19. The living, the living, he says it twice. He shall praise thee. Why does he say it twice? The living here on earth, the living afterlife. He's acknowledging what salvation does to a person on eternal life with God. So he says, "The living, the living, he shall praise thee as I do this day." See, now he's recognizing I'm living now and I'm going to live then. And I'm praising my God Almighty who loves and clings to my soul. Hallelujah. And he says, "The Father to the children shall make known thy truth." See, he recognized and he learned the truth of the situation. He said, "The truth is that God is a God of salvation and he has mercy for each and every one of us." Oh, hallelujah. But and he's also talking about his voice, how he spoke his voice. The psalmist is talking about the voice. Let's go to Colossians. Let's look at what Colossians says. This is Colossians 3:16-1 17. Let the word or something said of Christ. So let the word of Christ dwell in habit in you abundantly richly in all wisdom, teaching and admonishing to put in mind one another in psalms and hymns and spiritual songs, singing with grace in your hearts to the Lord. So if you don't know what to say or how to bless yourself or how to come to the Lord, use the scriptures. Jesus the son of the living God. He is the word of God and you speak his word. You have life over you. You have wisdom. You can use it for teaching admonishing. Then verse 17, "And whatsoever ye do in word or deed, do all in the name of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks to God and the father by him." You see now he's telling us, go before the Lord, talk with the Lord. Use the word scripture and be set free, liberated, have your salvation, have your joy because if you recall our opening scripture, you have a joy for the words you have spoken over yourself. So speak life, speak abundant life over you. And if you don't know how to say or what to say, it's very simple. Lord, forgive me. and I ask you to be in my heart and I ask you to teach me how to speak your word over my life. And he will show you Psalm 91. He will show you Psalm 103. He will show you no weapon formed against me shall prosper. He will show you Jeremiah where he says, "I know the thoughts and I have good thoughts for you." He will show you how incredibly made you were made at at the time of birth and how you formed our bones. He will show you that by his stripes you were healed. He is going to show you all the scriptures that you can say over your life. If you have to write them down on a piece of paper, print it out on a printer, put it on your wall, and every time you walk by, you see that scripture, you say that scripture, Lord. Jesus is Lord. Remember Romans 10:9 says uh that if you confess with your mouth, because again, we're talking about the mouth. Confess with your mouth, Jesus is Lord. Which is what praying is all about. Pray without ceasing. First Thessalonians 5:17. Jesus is Lord. Jesus, you are Lord over my eyesight. Jesus, you are Lord over my finances. Jesus, you are Lord over my body. You see, and you start to bless yourself. Stop cursing yourself. You're not stupid. You're not dumb. And in fact, you're in a particular perfect position for God to use you because you are humbled. You are not elevating yourself above God. You're recognizing that you need God to help you even speak his word. Even Moses who did not want to go to back to Egypt to save his people, he was like, "Lord, Lord." But God put the right words in him and then brought him his brother Aaron to help him go through that situation. God gave us a helper, the comforter. We have the name of Jesus. We have the authority and we have him personally in our hearts and minds. Yeah, that's incredible. That's the God of whom we serve. He is amazing, wonderful, faithful, true, full of loving kindness, grace, mercy, and every time you thank him and you bless him, that blessings come back on you. So when you're in a desperate situation, it doesn't matter what the circumstance is, what and whatever the outcome, because sometimes the outcome can still be bad. You can say, you know what, though? I serve a great and mighty God. I serve the heavenly father. And I don't serve him because of somebody living or somebody dying or how somebody preaches. No, I serve him because of who he is. So I come to him with my words because of who he is. And he gives me the words to speak. I speak his blessings over me. And I can sit here and stand in joy because of what he has done. I hope and I I hope beyond hope here that you apply the word of God to your life. You know, we have on the section of House of Faith Ministries, a quick moment with God. I remember years ago, I would say one scripture, one prayer. It was the little baby steps that I would take because I didn't have a full devotional established in my life. We're talking like this is like 30 plus years ago. But in that, it built my Christian life up to be able to spend more time with the Lord. And let me tell you, the more time you spend with the Lord, there are blessings and promises. You will have your joy. But there is, you recognize how God also has to be a righteous judge and and a wise person. He He knows what's best for you. He can't just give you everything that you want cuz sometimes he has to change your heart. He has to sometimes change your mind. You got to let the Lord change you. And he does. You got to let him. Anyways, let's close in a word of prayer. Father God, we thank you for your word. Your word is mighty. I pray and ask that you place your word in our mouths that we are speaking your word over our situations daily and that we are putting you first that we're seeking first the kingdom of God and your righteousness and then all these things will be added unto us. I'm praying, Father God, that your word is manifesting out of us. that we are quoting your word, blessing your word, praying your word over every circumstance for our loved ones, for people at church, for our neighbors, for our co-workers, for our family members, for our government, for our president, for every aspect of life. Father God, let us learn to speak your word. Not tire of it, not give up on it, but to continue to speak your word and to even continue to go into your word to get more out of your word so that we know more to say. Hallelujah. I love you, Lord, and I thank you. And in the name of Jesus, amen. Amen. God bless you all. See you in the next message. Bye-bye.
