Now arise, get out of this land, and return to the land of Top of Page THE ANOINTED VOW Genesis 31:13 “I am the God of Bethel, where you anointed the pillar and where you made a vow to Me. Now arise, get out of this land, and return to the land of your family.” There are many facets to God’s anointing and to the power that flows out of His anointing, in this lesson we will deal with the timing aspect of God’s anointing. Galatians 4:4 “But when the fullness of the time had come, God sent forth His Son, born of a woman, born under the law.” If you have been a Christian for a while, you know that the fulfillment of God’s promises always follows a clearly prescribed path. God gives us the promise, we believe in the promise that He gives us, and at the appropriate time we see its fulfillment take place in our lives. I believe that there is an aspect of God’s anointing, be it personal or corporal, that follows the same principle. Whenever we see a revival taking place, whether it be in a church, a city, or even a nation, it is the result of an anointed vow that persons made in the past concerning the areas where the revival is taking place. Keep this in mind, God always answers anointed prayers, even long after we have forgotten that we prayed them. I had a vision of the rapture that transformed everything in my Christian way of life back in February 12, 1989. As a result of the vision I searched desperately for a way to understand prophecy. Eight years to the very date, the book of Revelation finally made sense to me. I even wrote a book about it, it is called Man’s Final Destiny , where I put end time prophecy into the proper and understandable perspective as it is portrayed in the book of Revelation. I had gathered and compiled a great deal of notes and references while I endeavor to understand prophecy, along with those many notes I had a notebook where I had chronicled past daily reading of Scripture and the notes that I took while I was reading them. As a started to put those implements away since I now had the information that had eluded me all those years, I opened the notebook of past prayers to see where to store it, when an entry dated February 12 caught my eye, since this was the anniversary of my vision of the rapture. It turns out that years earlier before I had the vision of the rapture, I had read a Scripture in the book of Revelation and could not understand what it meant. I wrote the Scripture in the notebook and next to it I wrote an entry where I asked the Lord, would He please give me the ability to understand prophecy. So here I had evidence of a sincere prayer that I had prayed years earlier that I had forgotten, and God made sure that I would know that it was an answer to that simple prayer that I had prayed earlier by making the events to take place in the same calendar day. Both the vision of the rapture that compelled me to search and the day when it all finally made sense to me, fell on the anniversary of that simple anointed prayer. Genesis 28:17-19 “And he was afraid and said, ‘How awesome is this place! This is none other than the house of God, and this is the gate of heaven!’ Then Jacob rose early in the morning, and took the stone that he had put at his head, set it up as a pillar, and poured oil on top of it. And he called the name of that place Bethel (house of God); but the name of that city had been Luz previously.” Then Jacob proceeded to make a vow before the Lord, and it was in answer to the anointed vow that Jacob had made earlier that has our opening text where God tells him to, 'Now arise, get out of this land, and return to the land of your family'. The prayer, the vow, the anointing, in faith believing in God’s promises; it is all a process, and a process always requires the passing of time. But to be sure, no matter how long it takes, whether we remember or have forgotten, God never forgets, for it is the presence of the anointing that serves as watchmen that are always there to remind Him. Isaiah 62:6-7 “I have set watchmen on your walls, O Jerusalem; they shall never hold their peace day or night. You who make mention of the Lord, do not keep silent, and give Him no rest till He establishes and till He makes Jerusalem a praise in the earth.” We see the same principle at work in the verse above. Jerusalem’s destiny is to be the city of the Great King, for Jesus will rule the earth from there during His thousand-year reign, when He will make Jerusalem to become a praise in the earth. Now during Isaiah’s day that future reign was about twenty-seven hundred years away, we are almost there now, but all this time the anointing has not ceased to call out to God to perform it. In the same manner there is an anointing that covers each one of us who believes in His promises, that anointing is continuously calling out to God to perform that which He has promised to do for us. 1 John 2:20 “But you have an anointing from the Holy One, and you know all things (intuitively).” How do we sort all this out? We need to understand the process! 2 Timothy 1:9 “Who has saved us and called us with a holy calling, not according to our works, but according to His own purpose and grace which was given to us in Christ Jesus before time began.” First notice how Paul makes it clear that the holy calling is not according to our own works, but according to His own purpose and grace. Grace here means His gifts for us and that before time itself ever began. Step number one: We need to get saved! We need to understand that even before the creation, we were destined, and created to fulfill a purpose, His own purpose. Romans 3:23 “For all have sinned and fall short of the glory (our destiny) of God.” But since we all have inherited a corrupt nature, we need to get saved that is we need to become born again of an incorruptible nature. Once we become saved, we are now qualified once again to fulfill His destiny for us, which when we do, it is all to the glory of God. Colossians 1:12 “Giving thanks to the Father who has qualified us to be partakers of the inheritance of the saints in the light.” Step number two: We need to answer the holy calling! Matthew 22:14 “For many are called, but few are chosen.” The only ones chosen are the ones who answer the call, not just in word but in deed as well. Matthew 6:10 “Your kingdom come, Your will be done on earth as it is in heaven.” We answer the holy calling when we consecrate ourselves to bring about God’s kingdom upon this earth and His good and perfect will in our lives. Step number three: We make a holy vow before the Lord! Deuteronomy 12:26 “Only the holy things which you have (our holy calling), and your vowed offerings (our lives), you shall take and go to the place which the Lord chooses (which is His destiny for us). His salvation for us qualifies us to answer His holy calling, and in order for us to perform His holy calling in our lives, we need to take an oath of office if you will, and the only thing that we can bring into this oath is our positive answer to His call and a surrender of our lives to fulfill it. As we make a vow before the Lord, the Lord seals it with His anointing oil, which then continuously calls out to God to perform in us that which He originally destined us to be, as long as we stay the course. Step number four: He leads, and we follow! I pleasantly remember those early days of our Christian youth, when both, my wife and I would fall before the altar of our church whenever the Holy Spirit was moving in our midst, and there we would cry out to God: we will go where you want us to go, over mountains, over plains, over seas, and we will do what you want us to do! Other than to teach His Word, I never got any specific assignment or thing that I was to do, I just served in whatever area there was a need. But as I look back now I can see how important those early day vows were to our Lord. For it was there that the Lord placed His anointing over our lives that still directs our paths to this very day. Step number five: Forsake the world, Get out of this land! As the Lord told Jacob. Matthew 7:13-14 “Enter by the narrow gate; for wide is the gate and broad is the way that leads to destruction, and there are many who go in by it. Because narrow is the gate and difficult (confined) is the way which leads to life, and there are few who find it.” The allure of this world system is ease; live it up. Why should you suffer confinement instead of comfort? Keep it simple and avoid as much tribulation and persecution as you possible can. This so call gospel radiates out of many churches today, but Jesus warned us about this false gospel, not to fall for it. Matthew 7:15-16 “Beware of false prophets, who come to you in sheep’s clothing, but inwardly they are ravenous wolves. You will know them by their fruits. Do men gather grapes from thornbushes or figs from thistles?” Remember how the Lord told us that in this world we would have tribulation; so that the confinement of the true Gospel is the world’s aim, so that if we are suffering tribulation for the stand that we take, we know then that we are entering in the narrow gate and following the road of difficulties for that is His good and perfect will for us. House of Faith Ministries (HoFM) presents a teaching on Zechariah 2:5 “For I, says the Lord, will be a wall of fire all around her, and I will be the glory in her midst.” Top of Page IT IS THE ANOINTING OIL THAT BREAKS THE YOKE Zechariah 2:5 “For I, says the Lord, will be a wall of fire all around her, and I will be the glory in her midst.” The ministry of anointing with oil is one of the most mysterious things that we can find in the Bible, yet it is one of the most powerful. The anointing oil can be applied to kings, to priests, to sacraments, to places, and as we see in our opening text, to cities as well. In the case of Jerusalem, we cannot see it with our carnal eyes, but God has anointed that city and if we could look through the eyes of the Spirit, we would see the anointing that covers Jerusalem as a wall of fire that surrounds her and covers her with God’s mighty protection. Isaiah 10:27 “It shall come to pass in that day that his burden will be taken away from your shoulder, and his yoke from your neck, and the yoke will be destroyed because of the anointing oil.” But more important of all, as far as we humans are concern, the anointing with oil has the power to deliver us from the burden of transgression and the yoke of slavery to sin. James 5:14-15 “Is anyone among you sick? Let him call for the elders of the church, and let them pray over him, anointing him with oil in the name of the Lord. And the prayer of faith will save the sick, and the Lord will raise him up. And if he has committed sins, he will be forgiven.” What is the mystery of the anointing with oil besides what might be obvious to us? I spent many a times praying for people who were in need of deliverance from demonic strongholds, and one of the many things that I learned in my dealings with those oppressive demonic entities, was how demons perceive humanity and our physical realm from their underworld perspective, we need to remember that they live in a totally different dimension than we do. I believe that when demons look at us humans what they mainly see is an aura around us that may differ in intensity as well as in color, and that is how they perceive the human condition. Since we humans are two thirds spirit and one third human, for we are made of spirit, soul, and body, what demons mainly see when they look at us, is our own spiritual orb that surround us. So that if we are walking under Christ’s anointing, and since Christ means Anointed One, when a demon looks at us under the anointing, they cannot tell whether it is us or Jesus Christ who they are facing. Luke 10:19-20 “Behold, I give you the authority to trample on serpents and scorpions (demonic entities), and over all the power of the enemy, and nothing shall by any means hurt you. Nevertheless do not rejoice in this, that the spirits are subject to you, but rather rejoice because your names are written in Heaven.” I believe that what Jesus is teaching us in Luke 10 is that as born-again believers, born again means to be born of the Spirit of God, there is an aura around us that all spirits recognize and that they must submit to. In other words, Jesus is telling us not to rejoice in the fact that we have power over the demonic spirits, but rather, that we rejoice in the anointing that is over us and that covers us, because of our position in the spiritual realm due to the Anointed One dwelling in us through His Spirit. Psalm 105:15 “Saying, ‘Do not touch My anointed ones, and do My prophets no harm.’” So that there is a de-facto anointing that personally covers all born again believers and that all demonic entities must recognize. But the ministry of the anointing with oil varies greatly and the greater our understanding of how it works the more powerful and effective that we can become in our ministries, and the better that we can protect ourselves, our families, and our properties from the evil one. Let us take a look at a few of the many applications of the anointing with oil. Let us begin with the anointing for peace. Jeremiah 29:7 “And seek the peace of the city where I have caused you to be carried away captive, and pray to the Lord for it; for in its peace you will have peace.” One thing that I do recommend for churches to do, and individual believers as well, is to take oil and anoint the places where your city begins and ends, what the Bible calls the city gates or entrances. The way that we did it in the past is to go east and west, and north and south of the city, and pour anointing oil on the entrances of our city and pray for God’s anointing of peace to dwell in that city where we live. Then we proceed to anoint our property lines, by pouring anointing oil all around the perimeter of what we own or rent, the place where we live, and we pray for God’s protection over it and ask for His peace to abide there as well. Why is that important? Romans 8:21 “Because the creation itself also will be delivered from the bondage of corruption into the glorious liberty of the children of God.” Since we, the children of God, are walking under the liberating covering of God’s anointing that preserves us from the corruption of this world, we can proclaim liberty over the part of the creation that we do occupy. How does that work, spiritually speaking? 1 Peter 5:8 “Be sober, be vigilant; because your adversary the devil walks (roams) about like a roaring lion, seeking whom he may devour.” Since wicked spirits tune in to areas that emanate gloominess and darkness, where spiritual disorder and chaos reigns, and since they roam about looking for innocent victims that they can lure into their traps without repercussions, it is important for the believers that inhabit those areas to anoint with oil those same areas that they occupy. Spirits can instantly discern the places where believers have prayed for God’s peace to reign, and if they anointed the places where they prayed with oil, that anointing oil in the spiritual realm, shines like a mighty fire from God that warns those malevolent sprits to watch out, for there is swift retribution coming their way if they trespass over the anointing that covers those areas that believers have placed under their anointing. Is the same for our homes, where we have anointed our boundaries with anointing oil, for it will be a wall of fire all around her, and I will be the glory in her midst. We are also to anoint our home with oil both inside and out, now why do we need to do that? Deuteronomy 23:14 “For the Lord your God walks in the midst of your camp, to deliver you and give your enemies over to you; therefore your camp shall be holy, that He may see no unclean thing among you, and turn away from you.” Just like the anointing oil shines in the spiritual realm to drive away predators, it also serves as a welcome sign for God’s holy angels that also move around the earth to do God’s bidding. But even more precious than that, God takes pleasure in walking is our midst during our times of repose, and a home or a room where the anointing oil has been placed indicates to our Lord that this place has been reserved for His presence, and that He is always welcome there. And then we are also to anoint ourselves personally as a sign of gratitude before the Lord, to show not only to ourselves, but to show others as well, and to show God Himself, that we will always belong to Him, our entire person, spirit soul and body are His habitation. Isaiah 65:16 “So that he who blesses himself in the earth shall bless himself in the God of truth; and he who swears in the earth shall swear by the God of truth; because the former troubles are forgotten, and because they are hidden from My eyes.” What is it in us that is hidden from God’s eyes? And the yoke will be destroyed because of the anointing oil. The true anointing, for that is what we bless ourselves with while here in the earth, covers all of our infirmities and sins, the burden of sin and the yoke of oppression that is still in our mortal flesh and are driven away by the anointing oil that we bless ourselves with. Mark 6:13 “And they cast out many demons, and anointed with oil many who were sick, and healed them.” The anointing oil preserves us until the day of redemption. Acts 10:38 “How God anointed Jesus of Nazareth with the Holy Spirit and with power, who went about doing good and healing all who were oppressed by the devil, for God was with Him.” Jesus the Anointed One walked about doing good and searching for those who were oppressed by the devil, and then He set them all free, for God was with Him. 2 Corinthians 1:21 “Now He who establishes us with you in Christ and has anointed us is God.” The same God that anointed Jesus of Nazareth with the Holy Spirit and with power to drive out all the workers of iniquity, is the same God that has anointed us in Jesus Christ His anointed One in order for us to drive out all the workers of iniquity in our sphere of influence as well. And it is through the power of His anointing oil that the yoke will be destroyed. Pray as to what type of oil the Lord wants you to use, I usually get extra virgin olive oil which I can buy in the market and is not too expensive for me, but you can use whatever is available to you and that you believe it is acceptable before God. Get the oil, bring it before the Lord and ask Him to bless it, after it is blessed do not use that consecrated oil for nothing else but for anointing purposes. Top of Page A SPIRIT OF DEEP SLEEP HOVERS OVER AMERICA Isaiah 29:10 “For the Lord has poured out on you the spirit of deep sleep, and has closed your eyes, namely, the prophets; and He has covered your heads, namely, the seers.” These are indeed difficult times for the faithful here in America, it does not take a political or economic expert to realize that our nation is in great trouble. Morally speaking it’s even worst, we are bitterly divided, and have lost our sense of direction, and it does not look as if it’s going to get better anytime soon. In our Scripture it declares that a spirit is the culprit, a spirit of deep sleep. Now within the context, Isaiah is speaking to Jerusalem, the city of David. But within the greater context, Isaiah’s prophecy can be applied to any great nation that has lost its moral compass. Is there any doubt about America’s greatness? Surely not. Is there any doubt that America has lost her sense of direction? Not from where I’m standing. In this chapter Isaiah is lamenting about the blindness that is caused by disobedience. When persons as well as nations betray the founding principles upon which they were called and/or built, they become blinded to their mission, and become bitterly divided within themselves. The question that I asked when I first read our Scripture, was basically this, what came first? The spirit of deep sleep that closed the eyes and covered the heads of the seers. Or was it the silence of the prophets and seers that allowed the spirit of deep sleep to enter? Some may say, it does not matter at this point. But for me it is important to know, because it is through understanding that wisdom materializes, and it is wisdom that affords us a way of escape, if there is one to be found. Isaiah 29:9 “Pause and wonder! Blind yourselves and be blind…” Let us pause and wonder here for a moment. How does a nation blinds itself? By refusing to follow its destiny! Here is where I, as a Christian, disagree with many secular conservative pundits. America is a great nation not because of the many great men and women of her illustrious history, who had great forth sight into the founding and direction that this nation was to follow, and we did have them, thank God. But that is not why America is a great nation, America was destined to become a great nation by God, and I maintain, that the founding fathers knew that, and that is what made them great, they understood the will of God for the nation that they were founding. Isaiah 29:13 “Therefore the Lord said: ‘Inasmuch as these people draw near with their mouths and honor Me with their lips, but have removed their hearts far from Me, and their fear toward Me is taught by the commandment of men.’” Have you notice how politicians here in America, after giving some great speech to their constituencies always seem to end with the phrase; God bless America. They honor God with their lips, but they really do not desire God’s will for America in their own hearts. If they did, they wouldn't be doing the things that they do behind our backs. Isaiah 29:15 “Woe to those who seek deep to hide their counsel far from the Lord, and their works are in the dark; they say, ‘Who sees us?’ and, ‘Who knows us?’” If there is a price for a Bible verse that most reveals how our political process works now days in America, I think I have the winning entry. What was it that the former speaker of the house once said? You have to pass the bill if you want to find out what’s in it. We are finding out alright, and it's not good, so, is par for the course. But here is where we really get into trouble; Fear toward Me (this is what God says) is taught by the commandment of men. Today, morality in America is taught by those whose hearts are far from God. The entertainment industry, whose primary goal is to please their audiences and to make money, are the main drivers of our present-day culture. Pundits who are more worried about ratings than what God says, are telling us, Bible thumping does not work, basically they are saying, keep your God out of it, after all we have made our own moral codes and they are based on the commandments of man, passed by legislators and judges who do their best works in secret, out of the people’s eyes. So, if in spite of all these facts , the citizens of America decide to follow their counsel, then, blind yourselves and be blind! Isaiah 29:14 “Therefore, behold, I will again do a marvelous work among this people, a marvelous work and a wonder; for the wisdom of their wise men shall perish, and the understanding of their prudent men shall be hidden.” This is how we can confirm that our nation is under a spirit of deep sleep; there is no one left on the scene that is wise or prudent enough to get us out of the mess we are in. The more they try, the deeper in the hole we get, is almost like quicksand . Every time we try to make our situation better by some legislative maneuver, it seems to work against us, and it just makes it worst, we just keep getting deeper in debt. Isaiah 29:8 “It shall be even as when a hungry man dreams, and look—he eats; but he awakes, and his soul still empty; or as when a thirsty man dreams, and look—he drinks; but he awakes, and indeed he is faint, and his soul still craves: so the multitude of all the nations shall be, who fight against Mount Zion.” Boy it cannot get any more real than what the Lord says; its like living in a dream, isn’t that what happens when you are under the influence of a spirit of deep sleep? We kid ourselves that everything is going to be alright in spite of the mess we are in, we believe it, and reassure ourselves of what we believe, but then we wake up and look at the facts, and man, it keeps getting worse, how is that for reality? One of two things will happen to us, either we as a nation wake up and repent, and ask the Lord to forgive us for deviating from the destiny for which He created America, or the Lord returns and takes the faithful away while He judges the ungodly for their ungodly acts that they have committed. Which one will it be? Well, if we repent this is what will happen: Isaiah 29:24 “These also who erred in spirit (of deep sleep) will come to understanding, and those who complained will learn doctrine.” What a beautiful promise, but here is the key; we have to come to an understanding of the truth before we can learn doctrine. Is America a special nation that God ordained to shine His light during trouble times? Yes, that is the truth! Is America currently living up to the founding principles for which God created her? No she is not, and that’s the truth! What if we do not repent as a nation? Isaiah 29:6 “ You will be punish by the Lord of hosts with thunder and earthquake and great noise, with storm and tempest and the flame of devouring fire.” The choice is clear, and no matter which pundits approve or disapprove, or what politicians or other groups are offended by our stance, our foundation is in the Bible and the confidence that we have on the inerrancy of the Holy Scriptures. Let not our speech be timid, for we have the truth on our side, so let us proclaim it boldly, for we do love this nation, and when we ask God for His blessings upon America is not a slogan that we say to incur favor with people; it flows out of a deeply thankful heart that realizes that without God’s favor upon them, the nations languish in spiritual darkness until they perish from the face of the earth to be no more. Top of Page FAITH COMES BY HEARING Romans 10:17 “So then faith comes by hearing, and hearing by the word of God.” There is listening and there is hearing, while listening has a more common connotation, hearing implies a more personal tone, and since the catalyst is the Word of God, what that means is that the more personal that we make the Word of God, the greater our faith. Hebrews 4:2 “For indeed the gospel was preached to us as well as to them; but the word which they heard did not profit them, not being mixed with faith (taken personally) in those who heard it.” The letter to the Hebrews makes it very clear that those who struggle with the promises of God, do so, because of their failure to enter into the rest that the Word of God brings to those who accept it as the final authority in regards to any issue that they are dealing with. Hebrews 4:3 “For we who have believe do enter that rest…” So that true faith arises out of a decision made by a believer who reads the Word, hears what it says with the heart, and then settles the matter within his/her heart regardless of what the circumstances dictate. If God says that I am healed, and He does, I am! For the Scripture declares this: by whose stripes you were healed (1 Peter 2:24); but you may ask, what if I am still sick after I believed, for how can I reconcile the reality of His promises with the actuality of my situation? Romans 10:13 “For whoever calls on the name of the Lord shall be saved.” If you’ve called on the name of the Lord you are saved! Does that mean that you are perfect and heavenly material already? Of course not, salvation is automatic, for God considers us saved from the moment that we believe in His Gospel, but our transformation is a process. The same principle applies to our deliverance, to our healing, and to our restoration, for they are all part of our salvation. 2 Corinthians 3:18 “But we all, with unveiled face, beholding as in a mirror the glory of the Lord, are being transformed into the same image from glory to glory, just as by the Spirit of the Lord.” Since faith comes by hearing, that is, taking to heart what He has promised us, and since what He has promised us is a process, then we better understand the process so that we can make our faith more real than the so called reality that we are actually facing. James 1:12 “Blessed is the man who endures temptation; for when he has been approved, he will receive the crown of life which the Lord has promised to those who love Him.” So that the process of faith involves us having to endure trials and temptations until we are approved and receive the crown, that is, until we pass the test for which the temptation came in the first place. What is God’s goal for us while we are having to endure the process of trials and temptations? Romans 12:2 “And do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind, that you may prove what is that good and acceptable and perfect will of God.” Since friendship with the world is enmity with God, and since we are now in God, the worldly mindset that we have inherited has to be worked out of us in order for us to receive the promises of God. James 4:4 “Adulterers and adulteresses! Do you not know that friendship with the world is enmity with God? Whoever therefore wants to be a friend of the world makes himself an enemy of God.” The mindset of the world is one of total dependency in the things that are in this world, while the word of faith requires us to be dependent of one thing and only one thing, the Word of God. Romans 8:7 “Because the carnal mind is enmity against God; for it is not subject to the law of God, nor indeed can be.” The process of hearing involves a change of mind, a turning around, which by the way it is what the word repent means, to turn around and to enter into a new mindset. So that from the moment that we’ve repented of our sins before God, the process began. Let us look at the question that we asked earlier with this new perspective in mind. What if I am still sick after I believed, for how can I reconcile the reality of His promises with the actuality of my situation? Did what you believed make you less dependent on the remedy that the world offers for your sickness and more dependent in the Word of God? There is a great deal of controversy now between what the church teaches and what modern medicine prescribes, for if you tell people to be less dependent on the drugs modern medicine prescribes and more trusting in faith, you can be sued and found liable in a court of law. For there will always be enmity between the world and the Word. But what I am dealing with here are the principles of faith, I have no problem with the medicine that God has created, for man has known of the benefits that medicine provides for ages. The more pertinent question then, is this: Does true medicine come from the world or from God? Is God not the Creator? Yes He is! Then all good medicine comes from Him and not from the world, and definitely not from man. Does God use the world to bring forth medicine that heals? Yes He does, He uses people as well to heal other people, but the healing does not come from the medicine or from the people He uses, the healings come from Him and Him alone, from the One who created all things. And that is the transformation that renews the mind, and until we learn that we do not pass the test. For the world has the habit of blaming God for all the bad that it causes, and is always eager to take credit for all the healings that God brings about into the world. Hebrews 11:1 “Now faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen.” Faith makes that which exists in the invisible realm of the promises that we find in the Word of God, come alive in material form, faith in the God who created everything gives substance to that which we hope for. When Jesus told us that in this world we would have tribulations, He was warning us that our faith will always be tested by this world system. 1 John 5:4 “For whatever is born of God overcomes the world. And this is the victory that has overcome the world—our faith.” But with every testing we have the opportunity to gain the victory, to wear the victor’s crown, which is the faith that transcends the weariness of this world system that is corrupt and without hope. Everyday we are given the opportunity to choose what to believe. The world will always challenge the works of the Creator, will always bring into question the necessity of faith, will always deride the workings of faith, will always condemn divergence, and the reason why the world is always wrong is because it cannot comprehend the miracle of the invisible power that not only created it but that also sustains it. John 1:5 “And the light shines in the darkness, and the darkness did not comprehend it.” But if you are born again, born of the Spirit of the Living God, the One who created everything, you are qualified to not only comprehend this mystery of faith but to thrive in it, if you do not fail the test. Colossians 1:12 “Giving thanks to the Father who has qualified us to be partakers of the inheritance of the saints in the light.” Do not let the world steal your inheritance; dare to believe the Word of God, no matter what the cost; learn the lesson of faith, pass the test and receive the crown of life. Let them lead me; let them bring me to Your holy hill and to Your tabernacle (dwelling place).” There has always been oppression from God’s enemy Satan against those whose desire is to do God’s will. In many instances some even experience greater persecution than others. It is like that today as well. But there is a kind of persecution that those who experience it, feel like they have been personally targeted. And it soon becomes obvious to them that in order for them to be delivered from such persecution that they need to be personally vindicated. 1 Corinthians 10:13 “No temptation has overtaken you except such as is common to man; but God is faithful, who will not allow you to be tempted beyond what you are able, but with the temptation will also make the way of escape, that you may be able to bear (endure) it.” It is true that all persecution is such as that which is common to man. But it is also true that some are able to endure more than others, so that the intensity of the persecution may vary from one individual to another. 2 Corinthians 12:7 “And lest I should be exalted above measure by the abundance of the revelations, a thorn in the flesh was given to me, a messenger of Satan to buffet me, lest I be exalted above measure.” It is also true that for those who are seeking and receiving spiritual revelation from the Lord, in order to keep their pride at bay, the Lord allows them to endure greater persecution than others, but never more than that which they are able to endure. We see this with people who are placed in high positions of spiritual authority. They have to endure greater waves of persecution, in order to keep them from giving into the pride that follows their high position which would cause them to fall. That is why the Bible warns against installing untested novices in high positions of authority, for they will not be able to endure the level of persecution that naturally follows such high positions. Psalm 43:1 “Vindicate me, O God, and plead my cause against an ungodly nation; Oh, deliver me from the deceitful and unjust man!” It is clear from the opening of Psalm forty-three, that the psalmist is dealing with the kind of persecution that has targeted him personally. Here we see an opportunity to learn how to deal with this kind of personal persecution and how to discern the difference between this kind of persecution and that which is common to man. It appears that the origin of this temptation was an ungodly nation who had targeted individuals like the writer of this Psalm for personal attacks. It also involved a deceitful and unjust man who was personally, unjustly, and deceitfully, attacking the writer of this Psalm and those like him. Psalm 42:10 “As with a breaking of my bones, my enemies reproach (revile) me, while they say to me all day long, ‘Where is your God?’” The difference between the temptations which are commonly natural to all believers, and the persecutions that arise out of an ungodly nation is the unleashing of the demonic hordes that are able to afflict a nation who has turned from God to the wickedness of this world. Proverbs 14:34 “Righteousness exalts a nation, but sin is a reproach to any people.” These demonic hordes target those who are spiritual and who are able to warn the nation of the dangers into which it has fallen. Judge, after judge, after judge, keep ruling against the will of the American people. It seems that no matter what good moral laws we pass, what constitutional amendments we write and vote into law, all it takes is one federal judge to declare it null and void. The high stakes of this spiritual warfare are enormous, for the future of the nation, and to a lesser degree, the future of the world is being decided. Psalm 43:2 “For You are the God of my strength; why do You cast me off? Why do I go mourning because of the oppression of the enemy?” Like the psalmist, we end up feeling rejected and left out by God Himself. How can we stand up against these demonic hordes that are running rampant against our nations? Let’s take another look into our opening text. Psalm 43:3 “Oh, send out Your light and Your truth! Let them lead me; let them bring me to Your holy hill and to Your tabernacle.” Light, or enlightening truth from God is the only thing that is able to drive away any and all demonic hordes from our midst. However, this powerful force of deliverance needs a dwelling place, a tabernacle in this earth in order to be successful. In order to become a tabernacle for God’s delivering power, we have to enter into His holy hill and abide with Him in His tabernacle. We dealt with this in the previous lesson; according to Psalm 24, only those who have clean hands and a pure heart, who have not lifted up their souls to idols nor sworn deceitfully are able to receive this power. Psalm 24:3-4 “Who may ascend into the hill of the Lord? Or who may stand in His holy place? He who has clean hands and a pure heart, who has not lifted up his soul to an idol, nor sworn deceitfully.” Now, more than ever before, fellowship with this world system can have disastrous consequences on our ability to powerfully intercede against all the evil forces that war from within our nations governments against the Word of God. So that we see the interaction between the corporal and the individual. The ungodly nation and the deceitful and unjust man. David was just an individual, but he refused to compromise with the sin of idolatry. God rewarded his faithfulness by making him king of the nation of Israel, and David drove that nation into its highest glory. Saul, the first king of Israel became an idolater—for his disobedience was as the sin of witchcraft—and he severely and personally persecuted David aiming to destroy his life. How did David overcome the personal persecution that aimed to destroy him personally and the purpose that God had for David’s life? Psalm 26:4-5 “I have not sat with idolatrous mortals, nor will I go in with hypocrites, I have hated the assembly of evildoers, and will not sit with the wicked.” Notice how David begins Psalm twenty-six the same way that the other psalmist began Psalm forty-three, Vindicate me, O Lord. Psalm 26:1 “Vindicate me, O Lord, for I have walked in my integrity. I have also trusted in the Lord; I shall not slip.” Under king Saul, both the nation and the king persecuted David, for Saul pursued David with Israel’s army for the purpose of killing him. David prayed to the Lord, and I’m paraphrasing: Vindicate me, O Lord, for I have not walked in their idolatry; that is what he meant by I have walked in my integrity. He continued, I did not sit with them, and I will not sit with them, the idolaters and the evil doers. I will not be a part of their wickedness, no matter how much it costs me. David triumphed over the man by refusing to partake in his idolatry, and by faithfully waiting on God and not taking matters into his own hands. He pleased God—and God gave to him the nation of Israel as his reward. The greatest desire of David’s heart was to build a dwelling place for the glory of God to rest while here on the earth! It is safe to say that God had already found a dwelling place here on the earth in the heart of David. Psalm 43:4 “Then I will go to the altar of God, to God my exceeding joy; and on the harp I will praise You, O God, my God.” It does not matter whether it is David, the sons of Korah, or us; when we make our God our exceeding joy, renounce all idolatries, and cry out to God for vindication—God’s dwelling place takes residence within us. The anointing oil distilled from the fragrance of our songs of praise breaks off the oppression of the enemy and we are able to enter into the hill of the Lord with thanksgivings in our hearts. Isaiah 61:3 “To console those who mourn in Zion, to give them beauty for ashes, the oil of joy for mourning, the garment of praise for the spirit of heaviness; that they may be called trees of righteousness, the planting of the Lord, that He may be glorified.” There is no doubt that the nations of the world that once honored the Gospel of Jesus Christ, have turned their backs on the God of the Gospel; they have decided to follow the god’s of their own making and imaginations. They now live with open reproach and contempt against those of us who have kept the faith of our founding fathers. They have elected for themselves leaders that represent their contempt against us in the way they govern. They have deceived and continued to deceive those who should know better, into keeping them in power. They have no regard for truth. They do not care how much misery they inflict upon those whom they deceive. Their hatred towards God has no bounds since their father is the devil, who was a liar and a murderer from the very beginning. But we know them, we know the spirits that drive them, and we have no part with them. Let the dead bury their own dead. As for us, this is our heartfelt prayer: Oh Lord, send out Your light and Your truth! Let them lead us. Let Your light and Your truth bring us into Your holy hill and into Your tabernacle. Psalm 25:4-5 “Show me Your ways, O Lord; teach me Your paths. Before time began means that before God created our universe, He not only had a purpose for creating it—which had been hidden from us—but within that purpose was also intricately hidden the mystery of grace, and both were destined to be revealed to us in Christ Jesus. Romans 16:25 "Now to Him who is able to establish you according to my gospel and the preaching of Jesus Christ, according to the revelation of the mystery kept secret (hidden) since the world began." I believe this mystery to be the revelation of the purpose behind the creation which is two-fold, God's purpose and grace. Now we who presently know God's mercy and have tasted of the sweet nectar of God's grace towards us, in the salvation that we now enjoy in Jesus, have also been given the privilege to know the hidden purpose behind the creation in which we now exist. Romans 11:33 "Oh, the depth of the riches both of the wisdom and knowledge of God (God's purpose and grace)! How unsearchable are His judgments and His ways past finding out!" It is with confidence in the abilities given to us by the Holy Spirit through the power of His grace that works within us, that we now endeavor in searching out what God's real purpose was behind the creation of our universe, and how grace was the bulwark that sustained that purpose. Daniel 2:22 "He reveals deep and secret things; He knows what is in the darkness, and light dwells with Him." I believe the key that unravels the mystery behind the purpose for the creation lies in understanding the meaning of darkness and its interaction with the light. We could also call it the struggle between good and evil. In either case, the true revelation of the mystery behind the creation can only bring glory to God and to Jesus Christ, who is the manifestation of God's grace, through whom also the abilities to reveal such secrets is given to us. Daniel 2:47 "…'Truly your God is the God of gods, the Lord of kings, and a revealer of secrets, since you could reveal this secret.'" As a believer, you have rights or as the Word calls them ‘benefits’. Let us go over all those benefits so you know what your rights 'benefits' are with God. Forgiveness – You have the right to be forgiven. Romans 10:9-10 NKJV 9 that if you confess with your mouth the Lord Jesus and believe in your heart that God has raised Him from the dead, you will be saved. 10 For with the heart one believes unto righteousness, and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation. Water Baptism – You have the right to be baptized. John 3:5 NKJV 5 Jesus answered, “Most assuredly, I say to you, unless one is born of water and the Spirit, he cannot enter the kingdom of God. Water baptism takes you into the ministry and changes you as a person forever. Once you call on Jesus to save you and then are baptized, you are a new creature. And that creature has the right to propagate. 2 Corinthians 5:17 NKJV 17 Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation; old things have passed away; behold, all things have become new. Mark 16:15 NKJV 15 And He said to them, “Go into all the world and preach the gospel to every creature. Faith – You have the right to have Faith. Hebrews 11:1 NKJV 11 Now faith is the [a]substance of things hoped for, the [b]evidence of things not seen. Faith is what moves God. Healing – You have the right to be healed. 1 Peter 2:24 NKJV 24 who Himself bore our sins in His own body on the tree, that we, having died to sins, might live for righteousness—by whose [a]stripes you were healed. God wants to and loves to heal. Healing comes by faith and the above point shows you have the right to have faith. Jesus did all the work and God is just looking for faith the size of a mustard seed. Matthew 17:20 NKJV 20 So Jesus said to them, “Because of your [a]unbelief; for assuredly, I say to you, if you have faith as a mustard seed, you will say to this mountain, ‘Move from here to there,’ and it will move; and nothing will be impossible for you. But he who fears has not been made perfect in love. No Death: You have the right to live forever. 1 Corinthians 15:55 NKJV 55 “O[a] Death, where is your sting? Hades, where is your victory?” John 11:40-43 NKJV 40 Jesus said to her, “Did I not say to you that if you would believe you would see the glory of God?” 41 Then they took away the stone [a]from the place where the dead man was lying. Fruits of the Holy Spirit – You have the right to product fruit within you that is of God. Galatians 5:22-23 NKJV 22 But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, longsuffering, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, 23 [a]gentleness, self-control. Against such there is no law. And I could go on. The benefits from the Lord outweighs everything we face. Don’t you know that Satan is a puppet of God and must do what God tells him? Job 1:12 NKJV 12 And the Lord said to Satan, “Behold, all that he has is in your [a]power; only do not lay a hand on his person.” So Satan went out from the presence of the Lord. That means there is no God vs Satan. It’s just God and He’s in control. The above rights are just the tip of the iceberg – the surface of the much more He has for you. Praise ye the Lord.” Father God, I bless the United States of America with open ears, eyes, hearts, and minds to see, hear, receive, and believe the living Word of God because you state in Mark 4:12 KJV “12 That seeing they may see, and not perceive; and hearing they may hear, and not understand; lest at any time they should be converted, and their sins should be forgiven them.” I pray in hope that they see and perceive, hear and understand so they would believe in Jesus the Son of the living God! And Heavenly Father, I bless the United States of America with softened hearts to be able to perceive and live by Your Word because even you showed the disciples how hard their hearts were when they didn’t believe when You rose from the dead: Mark 16:14 KJV “14 Afterward he appeared unto the eleven as they sat at meat, and upbraided them with their unbelief and hardness of heart, because they believed not them which had seen him after he was risen.” I also bless the United States of America with a spirit of reconciliation because that is the ministry You have given us. Let the spirit of God move forth in the hearts of the people of the United States of America to forgive and reconcile the nation back to Jesus, the Son of God as Paul states in 2 Corinthians 5:18-19 KJV “18 And all things are of God, who hath reconciled us to himself by Jesus Christ, and hath given to us the ministry of reconciliation; 19 To wit, that God was in Christ, reconciling the world unto himself, not imputing their trespasses unto them; and hath committed unto us the word of reconciliation.” I pray that the United States of America is restored into the joy of salvation, and to the paths of righteousness as the following scriptures state: Psalm 23:3 KJV “He restoreth my soul: he leadeth me in the paths of righteousness for his name's sake.” Psalm 51:12 KJV “Restore unto me the joy of thy salvation; and uphold me with thy free spirit.” I pray that the fruit of the spirit stated in Galatians 5:22-23 KJV “22 But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, longsuffering, gentleness, goodness, faith, 23 Meekness, temperance: against such there is no law” manifests within the hearts of the people in the United States of America. I pray that the gifts of the holy spirit stated in 1 Corinthians 12:7-12 KJV “7 But the manifestation of the Spirit is given to every man to profit withal. 8 For to one is given by the Spirit the word of wisdom; to another the word of knowledge by the same Spirit; 9 To another faith by the same Spirit; to another the gifts of healing by the same Spirit; 10 To another the working of miracles; to another prophecy; to another discerning of spirits; to another divers kinds of tongues; to another the interpretation of tongues: 11 But all these worketh that one and the selfsame Spirit, dividing to every man severally as he will. 12 For as the body is one, and hath many members, and all the members of that one body, being many, are one body: so also is Christ”: would unite the body of Christ under one leadership, the Holy Spirit and that the Spirit of God moves through each of us so that we know what to pray, how to pray, when to pray, and praise the living God in all that we do. And gracious Heavenly Father, we praise You as Psalm 150:1-6 KJV says “150 Praise ye the Lord. Praise God in his sanctuary: praise him in the firmament of his power. 2 Praise him for his mighty acts: praise him according to his excellent greatness. 3 Praise him with the sound of the trumpet: praise him with the psaltery and harp. 4 Praise him with the timbrel and dance: praise him with stringed instruments and organs. 5 Praise him upon the loud cymbals: praise him upon the high sounding cymbals. 6 Let every thing that hath breath praise the Lord. Praise ye the Lord.” You are praised because You are. We now walk forward in peace knowing that You and Your angels are moving behind the scenes doing what You need to do to accomplish Your will as Psalm 103:20 KJV says “20 Bless the Lord, ye his angels, that excel in strength, that do his commandments, hearkening unto the voice of his word.” In the Name of Jesus, the Son of the living God we pray in unity, Amen!
