How often I wanted to gather your children together... Top of Page O JERUSALEM, JERUSALEM! Luke 13:34 “O Jerusalem, Jerusalem, the one who kills the prophets and stones those who are sent to her! How often I wanted to gather your children together, as a hen gathers her brood under her wings, but you were not willing!” Jerusalem is the city of the Great King, and as such, she represents the dwelling place of all those who make Jesus their King. Matthew 5:35 “...Nor by Jerusalem, for it is the city of the great King.” Jesus is lamenting the fact that those who dwell in His city and are under His protection from the enemy, do not take heed to His warnings and run to Him in the face of danger, just as when a hen makes a warning sound and her chicks run under her covering for protection. What is it that makes men unwilling to run to God in times of danger? Many do not know God’s lovingkindness and compassion well enough, so they fear Him, others do not trust God enough to run to Him in their hour of need, while others do not think that God cares for them, so they say to themselves, why bother. 1 John 4:18 “There is no fear in love; but perfect love casts out fear, because fear involves torment. But he who fears has not been made perfect in love.” Is no wonder that the enemy uses fear to try and scare away from God those who are not really sure of God’s unconditional love for them, once the devil gets them away from God’s protection they become easy prey. I believe that this kind of fear will be the greatest factor that will be at play at the soon return of Jesus, when He comes to take us to be with Him in the clouds, while He judges those left back here on the earth. When the dreadful signs appear in the sky that His return is imminent, I fear that many believers will not see Jesus as coming to rescue them, but rather to judge them, due to the fact that they have not been made perfect in God’s love, you can get so embroiled on religious traditions and practices, that you forget what real Christianity is all about. I know that I harp on this a lot, but I truly believe that so many Christians in this present generation have been sold a bill of goods that does not measure up to what the Scriptures really teach about what is going to happen at Jesus’ return. For years I believed that the rapture would be an event that would happen instantly and without warning, for that was how many Christian movies about the rapture portrayed it, and the endless preachings that nobody knew the day nor the hour, so why bother to look for His return. 1 Thessalonians 5:2-6 “For you yourselves know perfectly that the day of the Lord so comes as a thief in the night. For when they say, ‘Peace and safety!’ then sudden destruction comes upon them, as labor pains upon a pregnant woman. And they shall not escape. But you, brethren, are not in darkness, so that this Day should overtake you as a thief. You are all sons of light and sons of the day. We are not of the night nor of darkness. Therefore let us not sleep, as others do, but let us watch and be sober.” Notice the stark contrast that Paul creates between light and darkness, and between those who know what the coming events entails and between those who do not know. Those of us who believe, have the Scriptures, that is why Paul tells us that we (should) know perfectly that Jesus’ return will catch the unbelievers by surprise, but then he says: but you, brethren, are not in darkness, so that this Day should overtake you as a thief. The reason why it should not overtake us as a thief is because we are children of light, we have the Scriptures to enlighten us, and then he underscores what the Scriptures teach about Jesus’ return: but let us watch and be sober, watch for what you may ask? His return of course. Luke 21:27 “Then they will see the Son of Man coming in a cloud with power and great glory.” Now here is the key to what I am harping about; when Jesus appears in the cloud everybody will see Him, believers as well as unbelievers, what Paul is trying to teach us has more to do with how we are going to react when we see Him, will we see Him as a judge or as a savior. No doubt the world will be surprised when He appears, for they will see Him as a judge coming to judge them, and they are not, and have not been looking forward to that, however, we should see Him as a Savior coming to rescue us, for we have been anxiously awaiting for His return. But what if you have been told for years and years, as I was, that nobody knows about His return, so don’t bother with it, how will you react then, when you see Him in the cloud and all those people around you are running to the bomb shelters, will you run with them to get away from Him? Or will you with a firm and secure voice tell those around you what the Scriptures declare, that they that call upon the name of the Lord will be saved? Acts 2:19-21 “I will show wonders in heaven above and signs in the earth beneath: blood and fire and vapor of smoke. The sun shall be turn into darkness, and the moon into blood, before the coming of the great and awesome day of the Lord. And it shall come to pass that whoever calls on the name of the Lord shall be saved.” In Luke 21:26 Jesus tells us that men’s heart will be failing them from fear and the expectation of those things which are coming on the earth, for the powers of the heavens will be shaken, which is what we see occurring in the Scripture that we just quoted from in the book of Acts. In the midst of the heavens and the earth becoming unglued, will you be able to say with complete assurance to those around you that, that is your Jesus coming in the cloud to take you away from all this chaos? And will you also be able to tell them what the Scriptures declare, that if they call upon the name of the Lord that they too shall be saved? That will very much depend on whether deep within your heart His perfect love for you, has casted out all fears, and also as to whether you have a reasonable understanding of what Scriptures teach will happen at His return. I always thank God for His grace and mercy that makes up for all that we do not know or understand, for He truly loves us, but as children of the Light we have an obligation to receive the enlightenment of His truth, if for nothing else, that we may be of help to those around us when that glorious day finally appears. O Jerusalem, Jerusalem...How often I wanted to gather your children together, as a hen gathers her brood under her wings, but you were not willing!” Remember our opening Scripture? Well, Jerusalem plays a very key role in the end time fulfillment of prophecy as it pertains to the return of Jesus to the earth, if we understand this next Scripture it will help us even more to be ready and to know that His return is imminent. Zechariah 12:2-3 “Behold, I will make Jerusalem a cup of drunkenness to all the surrounding peoples, when they lay siege against Judah and Jerusalem. And it shall happen in that day that I will make Jerusalem a very heavy stone for all peoples; all who would heave it away will surely be cut in pieces, though all nations of the earth are gathered against it.” The Scriptures clearly indicate that Judah in general, present day Israel, and Jerusalem in particular, will be the focus point that will initiate the return of the Lord to the earth. Many Scriptures point to an invasion of the land of Judah by a confederacy of nations to the north of Israel, to remove Jerusalem from been the capitol of Israel will be their main objective, while the extermination of the Jewish nation will be their overall goal. Zechariah 12:9 “It shall be in that day that I will seek to destroy all the nations that come against Jerusalem.” Before God’s final judgment against humanity begins, He will show Himself Holy to the nations of the world, that means that He will perform a miraculous deliverance of behalf of the city of Jerusalem, by supernaturally destroying all the nations that attacked Jerusalem. We will witness that invasion, and it will be a sign to us to get ready, for when Jesus reveals Himself to destroy those invading nations, it will also be the time when He reveals Himself to all who want to be taken out of this world. The timing of the invasion of the land of Israel by a northern confederacy may come as a surprise to us, but not the outcome, for when that invasion takes place, we are pretty much done here on the earth. 1 Thessalonians 5:8-9 “But let us who are of the day be sober, putting on the breastplate of faith and love, and as a helmet the hope of salvation. House of Faith Ministries (HoFM) presents part 1 explaining since we are living in the days of the closing of the church age, it is imperative that we not only look for those signs to come to pass in our day, but that we understand what those signs are and how they relate to our present condition when they appear. Top of Page WONDERS IN HEAVEN ABOVE Acts 2:19 “I will show wonders in heaven above and signs in the earth beneath: blood and fire and vapor of smoke.” As Peter quoted the prophet Joel about what was transpiring after the Holy Spirit fell on the one hundred and twenty disciples and they were prophesying and speaking in tongues, the Holy Spirit did not stop Peter, but allowed him to continue with the rest of Joel’s prophecy that not only told how the church would begin, but that also spoke of how the church age would come to an end. We know from the history of the church that when the Holy Spirit fell upon the believers on the day of Pentecost, wonders in the heavens did not appear, for the sun did not turned into darkness neither did the moon turned into blood on that day, for those wonders are reserved for the times of the end of the church age to announce our Lord’s return. Mark 13:24-26 “But in those days, after that tribulation, the sun will be darkened, and the moon will not give its light; the stars of heaven will fall, and the powers in the heavens will be shaken. Then they will see the Son of Man coming in the clouds with great power and glory.” We have plenty of Scriptures that associate those wondrous cosmic upheavals to the return of Jesus Christ for His church. Since we are living in the days of the closing of the church age, it is imperative that we not only look for those signs to come to pass in our day, but that we understand what those signs are and how they relate to our present condition when they appear. What does the powers in the heavens will be shaken mean? Modern science has a very strong grip in our present understanding of the physical heaven of today, we see the pictures of the myriad of galaxies that fill the sky, and we struggle to understand the vast distances that separate us, not only from other galaxies, but even from those stars that are close to us within our own galaxy. The immensity of those vast distances, and the scope and grandeur of the cosmos in relation to our tiny earth, makes even those of us who believe that God created us feel so insignificant, that it diminishes our own conception of who we are, and it makes us wonder why such a great Creator would bother Himself with such a small speck of dirt. I believe that when the powers of the heavens are shaken, all those misconceptions that we presently have about the universe, and our importance within it, will be done away with right away. What does Scripture really mean when it states that the powers of the heavens will be shaken? Can we, from our present-day vantage point postulate what the real unseen power that runs the universe is? And can we imagine what the reality of the unseen universe will be when it is finally revealed? I do not know that we really can, but that should not stop us from trying to seek the truth that will prepare us to readily accept our place within the creation when it is finally revealed through God’s wonders. Where do we start? Psalm 8:1,4 “O LORD, our Lord, how excellent is Your name in all the earth, who have set Your glory above the heavens!...What is man that You are mindful of him, and the son of man that You visit him?” When David saw the revelation of the many wonders of God’s heavenly creation, he felt the same way that we do when we gaze at the pictures that come to us from the universe that reveals creation’s wonders. It caused David to ask, if I can paraphrase: What is the human race that You visit us, that You care for us, that You give attention to? Immediately God answered his question. Psalm 8:6 “You have made him (humans) to have dominion over the works of Your hands; You have put all things under his feet.” The answer lies not in the proportion of our size in relation to the greatness of the creation, but rather in the greatness of the position that has been assigned to us within the creation. As we read the history of the creation in the opening chapters of the book of Genesis, galaxies and constellations are not the focus, neither are black holes or dark matter, man is the crowning achievement of God’s creation! That is why he was put in charge of all that was created. Psalm 19:1 “The heavens declare the glory of God; and the firmament shows His handy work.” The firmament refers to the first heaven, the physical realm of which the earth is the capitol, where man was placed to rule everything from. So that while the heavens, visible and invisible, demonstrate how magnificently glorious and powerful the Creator is, His human creation before the fall, was created to demonstrate God’s righteous character and compassion, the invisible qualities of the Creator, into a visible forum He called the firmament where He placed His human jewels. So that the supreme qualities of the Creator are not seen through the heavenly bodies that He created, marvelously wonderful as they might be. The supreme quality of the Creator can be seen through the human creatures that He created in His personal image, as fully demonstrated through the life of Jesus, the only human able to portray God’s wondrous love in all its beauty and elegance, towards fallen creatures like us who did not deserve His love or compassion to begin with. Psalm 8:3 “When I consider Your heavens, the work of Your fingers, the moon and the stars, which You have ordained.” God created all His heavenly wonders with His fingertips . Isaiah 63:5 “...Therefore My own arm brought salvation for Me...” But when it came to the creation and to the salvation of His beloved humans it required all the strength of His right arm. If we put it within the context of God’s creation this is what it all means, all the billions and billions of galaxies, all the trillions and trillions of stars, all the nebulas, all the black holes, all the dark matter, all the dark energy, gravity, you name it, all of those things which exist in the universe were made by the simple touch of God’s finger. But when it came to His beloved humans whom He made out of earth’s dirt and placed us in it, so that from it we could rule over His entire creation, He brought the full force of His righteous right arm to bear, for to Him we are His jewels, the most valuable of all that He has created. Psalm 98:1-2 “Oh, sing to the Lord a new song! For He has done marvelous things; His right hand and His holy arm have gained Him the victory. The Lord has made known His salvation; His righteousness He has revealed in the sight of the nations.” Science has it all backwards, they worship the creation rather than the Creator, who is forever blessed. Amen! So that before the Lord announces to the world the return of His Salvation, Jesus, who is coming to redeemed us, His human brethren, from the decay and corruption of this world that is passing, God will set the record straight once and for all, by shaking violently the heavens, the earth, and the underworld, everything that He created, as one who is removing the ingenuously designed wrapping on a present that He can hardly wait to open. Malachi 3:17 “They shall be mine, says the Lord of hosts, on the day that I make them my jewels. And I will spare them as a man spares his own son who serves him.” I constantly hear the harpings of this world sages stating that if they find that life evolved and exists in another part of the universe, that it will be a transforming event, they do not spell it out, but what they are saying is that it will invalidate the Bible and what it teaches concerning God’s special creation of the human race. In order for a life supporting planet to exist, it needs to orbit a star, the closest star to our solar system is light years away, we have a better chance of growing wings and flying by just eating ducks, than we would ever have of interacting with anything that is a light year away. They think somehow, that if there is intelligent life in another planet somewhere, that it will prove the Bible wrong. But yet the Bible teaches that there is intelligent life elsewhere, they are called angels, they live in a spiritual/invisible realm, and they interact with earthlings all the time. They travel back and forth from the presence of God to the earth all the time, as ministering angels on God’s behalf to the human race. Hebrews 1:14 “Are they not all (the angels) ministering spirits sent forth to minister for those who will inherit salvation?” In our next lesson I will deal with the difference between the three dimensional physical realm where we humans live and the four-dimensional realm where the angels operate. We can be standing right next to one, and in the natural we would not have a clue that it is even there. Top of Page GATES: SPIRITUAL PORTALS Genesis 28:16-19 “Then Jacob awoke from his sleep and said, ‘Surely the LORD is in this place, and I did not know it.’ And he was afraid and said, ‘how awesome is this place! This is none other than the house of God, and this is the gate of heaven (spiritual portal)!’ Then Jacob rose early in the morning, and took the stone that he had put at his head, set it up as a pillar, and poured oil on top of it. And he called the name of that place Bethel (house of God); but the name of that city had been Luz previously.” From the experience of Jacob that is recorded in the Scripture above, we can glean a tremendous amount of information in regards to the nature and function of spiritual portal s, otherwise known as gates. Gates Have to be Revealed! As soon as Jacob awoke from his dream, astonished by the presence of God that was there, his comment was, I did not know it. What he meant was that he had spent time in that place previous to going to sleep, and had it not been for the dream that revealed to him the significance of that place, in the natural, he would have never known that a spiritual portal existed right there in his encampment. So that the first thing we learn from Jacob’s experience is that spiritual portals have to be revealed to us. We can be standing right next to one, and in the natural we would not have a clue that it is even there. Gates are to be Respected! Now the next paragraph in the story tells us why perhaps these gates are hidden out of our natural sight, He was afraid. In nature there are places that are common and places that are special. Places of special significance are set apart because of their beauty or maybe, their historical value, or something that makes them special. So that out of respect, these certain areas are protected from common use. It is the same in the spiritual realm, wherever there is a spiritual portal, God attaches a special significance to that place, so that to those that are made aware of their existence, an awesome sense of fear and respect for that place arises within them instantly. Gates are Awesome Places! Jacob knew immediately after waking up that this place was no ordinary place, in astonishment he uttered this words, how awesome is this place. What made this place awesome to Jacob was that he found God’s presence there. We find this to be truth, that wherever there is a spiritual portal, the presence of God will be there in Spirit form. Gates are Openings into the Spiritual Realm! The physical and spiritual realm, though intertwined, are separated by walls that do not allow much interaction between the two, it is only through gate of heaven passages that such interaction is allowed to take place. Gates are to be Anointed! These gates of heavenly passages are special, not only for their importance, rarity, awesomeness, as well as for the access that they afford us to the Spirit of God, but also for the anointing that flows from them; because through these open gates God’s anointing flows. Jacob poured oil on top of it to signify that fact, for it was well known to our forefathers that it is the anointing that breaks the yoke. Gates Have Names that Designate their Assignment! As Jacob poured oil upon the rock that had been his pillow while having the dream, he called that place Bethel which means house of God, to designate that this was a gate that lead to God’s dwelling place, since he had witnessed God’s holy angels ascending and descending to the very throne of God. Gates are a Place of Spiritual Enlightenment! God’s anointing equates to God’s enlightenment, so that when an open gate is revealed, if those to whom the portal is revealed follow the proper protocol; I mean, they respect it, their in awe of their significance, they realized that a door has been opened for them to access the spiritual realm, they anoint it or make it special in their hearts. Then, their understanding will be opened to the nature (name) of that opening and they will be able to appropriate its functions. But the name of that city had been Luz previously. Although Jacob called that place Bethel or the house of God, due to his personal experience there, that place had being previously named Luz which means light or enlightenment. So that gates may go by different names to those who have their own experience, yet the function of the gate will certainly be the same. Acts 17:26-28 “And He has made from one blood every nation of men to dwell on all the face of the earth, and has determined their pre-appointed times and the boundaries of their dwellings, so that they should seek the Lord, in the hope that they might grope for Him and find Him, though He is not far from each one of us; for in Him we live and move and have our being...” Gates are all Over the Earth! Wherever men have settled on all the face of the earth, God has placed gates, and has determined their pre-appointed times, and according to His wisdom, He has set up the boundaries of their dwellings for the purpose of enticing men to seek the Lord, to seek His anointing, to seek His enlightenment, to grope for Him (if they have to, like a blind person would) and find Him, although He is never far from us. What Happens if we Find a Gate? Isaiah 28:6 “For a spirit of justice to him who sits in judgment, and for strength to those who turn back the battle at the gate.” God’s enlightenment will always lead us to make the right decisions. In other words, the spirit of justice allows us to make the right judgments. The anointing on the other hand, enables us with the strength needed to turn back the spiritual battle at the source, before it gets near to us. Isaiah 29:21 “Those who with a word make a man out to be guilty, who ensnare the defender in court (the gate) and with false testimony deprive the innocent of justice.” Where is it that Satan makes his accusations against us? Is it not before the heavenly court, which is just another name for gate or portal? Do we not have access to the same heavenly court with our very own advocate by our side, even Jesus? So here is a revelation, we just found an open gate, and is the name of Jesus that grants us access to God’s heavenly court, where we can silence our accusing enemy with the blood of Jesus and by the word of our testimony. Amos 7:13 “But never again prophesy at Bethel, for it is the king's sanctuary, and it is the royal residence.” Centuries later, at Bethel, a wicked king tried to silence one of God’s prophets from accessing the gate at the house of God. Read the response of the holy prophet. Amos 7:12-17 “Then Amaziah said to Amos: ‘Go, you seer! Flee to the land of Judah. There eat bread, and there prophesy. But never again prophesy at Bethel, For it is the king’s sanctuary, and it is the royal residence.’ Then Amos answered, and said to Amaziah: ‘I was no prophet, nor was I a son of a prophet, but I was a sheep-breeder and a tender of sycamore fruit. Then the LORD took me as I followed the flock, and the LORD said to me,’ ‘Go, prophesy to My people Israel.’ Now therefore, hear the word of the LORD: you say, ‘Do not prophesy against Israel, and do not spout against the house of Isaac.’ Therefore thus says the LORD: ‘Your wife shall be a harlot in the city; your sons and daughters shall fall by the sword; your land shall be divided by survey line; you shall die in a defiled land; and Israel shall surely be led away captive from his own land.’” Is that the way to talk to a priest or what? Amos, being a true prophet of the Living God, was under the anointing and enlightenment of God, as such, he understood the severity of the charges against him, by no less than the priest of Bethel, the very man who sat at the spiritual gate of the city, who was trying hard to silence him. The priest of Bethel was in violation of God’s Word according to Isaiah: those who with a word make a man out to be guilty. So that Amos rebuke and judgment against priest Amaziah was swift and harsh. I guess we can say that he nipped it on the bud, before it left the gate. Is it not what this lesson is all about? To silence the enemy and the avenger at the gate? 1 Corinthians 2:14-15 “But the natural man does not receive the things of the Spirit of God, for they are foolishness to him; nor can he know them, because they are spiritually discerned. But he who is spiritual (battles at the gate) judges all things, yet he himself is rightly judged by no one.” Glory to God, in Jesus mighty name we thank you Lord for awesome is Your name, and awesome is Your presence at the gate. Genesis 2:8 New King James Version (NJKV) 8 The Lord God planted a garden eastward in Eden, and there He put the man whom He had formed. Genesis 2:15-20 (NJVK) 15 Then the Lord God took [d ]the man and put him in the garden of Eden to [e ]tend and keep it. 16 And the Lord God commanded the man, saying, “Of every tree of the garden you may freely eat; 17 but of the tree of the knowledge of good and evil you shall not eat, for in the day that you eat of it you[f ] shall surely die.” 18 And the Lord God said, “It is not good that man should be alone; I will make him a helper comparable to him.” 19 Out of the ground the Lord God formed every beast of the field and every bird of the air, and brought them to [g ]Adam to see what he would call them. And whatever Adam called each living creature, that was its name. 20 So Adam gave names to all cattle, to the birds of the air, and to every beast of the field. But for Adam there was not found a helper comparable to him. The above scriptures show us that Adam was in the Garden of Eden without Eve for some amount of time. We don’t know how much time because the Bible doesn't tell us, but we can guess that at least several months to maybe a handful of years went by where there was no Eve. How do I know this? How many animals, beasts, and birds did God create that Adam named and how long do you think it took Adam to name them all? Imagine this, let’s say God brought in a male and female animal that were gray, big, and heavy with trunks on them and Adam says I will call these elephants. What-if God asked Adam why? And what-if Adam asked God why a skinny tail versus a bigger tail to match its girth? You see God and Adam were talking or having a relationship. They were spending time with one another. God interacted with the image He made of Himself. Genesis 1:26a (NKJV) 26 Then God said, “Let Us make man in Our image, according to Our likeness; We were made extremely different then any other creature God had already made. We don’t look like the angels and to top it all off, God was spending time with Adam, not the other angels. Which begs the question, who was in the Garden of Eden watching? Ezekiel 28:13 (NKJV) 13 You were in Eden, the garden of God; Every precious stone was your covering: The sardius, topaz, and diamond, Beryl, onyx, and jasper, Sapphire, turquoise, and emerald with gold. The workmanship of your timbrels and pipes Was prepared for you on the day you were created. Satan was in the garden of Eden and he was watching everything going on. He was perplexed and confused to say the least. He couldn’t figure out how could God spend so much time with such an inferior creature? When comparing man against his beauty, there was no comparison. He was made with every precious stone and was so beautiful, yet God wasn’t spending time with him…no he was spending time with Adam. When Satan saw that God placed a female in the Garden and left to give Adam and Eve a ‘honeymoon’, Satan wanted to show God how inferior this creature was. In fact, he wanted to make it such a point to rub it in His face…and was probably thinking that he could do a better job in creating creatures. And that is why Satan wanted us. And he continues to want us to this day because every time he wins, he's hurting God. Satan doesn't care about who you are or what you do but he does care that God loves you so much that he'll do everything in his power to hurt you because he knows it will hurt God. To put it simply, Satan hates God and everything God loves, Satan hates. God showed His love by spending time with Adam. Love is action and God is action. I bet Satan thought he was right when he deceived Eve and Adam. Genesis 3:1-6 (NKJV) 3 Now the serpent was more cunning than any beast of the field which the Lord God had made. And he said to the woman, “Has God indeed said, ‘You shall not eat of every tree of the garden’?” 2 And the woman said to the serpent, “We may eat the fruit of the trees of the garden; 3 but of the fruit of the tree which is in the midst of the garden, God has said, ‘You shall not eat it, nor shall you touch it, lest you die.’ ” 4 Then the serpent said to the woman, “You will not surely die. 5 For God knows that in the day you eat of it your eyes will be opened, and you will be like God, knowing good and evil.” 6 So when the woman saw that the tree was good for food, that it was [a ]pleasant to the eyes, and a tree desirable to make one wise, she took of its fruit and ate. She also gave to her husband with her, and he ate. 7 Then the eyes of both of them were opened, and they knew that they were naked; and they sewed fig leaves together and made themselves [b ]coverings. But God. He had a bigger plan all along. John 3:16-17 (NKJV) 16 For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have everlasting life. 17 For God did not send His Son into the world to condemn the world, but that the world through Him might be saved. We’re made in His image and He loves us. He paid a large price, the death of His Son on the cross, to get us back from the curse of sin when Adam and Eve disobeyed God because of Satan's hatred toward Him. Romans 6:23 (NKJV) 23 For the wages of sin is death, but the [a ]gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord. After Adam and Eve sinned, they began aging and eventually died. But Jesus broke death by rising from the dead. Matthew 28:6a (NKJV) 6 He is not here; for He is risen, as He said. Hallelujah! Now you and I can rise from certain death by believing and Satan may want to hurt us to hurt God but he can't hurt us anymore. God made a way for us to be saved! Romans 10:9-10 (NKJV) 9 that if you confess with your mouth the Lord Jesus and believe in your heart that God has raised Him from the dead, you will be saved. 10 For with the heart one believes unto righteousness, and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation. And all it takes is talking to God. It began as a relationship with God and Adam, and it will end in a relationship with God and me (you). Say this out loud: Dear Jesus, thank You for dying on the cross. Forgive me of my sins and come into my life. Be my Lord and Savior. In Jesus’ Name Amen! Praise the Lord! You are now saved through Jesus Christ and don’t let anyone or anything tell you otherwise. Protect yourself by staying in that relationship with God because where God is, Satan isn’t. House of Faith Ministries (HoFM) presents a teaching on Matthew 24:37 “But as the days of Noah were, so also will the coming of the Son of Man be.” Top of Page AS IN THE DAYS OF NOAH Matthew 24:37 “But as the days of Noah were, so also will the coming of the Son of Man be.” If there is a mortal enemy to man of whom man is not aware of, it would have to be Neglect; and if that enemy had a partner in crime, it would have to be Complacency; and if they were headlining a Hollywood movie the title would be The Twin Killers. Someone once said that the road to hell is paved with good intentions. After officiating at a gravesite funeral for a deceased person that I did not know, as I walked by the grave markers I wondered how many of those buried there had died before fulfilling what God had destined them to be while on this earth. I guess what prompted my query was the fact that there were only a handful of people there as they laid her to rest, and I did not have much of a clue as to the life history of the elderly person we had just buried. Out of all the funerals that I officiated, that particular one always reminds me of the rapture for some reason. For as I was walking by the many gravesites the Lord revealed to me the reality of how many of us while on this earth neglect our fiduciary duties to life and become complacent about our many responsibilities to the Creator. Matthew 24:38-39 “For as in the days before the flood, they were eating and drinking, marrying and giving in marriage, until the day that Noah entered the ark, and did not know until the flood came and took them all away, so also will the coming of the Son of Man be.” In life we quickly learn that our actions always incur reactions, but the one lesson that it is harder to learn is that our inactions also have reactions, and usually they are unwanted negative reactions, but many a times we come to that realization just a little too late. Jesus makes very clear in His teachings that life is full of uncertainties. But the one area of life that I want to focus on today is in our responsibility before Him at His soon return. What does Jesus expect from us at His return? Matthew 25:14 “For the kingdom of heaven is like a man traveling to a far country, who called his own servants and delivered his goods to them.” In the parable of the talents Jesus is clearly teaching about the responsibilities of those who have been saved and gifted with God’s many goods and their having to give an accounting before the Master upon His return. In the parable Jesus puts the emphasis in the multiplication of the talents and not on how many talents each of the servants were given originally. For those who multiplied their talents received the same reward regardless of how many talents they started with. Matthew 25:21, 23 “His lord said to him (the one who had received five talents), ‘Well done, good and faithful servant; you were faithful over a few things, I will make you ruler over many things. Enter into the joy of your lord’...His lord said to him (the one who had received two talents), ‘Well done, good and faithful servant; you have been faithful over a few things, I will make you ruler over many things. Enter into the joy of your lord.’” The only difference between the two is that the ones that were faithful are the ones that had been dead and were bodily resurrected at our Lord’s return, and the ones that have been faithful are the ones that are alive and rapture when our Lord returns, for they are still in the salvation process. But look at the fate of the one who failed to multiply, or at least increase the talent that he was given, for it was a horrible fate. Matthew 25:25-27 “‘And I was afraid, and went and hid your talent in the ground. Look, there you have what is yours .’ But his lord answered and said to him, ‘You wicked and lazy servant, you knew that I reap where I have not sown, and gather where I have not scattered seed. So you ought to have deposited my money with the bankers, and at my coming I would have received back my own with interest.’” Jesus uses currency as an example for the lives of those who are His, remember how the parable began? The master called his own servants and delivered his goods to them, so that Jesus is not dealing here with unbelievers, but rather He is dealing with the believers at His return. Now the word wicked that Jesus uses for the servant that failed the master when He called him you wicked and lazy servant, is the same that He used earlier in reference to a believer that failed to forgive. Matthew 18:32-34 “Then his master, after he had called him, said to him, ‘You wicked servant! I forgave you all that debt because you begged me. Should you not also have had compassion on your fellow servant, just as I had pity on you?’ And his master was angry, and delivered him to the torturers until he should pay all that was due to him.” Who are the torturers? The demons of fear and torment. 1 John 4:18 “There is no fear in love; but perfect love casts out fear, because fear involves torment. But he who fears has not been made perfect in love.” What was it that Jesus told us that the wicked servant first said to the master? And I was afraid, and went and hid your talent in the ground. This may come as a shock to some, but not all believers will be rapture! They will all be saved but not all will be taken up to be with Jesus when He first returns, some believers, if not many, will be turned over to the tormenting demons that will be released during the first five months of the Wrath of God upon the earth. Psalm 78:49 “He unleashed against them his hot anger, his wrath, indignation and hostility—a band of destroying angels.” So that in both cases, the servant that refused to forgive as he had been forgiven and the one who feared being accountable to the Master, neither of them had been made perfect in love, so that fear and torment will be the catalysts that God uses to perfect them into the kingdom. Fear and Torment will drive Neglect and Complacency out of the believers that refuse to be perfected in love! What is it then that Jesus expects from us at His return? Matthew 25:13 “Watch therefore, for you know neither the day nor the hour in which the Son of Man is coming.” What does it mean to watch? I think it has to do with expectation; what are your expectations of Jesus as He returns? Is He coming to save you, or is He coming to judge you? What will His return be like? If you are complacent and neglectful about someone’s imminent visit, it would seem that you really do not care much about them. Your attitude may be that of, Well if I am not home when they happen to come, too bad. If the house is a mess when they come, who cares. That type of attitude implies that you own the house and that He is only a visitor, but if you are a believer you need to realize that He owns you and that He has invested into your life the gift of His life. He is not coming back to sit down and chit chat with you, He is coming back to claim the rewards from the gifts that He has invested in you and in your life. Matthew 5:16 “Let your light so shine before men, that they may see your good works and glorify your Father in heaven.” Let me ask you this, if I may; Does your life transcend this life? Matthew 16:25 “For whosoever desires to save his life will lose it, but whoever loses his life for My sake will find it.” What light am I suppose to shine? What does it mean to lose our lives for His sake? What is transcendence? Jesus invested His life into our lives so that our lives can transcend and become one with His life. And just like He gave up His natural life to obtain a higher physical/spiritual eternal life, so must we. There is no hope in this life of death outside of the resurrection from the dead into eternal physical and spiritual life. Now if the return of Christ completes the natural life that is totally surrendered to Him, a life that is dead to the things of this world and alive in the hope of the resurrection from the dead, then His return is the most important event in all of life, and just a hint that it may be nearer should cause us to focus more closely into His possible return in our day. What is the engine that drives you? What are the predominant thoughts that preoccupy your mind as you fall asleep every night? Do you think about those love ones that may not be ready when our Lord returns? Are you planning your strategy for when the skies turn dark and the unbelievers fear? Are you prepared to tell them that Jesus is coming and that if they call on His name they will be saved? Psalm 116:10 “I believed, therefore I spoke…” A light shines through us as the result of a fire that is burning within us. If the Lord is our passion, if His Word is our compass, and if we make our lives His life, living for that wonderful moment when He appears to take us away with Him that we may be like Him, then we have already transcended this present life and are more than ready to be rescued. Top of Page DEMISE OF THE NATIONS Romans 1:18 “For the wrath of God is revealed from heaven against all ungodliness and unrighteousness of men, who suppress (hold down) the truth in unrighteousness.” Would you like to know when will the final wrath of God be revealed from heaven to the people of the world? Our next verse of Scripture tells us the precise moment when it happens. Revelation 6:16-17 “And said to the mountains and rocks, ‘Fall on us and hide us from the face of Him who sits on the throne and from the wrath of the Lamb! For the great day of His wrath has come, and who is able to stand?’” John tells us when it will happen in the book of Revelation, and Paul tells us why it will happen in his letter to the Romans. In Romans chapter one Paul is laying down a charge against the nations of the world, and his letter is addressed to all who are in Rome, the capital of the Roman empire. Romans 1:5, 7 “Through Him we have received grace and apostleship for obedience to the faith among all nations for His name...To all who are in Rome, beloved of God, called to be saints…” In our opening Scripture Paul reveals the foundation or count number one, we might say, of God’s charge against humanity; suppression of the truth. Since the truth of the Gospel of Jesus Christ has the power to save people from their sins, then those who suppress the proclamation of the Gospel of Truth are guilty of the blood of all those who end up in hell. Romans 1:17 “For in it (the Gospel) the righteousness of God is revealed from faith to faith; as it is written, ‘The just shall live by faith.’” Of course, during Paul’s day the persecution of the saints, those who accepted the truth of God, was tremendous, for they were compelled at their conversion to turn away from idolatry and to be delivered from the demons that lurked behind the idols they had been worshiping. But there is also a futuristic aspect to the charges that Paul is laying down in his indictment of the human race, for he says that since the creation of the world this suppression of the truth has been taking place, so that there has to be a future end to it. Romans 1:19-20 “Because what may be known of God is manifest in them, for God has shown it to them. For since the creation of the world His invisible attributes are clearly seen, being understood by the things that are made, even His eternal power and Godhead (divine nature, deity), so that they are without excuse.” The They are without excuse, are all those who suppress the truth that it is clearly manifested in the Gospel of Jesus Christ, be it in self-suppression, that is suppressing the truth within themselves, or in a greater plane, suppressing the Gospel within their own families, communities, or nations. To many who lived on the west and were raised under the Judeo Christian values of just a century ago, the thought of an era of secular humanism, void of God and morals, was a reprehensible idea to say the least, and just look where we are now after two world wars and a myriad of smaller ones. We live in a world where blood thirsty tyrants decimate entire populations, including their aged and their children along with their mothers, in instances they even use chemical weapons and their violent deaths are recorded live for everyone to see, and the world just does not seem to care. Then the very ones that are behind all the mayhem and have supplied those tyrants with their support and their deadly weaponry, are treated as heroes. What is happening to us? In the midst of so much wrong there does not seem to be a right way to turn to, why is that? Romans 1:25 “Who exchanged the truth of God for the lie, and worshiped and served the creature rather than the Creator, who is blessed forever. Amen.” Paul calls what is going on in our present day, in his second letter to the Thessalonians, the mystery of lawlessness. This mystery is revealed to us in our next verse of Scripture: Revelation 16:13-14 “And I saw three unclean spirits like frogs coming out of the mouth of the dragon, out of the mouth of the beast, and out of the mouth of the false prophet. For they are spirits of demons, performing signs, which go out to the kings of the earth and of the whole world, to gather them to the battle of that great day of God Almighty.” I believe that these three demons, that are finally exposed before the Lord destroys them, are the three forces, or influences, that drive our present-day leaders and their respective nations away from the Judeo-Christian traditions that they not so long ago embraced. There are three men whose influence upon the human race was pivotal to bring us into the chaotic situation that we find our world deep in today. They were, Darwin, Freud, and Marx; these three men, I believe, best exemplify the nature of the three major demonic influences that have brought so much havoc into our world today. Darwin with his theory of evolution and supremacy of the species, gave credence to the hatred that brought about man’s inhumanity to man, through the Nazi doctrine of ethnic cleansing, how else could well educated men have committed such atrocities unless they believed that they were doing the world a service by ridding it of inferior humans. One would think that their consciences would have pricked them to the point of realizing that what they were doing was so wrong. For how can one justify to oneself the slaughter of innocent people, specially woman and children? I guess we have Freud to thank for that, psychology and their understanding of it, enabled them to turn their guilt switch off, that is why after a long hard day of sending thousands of live innocent people to the gas chambers and their dead bodies to the fiery furnace, they could just enjoy a nice meal with their wives and family, and even go to a concert and enjoy themselves without a trace of shame or guilt for what they were doing. Proverbs 4:16-17 “For they do not sleep unless they have done evil; and their sleep is taken away unless they make someone fall. For they eat the bread of wickedness, and drink the wine of violence.” The first time that I heard the above Scripture being preached on, so many things finally made sense to me. The symbolism of eating something, biblically speaking, speaks of believing a doctrine with the heart, in their case, demonic doctrines, that they took into their hearts by believing them; when they did that the demons behind the doctrines followed them inside of that persons heart. Once those demons got inside of them, they got no rest until they acted out what their belief of that doctrine required of them, for the demons are the enforcers. They could not get a good night of sleep until they caused someone’s fall, we see this played out over and over again in all levels of society today. This brings us to the third force, spirit, or frog: Marxism. Socialism, which is a manifestation of Marxist ideology, dictates that the ruling class is to make all the important decisions in regards to the rest of humanity, for they see themselves as illuminated ones who have been entrusted with the knowledge that will save everyone else if they just do what they say must be done. In other words, they see people as stupid and unable to make their own choices, so they appoint themselves to make the right choices on behalf of everybody else, whether they like or not. That is why in socialist or communist countries only socialists or communists are allowed to run for political offices, you are allowed in some instances to change the collar but not the dog. We also see this in Islamic nations that allowed elections to take place, their political leaders change, but not the religious rulers that are the ones that really control all the power. We may not realize it, but that is what many of the western democracies have become, where we are forced to endure entrenched institutions like our judicial system for example, who continuously exercise their power to change legislation that does not fit within their anti-God objectives, and in some instances they legislate from the bench the things that even the legislators themselves are unable to pass. Here in America we see this also more and more from the executive branch of government, when their agenda is rejected by the legislators, they are somehow able to implement their agenda through executive orders, thereby defying the will of the people that elected the legislators to oppose such agenda. And, this is new, in many instances the executive branch refuses to enforce the laws that they disagree with. So they make it impossible to bring real change, for it does not matter who gets elected, things never change for the better, they just keep getting worse for the real people that have to follow the rules that they make for the rest of us and that do not even apply to themselves. That is why the wrath of God will soon be revealed from heaven upon all the nations of the world, and that is why all the nations and peoples of the world will be running for their bomb shelters when the see the glorious Lamb of God coming, for that is who they have really being fighting all along. But we do not have to drink in their poison, for we are partakers of something that is far superior of what this world has to offer. John 8:31-32 “...If you abide in My word, you are My disciples indeed.
