WHEN YOU PUT JESUS FIRST

Minister Lisa Kane

2025年6月8日

In this lesson, Lisa Kane explores Matthew 10, highlighting the call to boldly confess Jesus before men and the blessings that follow when believers put Him first. The teaching emphasizes that fear of people and circumstances must be replaced by fear of God, who alone holds eternal authority over body and soul. Through examples from personal life, scripture, and ministry, Lisa illustrates how God reveals hidden truths, gives direction through His Spirit, and confirms His presence in moments of obedience.

Believers are reminded that confessing Christ publicly stems from the intimacy of the “secret place” with God, where prayer and devotion cultivate strength for witness. Prioritizing Jesus above family ties, personal desires, or worldly concerns may bring division, but it also secures the believer’s eternal standing before the Father. The message concludes by affirming that Jesus’ sacrifice on the cross proves our immense value to Him, and in response, we are called to love Him above all, walking daily in boldness, faithfulness, and love.

Objective:

The objective of this teaching is to encourage believers to prioritize Jesus Christ above all else, recognizing that putting Him first transforms every area of life. By confessing Christ before others, living without fear of men, and walking daily in faith and obedience, Christians experience the revelation of God’s truth, the empowerment of the Holy Spirit, and the assurance of their eternal value in God’s eyes.

Hello and welcome to the House of Faith Ministries. I'm Lisa Kaine and I'm teaching this lesson today on Sunday, June 8th, 2025. Welcome. Let's open up in a word of prayer. Father God, we thank you for your word. Lord, I pray over the listeners to hear your word, to receive your word, that their hearts and minds, ears and eyes are prepped and ready, and that they not only receive, but apply it to their hearts and minds, to their lives, that they walk in your word in confidence, in boldness, in faithfulness. And I thank you Lord that your Holy Spirit is imparting upon the listeners here and now to have a change of life and be bold in com uh confessing you before men and not to be afraid of men. Thank you Lord. In the name of Jesus we pray. Amen. Amen. Welcome. Glad you can join me today. Uh this uh teaching is called when you put Jesus first. Let's go to our opening scripture here. uh Matthew 10:32. We'll be focusing on Matthew uh 10 quite a bit today. Whosoever therefore shall confess me before men, him will I confess also before my father which is in heaven. So we're going to be talking about confessing. We are going to be talking about how when you put Jesus first and he becomes a priority in your life, what happens next? And you're going to see that here. Now, as a reminder for those who are new, when you see a w a word here that's in bold, that's the word in the King James version. And the word in parentheses afterwards is another translation of that word from um esord. That's where I get it from. And I put those extra words in there. It really helps us to see the meaning behind what the translation was from the original. In this case, we're in the New Testament. So, it's the original Greek to English. And so, we're going to be uh looking at that. So, let's talk about confessing. What happens when you put Jesus first in your life? What does that do to you? Let's start here in Matthew 10 uh verse 26. It says, "Fear them not." And that word fear is be alarmed not. So, basically, don't be alarmed. Fear them not, therefore, or do not be alarmed of them. For there is nothing covered or hidden that shall not be revealed and hid that shall not be known or concealed not be known. So we as believers have a right to know the mystery behind the scriptures and behind what God is doing. He is sharing that to those of us who get closer to God and put God first. So, one of the first things that happens, and there's no particular order of these at all. This is just a transformation of what happens to our minds and our hearts and our bodies. I hope I didn't make that sound too loud. Um, when we put Jesus first and he's saying that first of all, don't fear anyone else. And we're going to talk more about this fear in just a moment, but he says, "Do not fear them, for there's nothing covered that shall not be revealed." In other words, everything that goes on, even behind the scenes in the dark places where people think they're doing secret sin, guess what? As a believer in Christ, we know because there's a little birdie telling us. And his name is the Holy Spirit. He's showing us that it's going to be revealed, meaning the cover, the darkness is going to come out of that. It's going to be off of that. And then he's saying that um whatever is concealed that shall not be known. So let's read that again just straight through. Fear them not therefore for there is nothing covered that shall not be revealed and he that shall not be known. So we will know these things as believers in Christ. Okay, that's good. Let's continue on because we are talking about what happens when you put Jesus first. You know how uh Matthew 6 uh 333 says uh seek first the kingdom of God and his righteousness and then all these things will be added unto you. Well, part of seek first the kingdom of God, that's the ministry and then seek first the uh and his righteousness. That's personal change that takes place and then all these things will be added unto you. So, this is a gift that you're seeing that the Holy Spirit will reveal the things that are going on behind the scenes. And I'm gonna tell you right now, I've had some revelations given to me that I was like, "Oh." So, you know, for those that don't believe, they're not going to understand this, but those of us who put Jesus first in our lives, we're we've got a gift that the Holy Spirit is going to talk through us. So, let's continue on. Verse 27. What I tell you in darkness or dimness, obscurity, that's speaking in light. And let me focus a little bit on this. Sometimes we don't understand why or what God asks us to do. Uh for example, I was in praise and worship this morning uh at church and wow, the anointing was so strong and I was just weeping, but there's a person that came to mind and I texted her a word from the Lord. I don't know what's going on there, but I know if I'm obedient to the Lord, he's speaking to her. And she responded in kind. So you can see that he says, "So what I tell you in darkness, uh, and sometimes dimness, obscurity, like sometimes in a dream, you might get something from the Lord and you'll be like, "What was that?" And it was interesting because I've had a couple of dreams over this past week and um maybe a week and a half. And what is just so interesting, I got a word from the Lord through scripture and a sister had given me a word from the Lord from another scripture. put those scriptures together and everything I experienced, not just the dreams, but everything I was doing in real life was spoken in those scriptures. And I was like, "Oh, that's the Lord speaking to me." Which he was telling me not to fear them. I went um yesterday, uh, excuse me, Friday to see an aunt and uncle. Uh, he had just gotten out of the hospital, been through a lot. We basically witnessed and prayed over them and anointed them with oil. And was interesting is my aunt confessed Jesus Christ as her Lord and Savior. And she just she got touched. So very excited about that. But that was the word that the Lord was giving me again through dimness and obscurity or darkness. And he says, "Speak that in light." So when we got there, I wasn't afraid. I just spoke the truth. Here, I bought you a Bible. We want to pray with you. We want to put the anointing on the Lord. And they were accepting of it. There's nothing to be ashamed about that because you'll be surprised how much people want this. In fact, I remember days of my youth many many years ago like 30ome years ago as a young woman of God and we went door to door and I kept thinking this is just oh people are not going to you know you're invading their privacy basically. But every door we went to and knocked on and we asked do you just need prayer? You want us to pray with you? They all said yes. So you'll be surprised what the Holy Spirit is doing behind the scenes when you walk out in faith like that. Amen. So he says um and what ye hear in the ear that preach ye upon the housetops. Now I hear from the Lord every day because I spend time in the word. I am constantly putting God first. He is my priority. So he start I start them off every day and I end them off every night. And when you do that, you're going to hear the word of God speak to you. And this is why I wanted to kind of teach on this because this is one of the scriptures that the Lord gave me this week in regards to visiting my aunt and uncle and walking in the gifts and walking in faith which I just been talking about walking in the gifts. So we need to seek first our God have that relationship with him and you see all these things are going to be given unto us which are these gifts that the Holy Spirit gives to us. So as you can see here he says teach it, preach it, get it out on the housetops. let everybody know what's going on because you have a light that's inside of you that's manifesting out of you and yeah, they want to see that and they, you know what, they respond to that. Like I said, my aunt, I spoke to her the week before and told her we were coming out because it's it's a bit of a drive to get to her. She's in another state, but it was just interesting to see how she responded. And it was, I'm just coming out in faith. I'm going to put the Lord first and then I'm going to come over here and pray for you because I love you. And when that love Oh my goodness. Her and I were crying on the phone. Anyways, the Lord moves. And that is the anointing there. And I love that. So, we want to teach it. You want to get it out there. You want to tell people about it. And it says, "Fear." Here it goes again about fear. And fear not them which kill the body but are not able to kill the soul, but rather fear him which is able to destroy both soul and body in hell. Now, there's a very interesting scripture. It's not one I hear uh spoken on quite often, but there are killers out there, and it's more than just a person. And we're talking there's a spirit of killing that is out there. That's for another teaching. I can teach on that another time. There's a an avenger there. All of these spiritual things are going on in the background. Well, here's what's so interesting is there are other things that are killing us every day. It could be the sun rays. It could be the medications we're taking. There's consequences to all of this cuz see our flesh is just that. It's flesh. It's dying. Every day we get up, we age another day. Doesn't start over. We don't go back to our youth. At least not in the physical without God. When you put God first in your life, here is another thing that happens. When you put Jesus first, you wake up renewed, refreshed. His uh joy is his mercies are new every day. You have that opportunity to start a new day over with him. Again, this is why I start with him first every morning. Pull out my scripture. We pray and I've got my set I'm an intercessory prayer warrior. So, I pray every I have a set set of prayers that I do for each day of the week. And this is because I give God glory. I put him first in my life and then all the rest of the things. Now I I will tell you, am I aging still? Yes. Am I aging better than some? Yes. Am I aging a little slower or something? Yes. And it's not because of my bathroom routine or the soaps I use. It's because I spend time with Jesus first. He's the oh, I don't want to use the term magic elixir for the youth or the fountain of youth, but he is our life. And when you put him first, you have life. You see, Romans 6:23 says, "The wages of sin is death, but the gift of God is life." We have life and life abundantly when we put Jesus first in our lives. Amen. Continuing on to verse 29. Now I want you to get this and and understand. He says, "Are not two sparrows sold for a farthing? And one of them shall not fall on the ground without your father, but the very hairs of your head are all numbered. Fear ye not, therefore, ye are of more value than many sparrows." You see, God takes care of the sparrows. He takes care of all the birds out there. They are wellfed. They die when he says they're to die. He does all and he then he comes out and says, "But how much more valuable are you than them?" He even knows how many hairs you have on your body at any given time. And that changes by the second. I mean, because especially the older you get, your hair thins out, you're losing hair, and then you end up and then you end up with extra hair in places you're not supposed to. That's okay because this is how God knows us at every moment of every day. You see, he's out of time. He's not aging. He's the same yesterday, today, and tomorrow. Whereas you and I are outside of him. We're in time. So, we change. I'm not the same person I was 20 years ago. For that matter, I'm not the same person I was five years ago. It it is amazing to see even after being a Christian since I was six how my relationship with the Lord transformed and changed throughout the ages of all these years of the decades you know I am going on 56 years old no I'm 56 going on 57 something like that but I know this I know that the Lord is first in my life and because I put him first my entire being transformed. I'm not the same. I am not going to be the same either because I don't want to go back that way. I want to go forward and be closer to the Lord, especially now that I know how valuable I am to him. This is why Jesus went to the cross and died for me and for you. It was the most difficult thing to do and there's so much he did in that moment. But he did it because he loves us. He considers us valuable. He paid the ransom for you and I because we were taken captive and he set us free with his act on the cross. And it's it's incredible. And and when you get that suddenly it now the reverse happens. He's more valuable to me than anything else in this world or that what this world can offer. I mean, I just love the fact that I have breath in my lungs. Yeah. I I'm also getting aches and pains as I age. Um I also seeing the as I age, you know, more wrinkles, but I'm walking more in wisdom now. And I wouldn't change it for a thing. I love the way the knowledge I have today with my Lord. And I don't want to go back. My eternity actually has already begun. And part of that was when I accepted Christ into my heart when I was six. I was waterbaptized when I was nine. And the Lord has transformed my life. And he continues to do it every day. My relationship has grown exponentially. And it continues to grow because I put him first. It is an action on my part and I encourage you to act on that too. Make him a priority because he's more valuable than all the money in the world. And I promise you that. Amen. Continuing on now, we're in verse 32. This is our opening scripture. Whosoever therefore shall confess me before men, him will I confess also before my father which is in heaven. Now see, when you enter into the world, so you spent secret time with the Lord, you were in hidden because you put him first. You you said, "I'm going to read this morning." That was just you and him in that quiet, private moment. And you decided to open up that word and you read it. Well, then he talks to you through that word and he says, "Go confess it to those out there." And so what you did in secret becomes public because of God. You see this is why when you do secret things, secret sin, it will become public. Now you have to confess that before the Lord and say, I do not want to live like that. So the question to ask here now and to ask yourself this is am I doing something in secret in with the Lord and is it possible that he could reveal that and it's like he can do anything. So if he's going to reveal that eventually, then maybe you ought to confess, repent, and turn your life around so that what you're doing in the darkness, which is I praise the Lord in the darkness. And when you're doing that, it comes out in the forefront, especially, you know, as you are confessing before men, you're acknowledging Jesus before men. He's going to acknowledge you before his father, our father who art in heaven. And then verse 33 says, "But whosoever shall deny me before men, him will I also deny before my father which is in heaven." And denial there means to contradict or disavow. You go against what God is doing. And I can there's a lot of examples I can use and the one that comes to my mind right now is which I think is a classic example is the hatred of our president Trump. People hate him. They have their reasons and they're probably justified. But see, God asks you to forgive. And if you're not going to do that, see, God has forgiven. And if you're supposed to be Christlike, then you need to line up with him and forgive. If you're not going to do that, now you're just portraying anger and hatred out against him to the world. Well, guess what God is going to do to you? See, that comes back to you because of the choice in the decision that you decided to make on that. And this is where we have to realize even if we disagree and there, you know, we're we bigly or majorly disagree, that still means God is still in control and he's all about mercy. So, we need to line up and have mercy with him. Give him that mer give the mercy to the Lord and give the hatred to the Lord. Have mercy and say, "You know what, Lord? I'm going to take my eyes off of him. Take my eyes off of the hatred. I'm going to put my eyes on you. I'm gonna fix my eyes on you. And that is where the change begins in your life because you put Jesus first in your life. This is another thing that all of this section of scripture just talks about what happens when you put Jesus first in your life. This is why I entitled this message the way I did. Look at this now. Uh verse 34. Think not that I am come to send peace and on earth by the way the word peace there is also means prosperity says I came not to sense peace but a sword or war punishment

you see a lot of people think that when you become a Christian you're all at peace and the God of peace is upon us but that doesn't mean he doesn't change the actions of the world. War still takes place. Racism is still out there. Hatred is still out there. And by the way, people who believe in Christ can also hate. So you have all of this activity still going on because Jesus didn't come to bring peace. What did he come to do? says in verse 35, "For I am come to set a man at variance, or to make a part against his father, and the daughter against his mother, and the daughter-in-law against her mother-in-law. And a man's foes to hate shall be they of his own household." Those that are going to hate you are your own household. This is why one of the things I was worried about going to visit my aunt uncle to pray over them was what they believe in versus what I believe in. I thought maybe this is going to turn into a clash of religion talk or you know politic talk at at the dinner table for your loved ones like at Thanksgiving or Christmas. But it didn't turn into that. One of the reasons is I went to the Lord, gave it to the Lord. I had people calling and texting me saying what's going on because the spirit was doing a rally call to those around me saying pray for her. pray for her family and the Lord was moving and he moved in that area and that's why it happened the way it did. I put Jesus first. Do you want your loved ones saved? If so, that you got to put Jesus first. Cuz see, one of the things that I know was one of the key factors here was when I was talking to her on the phone over several conversations, I would tell her, "I love you and I love Uncle so and so trying to keep this uh private for them. I would confess the love over them and you know what that resonated with them. See, I'm not here to force anything on anyone. You don't like this, turn it off. Walk away. But if you're really somebody who wants to put Jesus first in your life, there are consequences to putting Jesus first in your life, that's saving your family, that's saving your neighbors, that's ministering at church, but it's mostly being in the secret place with the Lord. Psalm 91. And I've taught a lot on Psalm 91 throughout the years. You can go see a whole I think one year I think almost every single message I taught that entire year had to do with get into the secret place of the Lord because what he does in secret he what you do in secret is going to be revealed. Now continuing on, he says um he that loveth father or mother more than me is not worthy of me. And he that loveth son or daughter more than me is not worthy of me. And he that taketh not his cross followeth after me is not worthy of me. What he's saying here is what is your priority?

Are you trying to be better than your parents? Maybe at a certain age you the rebellion you had is kind of still secretly there as you got older and now you know they're getting up there in age and you've seen them change but you're like I remember them the way they were. Well, see this is where you have to let the Lord change you too. And we are in a season right now where I see it happening on a personal level for a lot of people, but there's still a lot of people out there that are full of hate. And the anti-semitism right now is just absolutely incredible. I I if you would asked me 10 years ago that this was even possible, I I would have said, "Well, maybe some, but this is at a level where it's on a corporate level, on a national level, on a city level, on a the hatred and the anger is really, really bad towards um the Jewish community. I mean, to the point where they're just shooting them in the back, which is what happened a couple weeks ago to a beautiful uh couple that he was about to propose to her. And you know, but they're hopefully with the Lord right now, just resting in peace. And right now our job is to be in the secret confessing Jesus asking him to remove that hatred from us. Asking him to remove the hurt from us because a lot of hatred is driven by hurt. So we just have to say, "Lord, I want to be healed by you and I'm going to let this go." And and you just give it to the Lord. And notice it says here in love. Look at that. It says in love. Says he that love. So he's talking about love. So if your active love is towards your family, towards uh other things, you might even love the hatred you have towards President Trump. You might love that more. That's an act of love because you're spending and dwelling so much time on it. That's your act of love. So how do you get your act of love to change? You have to put Jesus first in your life. And to do that is to come into your secret place. This is what I do in here. And when I again, it's first thing I do in the morning. It's the last thing I do at night. I pray and I read the word of God because he's more valuable to me. And I love him more than any other thing out in the world. In fact, this world has nothing to offer me anymore. I choose Christ and I look forward to being in his presence. Now, I'm not going to jump the gun or do anything stupid. I have a job here to do. I'm going to do it and I'm going to do it out of love because one of the things that he revealed to me in the last couple years of my life is that he loves everybody else just as much as he loves me. And if I'm gonna line myself up with him and I'm gonna be like Jesus, then I'm going to love them like he loves them. Now, I may not be able to do it to the full extent like he went to the cross. I can't do that. But what I can do is I can pray, intercede, and just say, "Lord, I forgive them." And when I forgive, he's obligated to forgive. And that's found in Matthew 6. So this is a time and a season where we want to humble ourselves before the Lord and show him our love by spending time with him. Now it is prophesied in Matthew 24 that love will grow cold. Well, let me tell you something. It might be cold. Maybe I'm not doing it to the full extent of of generations like the disciples did after they saw what Jesus went through. I'm sure they believed and love God so much so that they went to the cross for him. I don't know that I could ever do that, but I know this. My eyes are fixed on him. I choose him first in my life. And because I do that,

all of these things happen in my life. Amen. Let's close in a word of prayer. Father God, we thank you for your word. We thank you for touching our hearts and allowing love to grow in our hearts. So that we show our appreciation and love for you in the secret place that is revealed in the public. that we are interceding and praying for those and that what you reveal to us in our secret place, we preach it out on the housetops or the rooftops to the world and we let them know that you're our priority. And because that we love you and now that I know you love the others, I am hoping and praying for them that not one soul is lost, which Jesus said they would not lose one. And I thank you for that, Father God. We love you and we praise you. We put you first in our lives in the name of Jesus. Amen. And amen. Thank you. God bless you and I will see you in the next teaching. Bye-bye.
