< Back SPIRITUAL ORDER Pastor Marcos Marrero Objective: The objective of Spiritual Order is to provide believers with a biblical understanding of how God’s divine order operates in both personal and corporate life. Pastor Marcos Marrero teaches that following spiritual order is essential for aligning with God’s plan, maintaining His power flowing in our lives, and preventing disorder that leads to frustration, lack, and missed purpose. The teaching equips Christians to recognize, embrace, and walk in God’s ordained structure for the individual, family, and church. Synopsis: In Spiritual Order, Pastor Marcos emphasizes that many Christians suffer needlessly because they lack knowledge of how God’s spiritual order functions. Using passages such as 2 Thessalonians 3:7 and 1 Corinthians 14:40, he explains that God commands His people to walk in order, as spiritual disorder hinders His divine plan. Pastor Marcos compares the orderly flow of God’s Word to electricity moving through a circuit: it produces power only when the proper pathway is maintained. The teaching identifies three foundational rules: Follow the directions of God’s Word, which provides the map for fulfilling one’s purpose. Believe in God’s divine purpose for your life, acknowledging that each believer was created intentionally for His plan. Submit to the flow of spiritual authority, which begins with God, flows through Christ, and extends to the family and church, all rooted in the Word. Pastor Marcos highlights that spiritual order is not merely individual but also corporate, shaping family structure and the church body. He clarifies that true headship is not about natural dominance but about reflecting Christ’s relationship with His bride, the Church. Disorder arises when people reject God’s Word, neglect their responsibilities, or misunderstand spiritual authority. Through scriptural illustrations such as Isaiah 55:10–11 and Ephesians 3:14–15, Pastor Marcos shows that God’s Word flows like heavenly energy, empowering those who believe and obey. Spiritual order establishes believers in peace, sanctification, and strength, while disorder results in chaos and loss. Ultimately, Spiritual Order calls Christians to repentance, alignment, and perseverance, reminding them that God’s peace and purpose are secured only when life is lived according to His divine order. Written teaching: 2 Thessalonians 3:7 “For you yourselves know how you ought to follow us, for we were not disorderly among you.” The reality is that today many Christians do not really understand spiritual order, and because of their lack of knowledge in this subject they needlessly suffer lack. The kingdom of heaven is a spiritual kingdom, and those of us who are born of the Spirit of God have been called to navigate within the spiritual order that governs His heavenly kingdom. As anyone who has traveled to an unknown destination knows, if you do not have a good set of directions and a reliable map, and a common understanding of how to read and follow a set of directions, chances are that you will get lost and suffer the loss of time and resources. It is the same as we travel in our spiritual journey, we are traveling to an unknown destination, unknown to us that is, for God knows where He is taking us, but if we do not understand the spiritual order that governs our journey we will not be much help to God in Him getting us there on time. That is why we are commanded that in all things we must follow the path of the spiritual order that God has foreordained. 1 Corinthians 14:40 “Let all things be done decently and in order.” In our opening text Paul tells the Thessalonians that they know how they ought to follow them, because of the order with which he taught them. 2 Thessalonians 3:6 “But we command you, brethren, in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ, that you withdraw from every brother who walks disorderly and not according to the tradition which he received from us.” Notice how Paul said, we command you in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ, this was not a request, this is how vitally important this matter is, for spiritual disorder will frustrate the plan of God for our lives. The flow of the authority of the Word of God, like electricity traveling through an electrical circuit, follows a clearly defined path that works perfectly as long as the orderly flow is maintained, any deviation causes the flow to trip the switch that immediately shuts off the power. Let me see if I can, with the help of the Holy Spirit, lay out some of the basic rules that govern this spiritual flow so that we can learn how to maintain spiritual order in our lives, and thereby not hinder the plan and purpose that God has ordained for us to fulfill. Isaiah 55:10-11 “For as the rain comes down, and the snow from heaven, and do not return there, but water the earth, and make it bring forth and bud, that it may give seed to the sower and bread to the eater, so shall My word be that goes forth from My mouth; it shall not return to Me void, but it shall accomplish what I please, and it shall prosper in the thing for which I sent it.” God uses the illustration of how the rain and the snow that melts and waters the earth and accomplishes the purpose for which He sends it, to reveal how the spiritual power of His Word functions. He sends out His Word as a flow of energy and those who partake, that is, come in agreement with His Word and live their lives accordingly, will fulfill the purpose for which they were created through the power that the energy of the Word of God provides them with. So that the number one rule is: Follow the directions that the Word of God provides, that is, if you want to fulfill the purpose for which He created you. Philippians 4:13 “I can do all things through Christ (the flowing power of the anointed One) who strengthens me.” So that if I believe that my life is not an accident, but that God purposed me to be born and assigned to me His good plan and purpose for me to fulfill through the power that He provides, then that leads me to: Rule number two: I have to believe that God has a divine purpose for my life, and that I am not just here to mow the grass and tend the garden. 2 Thessalonians 2:13 “But we are bound to give thanks to God always for you, brethren beloved by the Lord, because God from the beginning chose you for salvation through sanctification by the Spirit and belief in the truth.” It is belief in this truth that brings spiritual order into our personal lives. That is we connect with the energy that flows from heaven above, the Word of God, and it is that energy that empowers us to change course, to turn away from the vanities of this life that perishes, and to aim for the goal of faith which is eternal life with Jesus, to be with Him we must be like Him, and that is what sanctification does, it prepares us for eternity. Spiritual order also functions corporally, as in within the family unit and within the church. So that we also need to understand the path that spiritual order follows corporally so that we can function properly within the family unit and within the church, which is our spiritual family. 1 Corinthians 11:3 “But I want you to know that the head of every man is Christ, the head of woman is man, and the head of Christ is God.” The above verse can be controversial to those who do not understand the flow of spiritual order. But we need to know that God has set the institution of holy matrimony as the foundation of the family unit, and as a type for the relationship between Jesus and His church. So that if I come with the mindset of natural understanding and say, I am a man therefore I am the head of the woman, I immediately negate the spiritual fact that in Christ, I, as a man, am the bride of Christ also. So that within the natural process, spiritual authority or order, flows from God to Christ, from Christ to man, from man to woman, from woman to children, but from the spiritual perspective all authority and order flows out of the unchanging and uncompromising Word of God, to which all things owe their allegiance to, be it physical or spiritual. So that those who deviate from the natural order, that is, refrain from following in the tenants prescribed by the Word of God, fall into disorder, just as much as those who though in the proper natural position deviate from their responsibilities to the Word of God, and to their own peril fall into disorder themselves. Ephesians 3:14-15 “For this reason I bow my knees to the Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, from whom the whole family in heaven (spiritual order) and earth (physical order) is named.” Paul writes that He is fully committed to the principle of spiritual order by bowing his knees to the Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, do you see the progression? But then he adds, to whom the whole family, natural and spiritual belong. We see in the natural how this principle works, when the family unit breaks down everything is prone to disorder, but we also witness that when the family unit, though intact, rejects or ignores the principles in the Word of God, that disorder rules there as well. So that the key is in our understanding how the principle of spiritual order works and all that is at stake, for the results will be either order or disorder. So that our third rule is made obvious by the fact that in spiritual order, God, His Word, and the Holy Spirit are the only One’s who are perfect, and who perfectly agree, and all that follows within that spiritual order must comply fully to the tenants of the Word of God, and if not, their position is nullified immediately and ceded to the next in line that believes and applies the Word of God. 2 Thessalonians 2:15 “Therefore, brethren, stand fast and hold the traditions which you were taught, whether by word or our epistle.” How do I know if my house is in the proper spiritual order? 2 Thessalonians 2:16-17 “Now may our Lord Jesus Christ Himself, and our God and Father, who has loved us and given us everlasting consolation and good hope by grace, comfort your hearts and establish you in every good word and work.” Notice how the order is reversed, Jesus and then the Father, that means that the Lord wants us to look upward to see if we are conforming with God’s plan for us, the plan that was made available to us by our Lord Jesus Christ and the good hope and grace that comforts our hearts, for that is what establishes us to do His good word and works. If there is enmity in your heart against His Word for you or the work that He has called you to do, chances are that you are out of His spiritual order and lack the power to fulfill His calling for your life. Isaiah 30:15 “For thus says the Lord God, the Holy One of Israel: ‘In returning (repentance) and rest (in His promises) you shall be saved (delivered); in quietness and confidence shall be your strength.’ But you would not.” Would you? It is better to be hot or cold than to be indifferent, if indifference is not what you are dealing with right now, weigh the cost of your salvation, figure out the benefits of spiritual order in your life against the cost of disorder and chaos, which is more profitable to you now? Which is more profitable to you in the age to come? The Bible is full of characters that sold their future inheritance for a morsel of bread, and every single one of them live and died to regret it. I hope that is not you my friend, for I feel as I am writing this, that your weariness is weighing you down somehow. 2 Thessalonians 3:13 “But as for you, brethren, do not grow weary in doing good.” Do the right thing! 2 Thessalonians 3:16 “Now may the Lord of peace Himself give you peace always in every way. The Lord be with you all.” Previous Next
- MATURITY VS. INFANCY | House of Faith Ministries (HoFM)
< Back MATURITY VS. INFANCY Pastor Marcos Marrero Objective: The objective of Maturity vs. Infancy is to teach believers the importance of spiritual growth and the dangers of remaining in spiritual immaturity. Pastor Marcos highlights how deliverance, discipleship, and the pursuit of deeper truth move Christians from carnal, childlike dependence into mature faith, equipping them to fulfill the Great Commission and live as fruitful servants of Christ. Synopsis: In Maturity vs. Infancy, Pastor Marcos Marrero draws from 1 Corinthians 3:1–4 to illustrate the Apostle Paul’s concern that the Corinthian church remained spiritually immature—like infants unable to handle solid food. He explains that while natural children inevitably grow into adulthood, many believers remain in a state of spiritual infancy, content with “milk” rather than maturing into solid understanding of God’s Word. The lesson emphasizes that deliverance is a key tool for maturity, for deliverance liberates the believer’s mind from childish and carnal thinking. True growth is hindered when churches operate selfishly—seeking to hold on to their converts instead of raising them up as disciples who go out to make more disciples, as Christ commanded in Matthew 28:19. Pastor Marcos warns that immaturity in the church often manifests in envy, strife, and division, shifting the focus away from God’s mission. Churches that feed believers only “milk” and create dependence on leadership keep members spiritually stunted, rather than equipping them to serve beyond the walls of the church. Drawing from Hebrews 5 and 6, Marrero stresses the call to leave elementary principles behind and press on toward maturity—developing discernment through practice, learning to reason with God, and embracing the security of salvation. He dismantles the fear of losing salvation, affirming that salvation is a heavenly gift, irrevocable and secured in Christ. Finally, Pastor Marcos challenges believers to move past fear, dependence, and immaturity, and to embrace their calling as mature workers in the Lord’s field, bearing fruit, making disciples, and walking in the authority of Jesus Christ. Written teaching: 1 Corinthians 3:1 “And I, brethren, could not speak to you as to spiritual people but as to carnal, as to babes in Christ.” The difference between a mature person and a childish person can be ascertained by their ability to engage in substantive communication. Paul made the statement to the Corinthian church that he was unable to communicate with them due to their lack of understanding spiritually mature subjects, he simply said to them, trying to talk with you about spiritual issues is like speaking to little children about things that they are unable to comprehend. In the natural all children grow up, that is, eventually they all mature into an adult understanding of the realities of everyday life. However, not all baby Christians mature into an adult understanding of spiritual life, and that is sad. Imagine living your entire adult life with a child’s mindset. The ministry of deliverance is a great tool that the Lord uses to bring baby or carnal Christians into spiritual maturity, for the word deliverance also means liberation, and a person matures as his/her mind is liberated from childish thinking, or foolish thinking, that unfortunately keep many Christians from ever coming into the maturity of the faith. 1 Corinthians 3:2 “I fed you with milk and not with solid food; for until now you were not able to receive it, and even now you are still not able.” What is it that keeps so many Christians from growing up spiritually? There are several elements to this problem, the first and the most basic one in my opinion, is the tendency of the church to hold on to its converts, instead of seeing them as seed that they are to scatter abroad. If we look at the church from a business model perspective, the first question that we must ask is this: what is the product that the church was created to produce? Matthew 28:19 “Go therefore and make disciples of all the nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit.” The goal of the church is to duplicate itself wherever it goes, that means that those who are converted are to be raised up in the expectation that they themselves will grow up to become servants of the call of Jesus for all to go and to make disciples. In the business model some have to stay in the churches that are planted, to mind the store if you will, but always with the expectation that they might be called to convert others and to make disciples out of them, even outside of the realm of influence of their local church. Like in their workplace, or family members that are not part of their local community. The ideal church is one that is raising up mature believers that hear the voice of the Holy Spirit, and since the end goal is the same for those who stay as for those who are called to leave, there is no acrimony, for their aim is to go and to make disciples, here or there, or everywhere, it matters not, as long as our goal remains the same; to fulfill the call of Jesus to go and to make disciples of every nation. 1 Corinthians 3:3 “For you are still carnal. For where there are envy, strife, and divisions among you, are you not carnal and behaving like mere men?” Envy is always the result of selfishness, and it always brings with it strife and division. The devastating result of selfishness within the church is that it changes the goal for which Jesus established the church. 1 Corinthians 3:4 “For when one says, ‘I am of Paul,’ and another, ‘I am of Apollos,’ are you not carnal?” Once the goal is changed, the product changes as well. If the farmer decides that he is going to keep and eat most of the corn that he harvested, and greatly reduces the amount of seed that he is suppose to scattered abroad, not only the quality of the product is vastly reduced, but the amount that he produces suffers greatly as well. How does that principle of selfishness applies to the church today? Hebrews 5:13 “For everyone who partakes only of milk is unskilled in the word of righteousness, for he is a babe.” Imagine going to a church where they do not want you to ever leave. How many sermons on maturing spiritually so that you can go out and make disciples are you going to hear? Not many, I venture to say, for it would contradict their goal of keeping you there. How many sermons on how your spiritual walk is so totally dependent on them and what they offer you will you hear, that you wouldn’t dare think of ever leaving them? You see, if they want to keep you they have to create a need of them in your life. Hebrews 5:12 “For though by this time you ought to be teachers, you need someone to teach you again the first principles of the oracles of God; and you have come to need milk and not solid food.” If I can paraphrase You have come to need milk, You are a babe and you are hooked and in need of milk not solid food. Can you see the deviation from the original call? As long as you stay with their milk you will never mature and move on to your higher calling, and that is their aim if they are acting selfishly, for in their mind is the thought of why would we make faithful disciples to go out and plow in somebody else’s field? There is just one field for those of us who believe, the Lord’s field, and it does not matter who on this earth seems to get the credit as long as the great commission is proclaimed to the entire world, as we believers come into the maturity of the faith as one body, under one Lord, Jesus Christ! If I am one of those infants who is hooked to their baby formula, how do I get out of it? Hebrews 6:1-2 “Therefore, leaving the discussion of the elementary principles of Christ, let us go on to perfection (maturity), not laying again the foundation of repentance from dead works and of faith toward God, of the doctrines of baptism, of laying on hands, of resurrection of the dead, and of eternal judgment.” Everything enumerated in the verses above are doctrinal foundations of Christianity, that is why on verse three he states that: And this we will do if God permits, in other words, that is the message that we are to proclaim to the new converts. But those of you who have already learned the foundational principles need to move on, he said leave that discussion, and move up. If every time you go to church you find that you have to repent all over again every time that you hear a call to repentance, something is wrong, chances are you are hooked to babe’s milk and in need of somebody to lay hands on you and feed you some more formula, or change your spiritual diaper. How do I move up? Hebrews 5:14 “But solid food belongs to those who are full of age (mature), that is, those who by reason of use (practice) have their senses exercised to discern both good and evil.” There is an Old Testament Scripture where God compels those to whom He is speaking to come up higher and to reason together with Him. Isaiah 1:18 “Come now, and let us reason together, says the Lord, though your sins are like scarlet, they shall be as white as snow; though they are red like crimson, they shall be as wool.” Why don’t we do that right now. Think back to when you were first saved, did God know every sin that you had ever committed and still saved you? He not only knew every sin that we had ever committed and forgave us when we first got saved, but even all those sins that we did not even know we had committed or remembered, He forgave them all as well. As you probably know, God is all knowing; so on that basis let me ask you again, did not God know all your future sins as well and still forgave you when you first got saved? He forgave us of all of our future sins when we first got saved through a mechanism He put in place where we could in the future bring to Him those sins that were yet to be committed by us? 1 John 2:1 “My little children, these things I write to you, so that you may not sin. And if anyone sins, we have an Advocate with the Father, Jesus Christ the righteous.” So that as Christians when we sin, we do not lose our salvation, we do not have to get saved all over again, we simply confess and acknowledge our sins before Him and He is faithful and just not only to forgive us of the sins that we have perpetrated since our salvation, but He also cleanses us from all unrighteousness. Knowledge and an understanding of this fact will mature you faster than anything that I know, for knowingly or unknowingly those whose aim is to keep you hooked to their baby bottle will always go after the inconsistencies of the flesh in their sermons, to get you back to the basic principles of salvation all over again, to where you will never leave them even if you knew that the Lord had called you, for you would feel so inadequate in your infant mentality. Hebrews 6:4-6 “For it is impossible for those who were once enlightened, and have tasted the heavenly gift, and have become partakers of the Holy Spirit, and have tasted the good word of God and the powers of the age to come, if they fall away, to renew them again to repentance, since they crucify again for themselves the Son of God, and put Him to an open shame.” After the Lord calls us to leave the elementary things behind, things that can be perverted and used by the enemy to stunt our growth, He places the above and very important Scripture to illuminate us into the revelation of the eternity of our salvation that He calls the heavenly gift. Although the above Scripture can be difficult to understand, especially for baby Christians, if you want to grow into maturity you will have to deal with it, that is why the Lord put it there right in the midst of the discussion about immaturity, for it deals with the subject of whether a true believer can lose his/her salvation. Listen carefully, if a born-again believer could lose his/her salvation, that is, if it were possible for a true believer to fall away, then Jesus our Advocate before the Father would be the one that loses the case, and that is contrary to Scripture. John 17:12 “While I was with them in the world, I kept them in Your name. Those whom You gave Me I have kept; and none of them is lost except the son of perdition, that the Scripture might be fulfilled.” One cannot be born again unless he/she is a partaker of the Holy Spirit, and it is during salvation that we first taste of the heavenly gift, it might be milk, but is heavenly milk, the sincere milk of the Word of God, so that we are babes at first, but still babes in Christ the unmovable rock of our salvation. Although we are called to maturity, our salvation does not depend on our maturity for it is a heavenly gift from God. Romans 11:29 “For the gifts and the calling of God are irrevocable.” It is fear that keeps many from maturing in the faith, but God’s perfect love casts out all fear. Fear of losing the gift of our salvation has been used against many to keep them bound, and it is still used today to keep many from leaving the herd and fulfilling their call. God did not call us to sit on our blessed assurance, but to become fruitful workers in the kingdom of God, do not let any human control you or your actions, Jesus is the head of the church, and He speaks to us His children daily, all we have to do is to read His Word with a sincere heart and meditate on the truths that the Holy Spirit reveals to us in His Word. - SPIRITUAL PRINCIPLES | House of Faith Ministries (HoFM)
< Back SPIRITUAL PRINCIPLES Pastor Marcos Marrero Objective: The objective of Spiritual Principles is to provide believers with a deeper understanding of God’s spiritual laws and how they govern the unseen spiritual realm with the same certainty that physical laws govern the natural universe. Pastor Marcos seeks to help Christians grasp the unchanging and perfect nature of spiritual principles, showing how obedience to them leads to transformation, humility, and grace, while disobedience results in spiritual downfall. Synopsis: In Spiritual Principles, Pastor Marcos Marrero explores Psalm 19:7 as the foundation for understanding how God’s law is perfect, converting the soul and enlightening the heart. He draws parallels between the physical laws of nature, such as gravity and aerodynamics, and their spiritual counterparts, like pride leading to a fall and grace lifting the humble. Through these comparisons, he shows that while physical laws may sometimes be defied or mitigated, spiritual laws are flawless and unchanging, always producing their intended results. The lesson highlights how Jesus’ teachings consistently revolved around spiritual principles, often illustrated through parables, and how His disciples, though untrained in worldly education, demonstrated profound wisdom through their understanding of these truths. Pastor Marcos explains that spiritual principles warn us, correct us, and reward us when followed with humility, but bring destruction when violated through pride or presumption. Grace is presented as the higher spiritual law that sets humanity free from the weight of sin, much like aerodynamics overcomes the pull of gravity. The text emphasizes that God’s statutes are more valuable than gold and sweeter than honey, converting the soul and shaping a life of righteousness. Ultimately, walking in humility and reverence for God allows believers to live under the covering of grace, avoiding presumptuous sins, and keeping their words and hearts aligned with God’s will. The teaching concludes with the prayer of Psalm 19:14—an exhortation to let both word and meditation be acceptable before the Lord, who is our strength and Redeemer. Written teaching: Psalm 19:7 “The law of the Lord is perfect, converting the soul; the testimony of the Lord is sure, making wise the simple.” God is using His creation of the entire universe, verses one through six, the six days of creation, as a backdrop to His statement on verse seven, The law of the Lord is perfect as He reveals to us the perfection of His spiritual principles, so that we can have an understanding of how His spiritual laws work, as we compare them to the physical laws of nature that we understand. Spiritual principles are the spiritual laws that govern the invisible spiritual universe; and the physical laws or principles, govern the visible physical universe. Our understanding of them engenders us with the ability to be transformed in our thinking, they, the spiritual laws, have the power to convert our soul, our spiritual make up, and to make our simple ways of understanding nature into a powerful tool that helps us to understand the invisible qualities of God Himself. Acts 4:13 “Now when they saw the boldness of Peter and John, and perceived that they were uneducated and untrained men, they marveled. And they realized that they had been with Jesus.” Everything that Jesus taught revolved around spiritual principles, and He often used parables, simple physical imagery, to portrait how spiritual laws worked. We can see from the verse in the book of Acts the powerful influence that Jesus’ teaching had upon His disciples, they understood spiritual laws/principles, just as well or better than those men educated in matters of the practice and principles of the law itself. What is a spiritual principle and how can we compare it to a physical law of nature? Gravity is a physical law of nature, our discovery of it has helped humanity tremendously to understand how our physical universe works, and most of us have a basic understanding of it. The spiritual counterpart of gravity could be found in our next Scripture verse. Proverbs 16:18 “Pride goes before destruction, and a haughty spirit before a fall.” Here we see the connection between spirit and gravity, pride always precedes the fall, now that is a spiritual principle that has a tremendous effect upon our physical world, just like gravity, yet very few understand its workings, because most people do not understand that pride is a spirit. Proverbs 16:19 “Better to be of a humble spirit with the lowly, than to divide the spoil with the proud.” We naturally understand that if we jump of a cliff we are going to fall and hurt ourselves, but how many of us know that if we walk in pride we are certain to fall and hurt ourselves. See, you might be spared somehow if you jump off a cliff, because natural laws deviate, but not so with spiritual laws, for they are perfect. There are no trees to cushion your fall in the spiritual realm, your only protection is to reject the spirit of pride and humble yourselves before you fall. But you see, we would do that only if we really believe that pride and gravity have the same effect, they both will cause us to fall, the only difference is that in the physical realm the consequences are sometimes mitigated by other factors, but not so in the spiritual realm, because, once again, God’s spiritual laws are perfect, they never fail. Psalm 19:11-12 “Moreover by them (our understanding of God’s spiritual principles) Your servant is warned, and in keeping them (God’s spiritual principles) there is great reward. Who can understand his errors? Cleanse me from secret faults.” A humbled heart goes a long way into helping us to see ourselves from the proper perspective, and that is where the great reward is, for who can understand his errors, unless someone with a different perspective as theirs points them out to them, but if we walk in the spirit of pride we would never listen. And when we are willing to listen to wise counsel and deal with our known errors in a biblical way, them even our secret faults, God is more than willing to cleanse, because of another spiritual principle that walks hand in hand with those who walk with a humbled heart. Proverbs 3:34 “Surely He scorns the scornful, but gives grace to the humble.” To walk with a humbled spirit is to walk with God’s grace. How can a metal airplane that weighs tons, loaded with hundreds of passengers, with tanks full of fuel, and hundreds of pieces of luggage on board fly and defy gravity? Because of the law of aerodynamics; for thousands of years humans could not mechanically fly, until the law of aerodynamics was discovered, and now we can even fly into outer space. For thousands of years humans languished under the heaviness of sin, and could not rise above God’s perfect law that declared that the soul that sinned shall surely died and be confined, until the more perfect law of God’s grace was revealed on Calvary’s hill to release mankind from the burden of sin that kept us down. Not everybody flies, and not everybody is saved. Under the natural law not everybody might be able to fly due to physical limitations, but in the perfect spiritual realm of God’s grace, everybody can be saved no matter what their physical limitations might be, because God’s grace is perfectly adequate for all humans to avail themselves with. Right, pure, clean, true and righteous altogether, those are the qualities that the perfect law of God’s grace brings into the soul that understands God’s mercy and makes these qualities of grace its habitation. Psalm 19:8 “The statutes (spiritual principles) of the Lord are right, rejoicing the heart; the commandment of the Lord is pure, enlightening the eyes.” The understanding of right begins within the human heart having experienced the power of God’s grace, being humbled by the manifestation of God’s great mercy and forgiveness. Having the right perspective of our standing before God is a humbling experience that opens our eyes to the purity and perfection of Jesus’ sacrifice for us and what He accomplished for the entire human race. Psalm 19:9 “The fear of the Lord is clean, enduring forever; the judgments of the Lord are true and righteous altogether.” The fear of the Lord is having a clear understanding of how spiritual principles work, that they are more real than the physical laws of nature that we dare not violate because we naturally understand the consequences of such violations, that is what keeps us clean. When we understand the judgments or consequences for violating God’s spiritual principles, how true they are, we make every effort to avoid violating them, and that in essence is what makes us to walk in righteousness altogether. Psalm 19:10 “More to be desired are they than gold, yea, than much fine gold; sweeter also than honey and the honeycomb.” Here we see how the soul is converted by the testimony of the Lord; once we understand the reality of these spiritual laws, we naturally desire them more than any physical thing, more than gold and riches, even more than our necessary food as Job declared about God’s statues. Psalm 19:13 “Keep back Your servant also from presumptuous sins; let them not have dominion over me. Then I shall be blameless, and I shall be innocent of great transgression.” Assumptions and presumptions: In the natural or physical realm we tend to believe, based on assumptions, that friends will be true, that others can be trusted to work for our betterment, that life will be normal, and if we are young, that old age is something that happens to others, not us. To assume is not a great transgression because when friends betray you, and when others put their own self-interest ahead of yours, and when life treats you like a toilet, and wait until you start getting old, Ha! Ha! All that does is make you stronger if you understand spiritual principles and are living by them. But to presume, now that is a different type of sin, for those who presume on the grace of God, which is spiritual, fall under the dominion of the sin they ignored and presumed would not harm them. So that no matter what we think we know and understand about spiritual principles, it is always desirable to keep a humble heart and an open mind, lest we fall into the sin of presumption and forfeit the grace that sustains us. Psalm 19:14 “Let the words of my mouth and the meditation of my heart be acceptable in Your sight, O Lord, my strength and my Redeemer.” Now that is great advice, let’s take advantage of it and put it to good use. Amen! Previous Next
- FACTS AND ACTS | House of Faith Ministries (HoFM)
< Back FACTS AND ACTS Pastor Marcos Marrero Objective: The objective of this teaching is to help believers discern the difference between the responses of the soul and the spirit when faced with God’s promises, and to encourage them to align their faith and actions with the unchanging facts of God’s Word. By understanding this distinction, Christians can grow in faith, avoid the pitfalls of doubt, and respond to God’s promises with confidence and obedience. Synopsis: In Facts and Acts, Pastor Marcos Marrero explores the difference between the soul and the spirit in responding to God’s Word and promises, using Mary’s response to the angel’s announcement in Luke 1 as a model. Mary’s spirit rejoiced in the fact of God’s promise, while her soul magnified the Lord through acts of worship. This contrast highlights that the spirit receives and accepts divine truth as fact, while the soul acts and reacts based on those facts. Pastor Marcos contrasts Mary’s faith-filled acceptance with Zacharias’s doubt, showing how unbelief can hinder the fullness of God’s blessing, even though His purposes ultimately prevail. He stresses that faith in the unchanging Word of God enables believers to rejoice in spiritual facts, regardless of circumstances, while doubt causes the soul to be swayed by natural limitations. The lesson further emphasizes that God’s promises—redemption, salvation, and covenant mercy—are eternal facts. When believers magnify these truths in their souls and act upon them, they align themselves with God’s plan. However, rejecting or doubting these facts leaves one vulnerable to deception and spiritual loss. Pastor Marcos concludes by reminding believers that Jesus is the ultimate fact of salvation—His incarnation, death, resurrection, and promised return are the foundation of Christian faith. These truths demand a response: either to act in faith and obedience, or to ignore them and risk eternal separation from God. The Word of God is forever settled in heaven, and our acts, when rooted in these eternal facts, will never be forgotten. Written teaching: Luke 1:46-47 “And Mary said: ‘My soul magnifies the Lord, and my spirit has rejoiced in God my Savior.’” After receiving the great news that she was going to be the mother of the Son of the Highest, Mary sang a song of worship and adoration to God. Notice how her song begins with her soul and spirit responding to the great news of being chosen by God for this great honor. I want you to notice the difference between her soul and her spirit, and how different her soul and her spirit reacted to the same great news. I believe that we can get great insight here between their interactions. Notice how her soul responded, my soul magnifies, that is an act of her will. While her spirit stated a fact, my spirit has rejoiced in what I was told. So that by nature our souls act and react, while our spirits put the emphasis on the facts as they are revealed to us. Psalm 9:1-2 “I will praise You, O Lord, with my whole heart (spirit and soul); I will tell of all Your marvelous works (facts). I (David’s spirit speaking) will be glad and rejoice in You (a matter of fact); I will sing praise to Your name (David’s soul acting on the facts), O Most High.” It may seem a little difficult at first, but if we consciously try to discern the difference between the spirit and the soul speaking, we can learn a great deal more from the narrative that we are reading. We can do that while reading Scripture; we can also try to discern while we are communing with Jesus in prayer, if it is our spirit who is leading the conversation with Him, or if it is our soul that is doing the talking. The issue here is faith; if our soul’s nature is to respond or act to the facts that it receives, and since our spirits by nature deal with the basics of the facts that are revealed to them, being trained in the art of knowing the one from the other can make all the difference in a time of crises or during the times when the Lord gives to us great spiritual revelation. Luke 1:38 “Then Mary said, ‘Behold the maidservant of the Lord! Let it be to me according to your word.’ And the angel departed from her.” Notice how it was Mary’s spirit who responded to the angel, Let it be to me according to your word, the fact of what was promised to her. Luke 1:37 “For with God nothing will be impossible.” Mary spoke through her spirit the fact that she believed everything that she was told—and accepted it as fact—and as soon as she did that, the angel left, the matter was closed. Notice the difference between Mary’s response to the angel, and the response of Zacharias, the father to be of John the Baptist, when he was given the great news that he would be given a son who will turn many of the children of Israel to the Lord their God: Luke 1:18 “And Zacharias said to the angel, ‘How shall I know this? For I am an old man, and my wife is well advanced in years.’” Zacharias was reacting to the fact of his condition and the age of his wife, instead of reacting to the fact that an angel was giving him a promise from God Himself, the God who cannot lie. His soul naturally responded to the limiting facts that he was surrounded with in the physical realm. Had he been spiritually minded—focused in the promises contained in the Word of God, he would, like Mary, rejoice in the fact that a messenger from God was talking to him, and he would have consented immediately. Luke 1:19 “And the angel answered and said to him, I am Gabriel, who stands in the presence of God, and was sent to speak to you and bring you these glad tidings.’” God’s will was done anyway, for God’s plans cannot be thwarted by a man’s lack of faith, but Zacharias was unable to speak until he named his son John according to the command of the angel Gabriel. Luke 1:20 “But behold, you will be mute and not able to speak until the day these things take place, because you did not believe my words which will be fulfilled in their own time.” It makes me wonder how many times I missed on realizing a promise from God, because I let my soul respond through the prism of the circumstances that surrounded me at that time, instead of letting my spirit rejoice in the fact that the One who was giving me His promise can never lie, and always fulfills what He promises to those who believe Him. We can see the effects of this duality. If what God has promised us is a vital part of our Christian walk, we will receive it in their own time, but because of our lack of faith at the time that the promise was given, our abilities will be hindered until what was promised is realized. The other part is, that if what was promised was not a vital part of our Christian walk, we will forfeit it and will have to do without it, until we learn to trust and rejoice in the fact that a promise from the Word of God deserves to be magnified within our souls, based on the fact that He who promised is faithful, no matter what the circumstances around us dictate. Let us remember that as believers, we are all disciples, and as such, we are always learning how to truly follow Jesus. There is redemption, so we should not let what we failed to receive in the past, keep us from receiving what our Lord has for us in the now. Luke 1:68-69 “Blessed is the Lord God of Israel, for He has visited and redeemed His people, and has raised up a horn of salvation for us in the house of His servant David.” As soon as Zacharias named his son John, according to the word that the angel gave him, he was filled with the Holy Spirit and prophesied about God’s redemption and salvation, which are the facts and the acts of Christianity. Let us take a sober look today at the facts on which our faith is founded, for they will determine how our soul will act and react, when faced with the unrelenting accusations and distortions against the Word of God that those of us who put our trust in it and its promises have to face daily. Luke 1:70 “As He spoke by the mouth of His holy prophets, who have been since the world began.” Do you believe that Adam was created or that man evolved? God’s prophets have been since the world began, and they tell us not only that Adam was created, but how and why he was created, and how he was driven out from Paradise after the fall. If you’ve fallen for the perverting influence of the theory of evolution, you have lost the facts, and have lost the will to act spiritually. The only expectation that you are left with after denying the facts, is to react and be driven by the ever changing winds of conformity to this world’s system. If man evolved, then he is not a fallen creature; if he is not a fallen creature, then he does not need to be redeemed. If man does not need to be redeemed, then Jesus came and died for nothing. Don’t you see the demonic connections? It is all about separating you from the only One who can save you from all your sins. Jesus told us that His Words are Spirit and that they are Truth, based on the fact that He is the Word of God who came in the flesh. If at any time you deny the veracity of the Word of God, you also deny the deity of Jesus and the redemptive power of the blood of Jesus, for they are one and the same—these are the facts that act upon our souls, for either good or bad. Luke 1:72 “To perform the mercy promised to our fathers and to remember His holy covenant.” A covenant is a will, a promise to act on behalf of a fact—that fact being that after the fall of Adam, man was in dire need of God’s mercy, which God promised us that He would bring at His appointed time. Do you believe that Jesus is the Son of God? If you believe that Jesus was just a good man, the son of Joseph, and that there were no angels talking with Mary and the others, and that Mary did not miraculously conceive Him by the power of the Holy Spirit, then you are still in your sins and are lost, that is the devil’s goal for your life. Here is a fact—that once acknowledged—will require immediate action on the part of those who have been deceived by the devil. Luke 1:77 “To give knowledge of salvation to His people by the remission of their sins.” Jesus did not stay a baby in a manger, He did not come into this world so that we could have presents on Christmas day. He grew up into a man, condemned the world of sin, then paid the penalty for all our sins by dying on an old rugged cross. He rose from the dead on the third day, after showing Himself to many, He was taken up to heaven and is now seated at the right hand of God, making intercession for us, that we may come into the enlightening truth of the facts of who He really is and what He came to do. Luke 1:79 “To give light to those who sit in darkness and the shadow of death, to guide our feet into the way of peace.” Here is a fact that should cause all of us to act: Jesus is coming back soon, but this time He is coming to judge all those who failed to receive His free offer of salvation, and to deliver out of this world those of us who have believed in Him, and have trusted in His Word. Acts 1:11 “Who also said, ‘Men of Galilee, why do you stand gazing up into heaven? This same Jesus, who was taken up from you into heaven, will so come in like manner as you saw Him go into heaven.’” We have a clear choice, we can choose to act in response to the fact of the work of salvation that Jesus accomplished on our behalf, or we can ignore the facts and act to fulfill our fleeting selfish desires and be lost forever and ever. That sounds like a no brainer, but it all depends on where you get your facts from. Here is one last fact for this lesson: Psalm 119:89 “Forever, O Lord, Your word is settled in heaven.” The advantage of getting our facts from the Word of God, is that it never changes, and it shall never pass away. Every act of ours that is based in our love and desire for the Word of God to be the foundation for our lives, will never be forgotten either. My soul magnifies the Lord, while my spirit is rejoicing in the fact that He loves me, and that He has redeemed my life from the pit! Behold, He is coming quickly, and every eye shall see Him! - THE EFFECTIVE WORKING WORD | House of Faith Ministries (HoFM)
< Back THE EFFECTIVE WORKING WORD Pastor Marcos Marrero Objective: The objective of The Effective Working Word is to reveal how the Word of God powerfully and continually works in the life of every believer, bringing about complete deliverance—spirit, soul, and body. Through biblical teaching, the message aims to show that true freedom from sin is only possible by receiving the Word of God as divine truth, not as the word of men, and allowing it to transform us through salvation, sanctification, and belief in the truth. Synopsis: In this teaching, Pastor Marcos Marrero explores the depth of 1 Thessalonians 2:13, emphasizing that the Word of God is not merely human speech but the very power of God at work in believers. He explains that the Word brings about deliverance in three stages: immediate deliverance at the moment of salvation, continuous deliverance throughout life as our souls are transformed, and ultimate deliverance at the resurrection when our bodies are made new. Pastor Marcos details how our spirit is instantly regenerated when we are born again, never to be separated from God again. Yet, our soul remains in an ongoing battle between fleshly desires and the influence of the Spirit, requiring constant nourishment from the Word of God. This process—described as crucifying the flesh—is often painful but necessary for spiritual growth and holiness. The teaching also warns that believers will face opposition and persecution when the Word effectively works in them, as the world resists those who refuse to conform to its system. Still, this opposition confirms God’s transforming work. Pastor Marcos outlines a threefold approach—repentance, renouncement, and restoration—as the believer’s response to God’s Word, leading to sanctification and renewal of the soul. Ultimately, The Effective Working Word highlights that only by fully welcoming the Word of God as truth can believers experience real deliverance, holiness, and strength to withstand the hostility of the world. It is the Word that effectively works in those who believe, shaping them into the likeness of Christ until the day of full redemption. Written teaching: 1 Thessalonians 2:13 “For this reason we also thank God without ceasing, because when you received the word of God which you heard from us, you welcomed it not as the word of men, but as it is in truth, the word of God, which also effectively works in you who believe.” The Word of God has many functions, it created everything, sustains everything. But in a more personal level, the Word of God effectively works deliverance in those who believe in it. What is deliverance? Deliverance has to do with freedom. Since sin enslaves men, deliverance from sin is the act of being made free. John 8:32 “And you shall know the truth, and the truth shall make you free.” Since the Word of God is the embodiment of all Truth, those who believe in the truth of the Word of God are delivered from all their sins. Deliverance from sin follows three stages; we are immediately delivered, we are continuously being delivered, and we will be delivered. The reason the work of deliverance follows three stages is because we are being delivered completely, spirit, soul, and body. Let’s take a look at the spiritual aspect first. Our spirit can never die, for the spirit that gives us life originated from God, and like God it is eternal. In our mortal human nature we are considered dead in trespasses and sin, but death when referring to the spirit speaks of separation from God. When a person dies in their sins their spirit becomes separated from God for ever, that is what is called eternal damnation. When a person becomes born again, or born of the Spirit, their spirit is immediately regenerated and will never again be separated from God. Our spirit is delivered instantly the minute that we accept the Word of Truth. When we die, instantly our spirit would rise up to God because of His salvation. 2 Corinthians 5:8 “We are confident, yes, well pleased rather to be absent from the body and to be present with the Lord.” The only thing that our spirit needs after we become born again is to feed in the truth of the Word of God. For a weak spirit, one who is not being nourished by the Word of God, is not strong enough to influence our souls to turn its back on its sinful ways. We need to realize that our spirits are either dead, that is separated from God, or alive in Christ through the born-again experience, there is no in between for the spirit man within each person. Not so for our souls, for they are always going back and forth depending on which spirit is driving them. When our spirit is inspired by the Word of God it motivates us to do good works. When we neglect spiritual nourishment, our soul is moved by the sensuality of this world, through the spirits of the lust of the flesh, the lust of the eyes, and the pride of life, to do sinful things. That is why Paul is commending the Thessalonians for receiving the Word of God and is telling them this: Which also effectively works in you who believe. By using the words 'effectively works in you', Paul indicates that the deliverance of our souls is always a work in progress. Galatians 5:24-25 “And those who are Christ’s have crucified the flesh with its passions and desires. If we live in the Spirit, let us also walk in the Spirit.” If we are born again, we live in the Spirit of God who made our spirit alive in Christ. So, why not also walk after the Spirit of Truth that can also deliver our souls from the deadness of this world system? Our physical bodies will not be delivered until the day when the resurrection of the dead takes place. Even if we are born again, our bodies will continue to decline and decay with the passing of time, for the Word of God declares that: Hebrews 9:27 “And as it is appointed for men to die once, but after this the judgment.” So, that in our everyday lives, the ministry of deliverance is the process of working out of our souls its dependency to the desires of the flesh. That is why the crucifixion metaphor is used, those who are Christ’s have crucified the flesh with its passions and desires. Since crucifixion implies a slow painful death, that is what the separation from the desires of this world entails, a slow painful death. Matthew 26:38 “Then He said to them, ‘My soul is exceedingly sorrowful, even to death. Stay here and watch with Me.’” The hardest thing for us humans to accomplish is the death of self. Our self life is who we are and how we see ourselves. But when how we see ourselves and who we are does not align with the Word of God, there is no other choice, our soul has to die to self or lose its reward. The effective working Word of God is the only power that can bring about such transformation in us. This is what Paul told the Thessalonians, 'When you received the word of God which you heard from us, you welcomed it not as the word of men, but as it is in truth, the word of God'. We cannot die to our self-life until we realize that our lives are not our own, for they belong to God. Reason dictates that if we belong to God, our lives should be modeled after the Word of God. As we welcome the dictates of the Word of God for what our lives should be, that is we receive them as if directly from the mouth of God, that’s when the effectively works part sets everything in motion within us. 1 Thessalonians 2:14 “For you, brethren, became imitators of the churches of God which are in Judea in Christ Jesus. For you also suffered the same things from your own countrymen, just as they did from the Judeans.” Immediately the world around them began to persecute them, just as the churches that they had modeled themselves after were persecuted. The world will always persecute those who desire to fulfill the Word of God in their lives. Now why is that? Very simple, those whose desire is for the Word of God, which is Truth, cannot be lead stray by the deception of this world system. If you don’t move with the flow of the world you become an impediment to the flow of the world. John 15:18-19 “If the world hates you, you know that it hated Me before it hated you. If you were of the world, the world would love its own. Yet because you are not of the world, but I chose you out of the world, therefore the world hates you.” Hatred from the world means that the Word of God is effectively working in us the transformation that God wants to accomplish in us who believe. 2 Thessalonians 2:13 “But we are bound to give thanks to God always for you, brethren beloved by the Lord, because God from the beginning chose you for salvation (deliverance) through sanctification by the Spirit and belief in the truth.” Notice how the process begins with salvation, then sanctification by the Spirit, and all comes together by belief in the truth. Would you agree that the world is waging war against the Word of God? Here in the United States if a student takes his Bible into a public school building it would cause so much trauma to the local ACLU chapter that you would think that the end of the world had arrived. Just a lonely cross standing on a faraway hill causes enough distress to those who are under the influence of this world system, that they will not rest until they find a way to remove it. You cannot have such a disproportionate reaction to small things like those, unless it is because it offends the spirits of intolerance that are behind those who feel threaten by the presence of something that they know can deliver them from the power of those demonic influences. Think of it, that was us before we got saved, being moved by the desires of our flesh to lust after the things of this world, and to hate those who take a stand for the principles of life that are taught in the Word of God. And now as believers, are we going to tolerate those same demonic entities just so that we can be part of this world system? Of course not! But remember that deliverance from them requires us to fully commit our lives to the true teachings of the Word of God. Following with this threefold principle of salvation, sanctification and belief in the truth, we can take a threefold approach as well in our stance against these demonic entities. I call it repentance, renouncement and restoration. We repent before God for all of our sins, He forgives us and cleanses us from all of our sins. 1 John 1:9 “If we confess our sins, He is faithful and just to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness.” We renounce the world and the things which are in the world. 1 John 2:15 “Do not love the world or the things in the world. If anyone loves the world, the love of the Father is not in him.” Remember, we know that His Word is effectively working in us when the world hates us. And as we truly repent of our sins and renounce this world system, then the Lord takes it upon Himself to restore our souls to the divine setting that He originally created us to fulfill. 1 Thessalonians 3:13 “So that He may establish your hearts (souls– self-life) blameless in holiness before our God and Father at the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ with all His saints.” Previous Next
- CURSES | House of Faith Ministries (HoFM)
< Back CURSES Pastor Marcos Marrero Objective: To help believers understand the reality of curses, their causes, and their consequences, while also providing biblical teaching on how Christ’s redemption breaks the curse of the law and how believers can appropriate their deliverance through faith, obedience, and walking in the Spirit. Synopsis: In CURSES, Pastor Marcos explores the biblical reality of curses, emphasizing that they are not just symbolic but spiritual forces with real negative effects on people’s lives. Drawing from Galatians 3:13, he highlights how Christ has redeemed us from the curse of the law by becoming a curse for us, yet stresses the importance of appropriating that redemption in daily living. The lesson reviews the Old Testament foundation of blessings and curses, particularly in Deuteronomy 28–30, where God set before Israel the choice of life or death, blessing or curse. From a New Testament perspective, Pastor Marcos explains that those outside of Christ remain under the curse of the law, while those in Christ are legally redeemed. However, practically, some consequences of curses persist until believers apply biblical remedies such as repentance, faith, obedience, sacraments, and prayer. Referencing James 5 and Galatians 6, Pastor Marcos shows that healing and deliverance from curses often require confession, prayer, and living by the Spirit. He draws on Frank and Ida Mae Hammond’s teaching in The Breaking of Curses, outlining eight key principles: curses have causes, sin opens the door, curses are spiritual in nature, curses remain where sin remains, their power is demonic, the law offers no remedy, Christ redeemed us, and redemption must be appropriated. The lesson concludes that while curses still affect the world and even some believers, freedom is available through Christ. By walking in the Spirit, bearing spiritual fruit, and crucifying the works of the flesh, believers can live beyond the reach of curses, stepping fully into God’s blessing and protection. Written teaching: Galatians 3:13 “Christ has redeemed us from the curse of the law, having become a curse for us (for it is written, ‘Cursed is everyone who hangs on a tree’).” Glory to God for His redemptive power! In this lesson we will share with you a few points that all believers should know about curses and how they operate. Let us begin with the fact that curses are real, and that they have a real negative impact on those upon whom they land. Deuteronomy 28:20 “The Lord will send on you cursing, confusion, and rebuke in all that you set your hand to do, until you are destroyed and until you perish quickly, because of the wickedness of your doings in which you have forsaken Me.” The verse above is the summation of what Paul calls the curse of the law in his letter to the Galatians. Moses told the Israelites in Deuteronomy 28-30, that God was giving them a choice between blessings and cursing, and that by their decision to uphold or reject the promises that God was giving to them—either by their actions or by their neglect—that they would place themselves to receive the blessings or cursing as a result of what they chose to believe. Deuteronomy 30:19 “I call heaven and earth as witnesses today against you, that I have set before you life and death, blessing and cursing; therefore choose life, that both you and your descendants may live.” There is no in between when one belongs to God, and as it is written: The earth is the Lord...and all who dwell in it. Psalm 24:1 Matthew 12:30 “He who is not with Me is against Me, and he who does not gather with Me scatters abroad.” Let us ask this question from the New Testament perspective, Is the curse of the law active today against the human race? 1 Corinthians 16:22 “If anyone does not love the Lord Jesus Christ, let him be accursed (anathema). O Lord come!” Jesus Christ is the only One who has the power to redeem us from the curse of the law, so that all who are outside of Christ are still under the curse of the law. That is why Paul adds the phrase, O Lord come into those who do not yet know You so that they can be delivered from the curse of the law (interpretation mine). Paul knew that without Christ, who bore our curse on the cross—cursed is everyone who hangs on a tree—there can be no hope of redemption from all the curses stated in the law. From the New Testament perspective again we ask this question, Are all who receive Jesus Christ as their Savior and Lord automatically delivered from all the curses stated in the law? Legally, yes! Practically, no! How do we know? Galatians 6:7-8 “Do not be deceived, God is not mocked; for whatever a man sows, that he will also reap. For he who sows to his flesh will of the flesh reap corruption, but he who sows to the Spirit will of the Spirit reap everlasting life.” In practicality the nature of how the curses operate does not change, what changes is the legal rights of those who are still under the consequences of the curse of the law, but who have now been redeemed by Christ Jesus. Deliverance from the consequences of many of the curses has to be appropriated; we know some of the consequences are removed automatically when we get saved, while others are removed as we properly practice and partake of the sacraments, like water baptism and holy communion. Deuteronomy 28:60 “Moreover He will bring back on you all the diseases of Egypt, of which you were afraid, and they shall cling to you.” Sickness and diseases come as the result of the curse of the law, when we get saved, we do not automatically get healed, although legally, we are already healed as soon as Christ comes into our hearts. 1 Peter 2:24 “Who Himself bore our sins in His own body on the tree, that we, having died to sins, might live for righteousness—by whose striped you were healed.” In Christ—legally speaking—God does not consider us to be under the curse of the law any longer, but since God is not mocked, as long as we not having died to sins continue to live for unrighteousness, then the sickness and the diseases of the curse of the law shall cling continuously unless and until they are dealt with according to the Scriptures. James 5:14-16 “Is anyone among you sick? Let him call for the elders of the church, and let them pray over him, anointing him with oil in the name of the Lord. And the prayer of faith will save (deliver from the consequences of the curse) the sick, and the Lord will raise him up. And if he has committed sins, he will be forgiven. Confess your trespasses to one another, and pray for one another, that you may be healed. The effective, fervent prayer of a righteous man avails much.” Once in Christ, a way of escape from the consequences of the curse of the law is made available to the believer who wants to turn his/her life around so that they might live for righteousness sake. According to a book written by Frank and Ida Mae Hammond, who were considered to be pioneers in the deliverance ministry in the last century, there are eight basic laws that govern curses. For the benefit of those who are in Christ but still struggle with the consequences of the curse of the law, I will now list the eight principles that they believed and taught, govern all curses. 1) THERE IS A CAUSE FOR EVERY CURSE. Proverbs 26:2 “Like a flitting sparrow, like a flying swallow, so a curse without cause shall not alight.” 2) SIN IS THE GATEWAY FOR THE CURSE. Genesis 3:14 “Because you have done this, you are cursed…” 3) A CURSE IS A SPIRITUAL PROBLEM THAT CANNOT BE REMEDIED BY NATURAL MEANS. Galatians 6:7-8 “Do not be deceived, God is not mocked; for whatever a man sows, that he will also reap. For he who sows to his flesh will of the flesh reap corruption, but he who sows (seeks for a solution from the Holy Spirit) to the Spirit will of the Spirit reap everlasting life.” 4) WHERE SIN REMAINS THE CURSE REMAINS. 2 Chronicles 7:14 “If My people who are called by My name will humble themselves, and pray and seek My face, and turn form their wicked ways, then I will hear from heaven, and will forgive their sin and heal their land.” 5) THE POWER OF A CURSE IS DEMONIC. Genesis 4:7 “If you do well (do the right thing), will you not be accepted? And if you do not do well, sin (demons are the power behind the sinful act) lies at the door. And its desire is for you, but you should rule over it.” 6) THE LAW PROVIDED NO REMEDY FOR THE CURSE. Galatians 3:10 “For as many as are of the works of the law are under the curse; for it is written, ‘Cursed is everyone who does not continue in all things which are written in the book of the law, to do them.’” 7) CHRIST REDEEMED US FROM THE CURSE OF THE LAW. Galatians 3:10 “Christ has redeemed us from the curse of the law, having become a curse for us (for it is written, ‘Cursed is everyone who hangs on a tree’).” 8) THE REDEMPTION MUST BE APPROPRIATED. Genesis 22:16-18 “...By Myself I have sworn, says the Lord, because you have done this thing, and have not withheld your son, your only son—blessing I will bless you, and multiplying I will multiply your descendants as the stars of the heaven and as the sand which is on the seashore; and your descendants shall possess the gate of their enemies. In your seed all the nations of the earth shall be blessed, because you have obeyed My voice (and were willing to forfeit the most precious thing that you had in order to obtain the promise).” The eight points are quoted directly from the author, as well as many of the Scriptures he quoted to make his point, but the explanations in brackets which are not part of Scripture are mine. The name of the book is The Breaking of Curses, by Frank and Ida Mae Hammond. Published by Impact Christian Books. Inc. We conclude then that curses are still part of everyday life for all who do not love Jesus Christ, and that for many who believe in Him, curses are still a part that affects them negatively. What then, shall a believer do, who wants to be freed from the consequences of the curses that he/she brought upon themselves by their lawless deeds, or about the iniquity that they have inherited by the lawless deeds of their ancestors, which still affects them today? Galatians 5:16 “I say then: Walk in the Spirit, and you shall not fulfill the lust of the flesh.” How do we walk in the Spirit? Galatians 5:22-23 “But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, longsuffering, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, self-control. Against such there is no (curse of the) law.” To walk in the Spirit, one must walk in obedience to the law of Christ. Galatians 6:2 “Bear one another’s burdens, and so fulfill the law of Christ.” Works of the flesh are the mark of selfish ambitions, to which all of the curses are attached. All spiritual fruit leads to self-control which bear the mark of the flesh that has been crucified with all its passions and desires. Galatians 5:24 “And those who are Christ’s have crucified the flesh with its passions and desires.” Spiritual fruit cannot be cursed because it is blessed by God. Previous Next
- RELENT OR RESIST | House of Faith Ministries (HoFM)
< Back RELENT OR RESIST Pastor Marcos Marrero Objective: The objective of this teaching is to help believers discern whether to resist or endure adversity by aligning their decision-making with the Word of God. It aims to provide spiritual clarity on the difference between trials permitted by God for the testing of faith and attacks from the enemy, guiding Christians to walk in obedience to God’s will without allowing carnality or generational resistance to cloud their judgment. Synopsis: In Relent or Resist, Pastor Marcos Marrero addresses the vital question of how Christians should respond to adversity: should they endure it as a test from God or resist it as an attack from the enemy? Using Romans 9:19 and other Scriptures, he explains that resisting the Holy Spirit results in opposing God’s will, while discernment comes from a circumcised heart and ear—removing carnality and listening to God’s Word rather than focusing solely on the pain of trials. He highlights the generational struggle of resisting God, tracing it back to Adam and Eve’s fall, and contrasts that with the redemptive work of Christ, the Tree of Life, who restores access to God’s promises. Pastor Marcos teaches that true spiritual circumcision occurs when believers are fully persuaded they belong to Christ, holding fast to His promises even when discernment falters. Through biblical examples and practical application, the teaching stresses that trials and deliverance often work hand in hand. Adversities may arise from the corruption of fleshly choices or from persecution due to living faithfully in Christ. The key is honest self-examination: are hardships the result of losing spiritual “saltiness,” or are they a sign of faithful witness against a corrupt world? Ultimately, Pastor Marcos reminds believers that when their hearts are surrendered and their ears attuned to the Spirit, they will know whether to resist with the sword of the Spirit or relent and endure with steadfast faith. In both paths, God’s promises remain sure, and His purposes will be fulfilled in the lives of His children. Written teaching: Romans 9:19 “You will say to me then, ‘Why does He still find fault? For who has resisted His will?’” How do we know, when an adverse circumstance rises against us, if we are to resist it, or just accept it and endure it? Here is what I mean, if the adversity is a trial sent to us from God for the testing of our faith, we would not want to fail the test by resisting the adverse circumstance to the point where we renege our faith on His promise that if we endure trials faithfully, He will see us through them. But if it is an attack from the enemy, we want to come against it head on and defeat it, for we are told that if we submit to God and resist the devil that he will flee from us. Acts 7:51 “You stiff-necked and uncircumcised in heart and ears! You always resist the Holy Spirit; as your fathers did, so do you.” The Scripture in Acts gives us a tremendous insight into how vital it is for our wellbeing to be able to know when we are to resist adversity, and when we are to relent and endure them. Because if we are resisting the Holy Spirit we are fighting against the will of God for our lives, and that is not going to be good for anybody. Uncircumcised in heart and ears. Circumcision is a type for the removal of the flesh from the life-giving ordinances of God, in other words, we need to remove our carnality from the decision making process. That resolves the first part of the problem. An uncircumcised ear is one that focuses on the adversity alone, and by doing so, the heart, where the decision-making process takes place, is compromised, for it cannot make an informed decision since it is only receiving one side of the adversity, we are facing, which is the pain it causes, and not what the potential benefits, if any, might be. As your fathers did, so do you. The second part of the problem is generational; resisting the will of God for our lives is embedded within our human genes, courtesy of the fall of Adam and Eve from the Garden of Eden, the Paradise of God for us. Adam and Eve were kicked out of the Garden to prevent them from partaking of the fruit of the Tree of Life, for had they eaten from it in their rebelliously carnal state, they would have become like the fallen angels, unredeemable and eternally dammed forever. In God’s plan of redemption for humanity, Jesus who is the Tree of Life, hung naked on the cross to cover our nakedness with His holiness, and opened the door for us back into the Paradise of God where we can freely partake of the fruit of the Tree of Life, which is His Word/Promises. John 6:63 “It is the Spirit who gives life; the flesh profits nothing. The words that I speak to you are spirit, and they are life.” So that our decision-making process, concerning anything, has to be based on the Word of God instead of what the flesh is experiencing! How do we circumcise our hearts and ears? Romans 9:9 “For this is the word of promise…” We have to begin at the point of our salvation. Our salvation is the result of God’s promises to mankind. In Jesus, the Seed of the woman, all the promises of God given to us can be attained. For there is no other name under heaven whereby we must be saved and delivered. Acts 4:12 “Nor is there salvation in any other, for there is no other name under heaven given among men by which we must be saved.” Spiritually speaking, what I am trying to say is that if we are fully persuaded that we belong to Jesus Christ, and we know for a fact that His Holy Spirit is within us, and we are convinced that He has a plan and a purpose for our lives, and that His plan and purpose is the very best for us, then nothing else really matters does it? What I’m saying is that as long as we are fully committed to His good will and great and precious promises for us, the result can never be in doubt, even if our discernment fails us at times, for as it is written: Hebrews 10:23 “Let us hold fast the confession of our hope without wavering, for He who promised is faithful.” What that does for us is that it takes the pressure off from our decision-making process. Hey, I don’t want to suffer a minute longer than I have to in order to obtain God’s promises for my life, for I do not enjoy suffering. But I know that if I somehow miss a turn and have to go around the block one extra time or two, it is not going to stop God from getting me there, for this is what He promised me: Philippians 1:6 “Being confident of this very thing, that He who has begun a good work in you will complete it until the day of Jesus Christ.” True deliverance, or circumcision of the heart begins, when we finally cross a threshold in our hearts that says: I belong to God, and I am fully committed to His will for my life, therefore nothing is going to keep me from fulfilling His will and purpose for my life. When adversity comes our way, and our hearts are in tune with the words that Jesus speaks to us, which are spirit and truth—spiritual truth—we will know instantly if we are to resist the adversity with the sword of the spirit which is the Word of God, or if we are to relent and let the work of adversity work its way through, in the meanwhile we strengthen our faith while the persecution is crossing our path. John 16:33 “These things I have spoken to you, that in Me you may have peace. In the world you will have tribulation; but be of good cheer, I have overcome the world.” We need to remember that often times deliverance and tribulation go hand in hand. Now why is that? In the circumcision typology, the life-giving male semen gets corrupted as it comes in contact with the flesh, the foreskin, as it is spread abroad. The two-fold covenant of circumcision with Abraham was given as a type for those who were entrusted with the propagation of God’s Word, that they were to keep it from contamination. For the Jews who are the heirs of the physical promise—the Holy Land, the ritual was a physical act to be performed on every newborn Jewish boy on the eighth day. Paul infuses into the church the spiritual implication of the two-fold circumcision covenant that God made with Abraham. Colossians 2:10-13 “And you are complete in Him, who is the head of all principality and power. In Him you were also circumcised with the circumcision made without hands (spiritual circumcision), by putting off the body of the sins of the flesh, by the circumcision of Christ, buried with Him in baptism, in which you also were raised with Him through faith in the working of God, who raised Him from the dead. And you, being dead in your trespasses and the uncircumcision of your flesh, He has made alive together with Him, having forgiven you all trespasses.” What Paul is saying is that for those of us who are saved, being buried with Jesus in baptism at the moment of our spiritual rebirth, eight being the number that represents a new beginning, we were spiritually circumcised, as babes in Christ. We are His body here on earth, the church, and it falls upon us to broadcast or propagate His Life-giving Word to a world that is barren. But if that Life-giving Word is contaminated by the dead works of the flesh, it loses its power to raise those who are dead back to the spiritual life that was once promised to those who would believe. Matthew 5:13 “You are the salt of the earth; but if the salt loses its flavor, how shall it be seasoned? It is then good for nothing but to be thrown out and trampled underfoot by men.” So, going back to our opening do we relent or resist question; the adversities and tribulations we are suffering, are they caused by our losing our saltiness or is it because of our saltiness that we bear then? Your honest answer to that question will guide you into which path you need to take. If you are being trampled underfoot by men, then it is time for you to let go of the flesh that is contaminating the promises of God for your life, and keeping them from coming to full fruition in you. On the other hand, if you are being persecuted for taking a firm stand on the Word of God in this corrupt world, for salt is the antidote to corruption, then you should bear the tribulations gladly, for they are a sign of the effectiveness of your walk with Jesus Christ. 1 Peter 4:12-14 “Beloved, do not think it strange concerning the fiery trial which is to try you, as though some strange thing happened to you; but rejoice to the extent that you partake of Christ’s sufferings, that when His glory is revealed, you may also be glad with exceeding joy. If you are reproached for the name of Christ, blessed are you, for the Spirit of glory (your spiritual walk) and of God rests upon you. On their part He is blasphemed, but on your part He is glorified.” Previous Next
- THE ANOINTING THAT HEALS | House of Faith Ministries (HoFM)
< Back THE ANOINTING THAT HEALS Pastor Marcos Marrero Objective: The objective of this teaching is to help believers understand the power of the healing anointing, how it flows from God through the Holy Spirit, and why walking in the truth of God’s Word is essential for experiencing that power. It aims to equip Christians not only to recognize that they are already anointed through salvation, but also to walk in the fullness of God’s power that brings healing, deliverance, and transformation. Synopsis: In The Anointing That Heals, Pastor Marcos Marrero explores the scriptural foundation of God’s healing power as revealed through the anointing of Jesus Christ (Acts 10:38). He explains that while all believers are anointed with the Holy Spirit at salvation, not all walk in the power of that anointing because of a lack of enlightenment in the truth of God’s Word. The Spirit of Truth only bears witness to God’s Word and glorifies Christ, which means that to walk in the power of the anointing, believers must remain faithful and aligned with Scripture. Pastor Marcos emphasizes that without the Spirit of God we are helpless, without Jesus we are powerless, and without the Word of God we are directionless. He challenges believers to examine their relationship with God’s Word, since handling it deceitfully or with unbelief hinders the flow of the Spirit’s power. Liberty, transformation, and healing are promised where the Spirit of the Lord is present (2 Corinthians 3:17-18). The teaching also highlights that the healing anointing often follows a process of inner transformation. Even in moments of weakness, failure, or delay, God’s love and grace remain constant, and His power is revealed in faithfulness. Through personal testimony, Pastor Marcos shares how God’s anointing has shown up even in his failures, proving that the miracle is always the work of the Anointer, not the vessel. Ultimately, the lesson stresses that the believer’s role is to show up, pray, anoint, and declare God’s Word—leaving the results to Him. The bottom line of the healing anointing is rooted in God’s unchanging love and compassion. As Jesus declared, “all things are possible to him who believes” (Mark 9:23), reminding us that the anointing that heals flows from God’s truth, His Spirit, and His everlasting love for His people. Written teaching: Acts 10:38 “How God anointed Jesus of Nazareth with the Holy Spirit and with power, who went about doing good and healing all who were oppressed by the devil, for God was with Him.” When I started teaching about the anointing oil, it immediately became clear to me that more lessons would be required just to touch on the basic principles of God's anointing. In this lesson we will deal with the power of the healing anointing, or a different way to look at it, the anointing that heals! Now the very first thing that I want you to notice in our opening Scripture is how Jesus was anointed with the Holy Spirit and with power. This is very important, notice how it describes Jesus as having both, the anointing and the power that comes through the anointing. Now why is that important? Every believer that is saved in Jesus Christ has been anointed with the Holy Spirit. 1 Corinthians 12:13 “For by one Spirit we were all baptized (plunged) into one body—whether Jews or Greeks, whether slaves or free—and have all been made to drink (partake) into one Spirit (anointing).” So that all believers are anointed with the Holy Spirit. 2 Corinthians 1:21-22 “Now He who establishes us with you in Christ and has anointed us is God, who also has sealed us and given us the Spirit in our hearts as a guarantee.” But not all believers walk in the power of the anointing, now why is that? There are several issues here that we can point at, but at the foundation of everyone of these failures we will find that it is because they are all lacking in the enlightenment of what the truth of the Word of God is. John 16:13 “However, when He, the Spirit of truth, has come, He will guide you into all truth; for He will not speak on His own authority, but whatever He hears He will speak; and He will tell you things to come.” The Spirit of Truth will not bear witness to falsehoods, nor to things that do not glorify the Gospel of Jesus Christ. Just like Jesus did not come to do His own thing, but only to speak that which He heard from the Father above. Since the anointing comes from God then all things must revert to God and to His Word, for that is from Whom the anointing flows. John 14:10 “Do you not believe that I am in the Father, and the Father in Me? The words that I speak to you I do not speak on My own authority; but the Father who dwells in Me does the works.” So that we can see an extremely clear pattern of how the workings of the anointing flows. The Holy Spirit does not bear witness to Himself but of Jesus and the work that He accomplished. Jesus does not bear witness of Himself or the work that He accomplished, but He bears witness to the God from Whom all blessings flow. So that all who are anointed by the Spirit of God, if they want the power of the Spirit of God flowing through them, must remain faithful and true to the Word of Truth that governs the outpouring of the power of the Spirit of God in our midst. And that is without the Spirit of God we are helpless, and without the name of Jesus we are powerless, and without the guidance of the Word of God we are clueless and hopelessly lost. So let us begin with this point then, what is your relationship with the Word of God? Is the Word of God your only Truth? 2 Corinthians 4:2 “But we have renounced the hidden things of shame, not walking in craftiness nor handling the word of God deceitfully, but by manifestation of the truth commending ourselves to every man’s conscience in the sight of God.” Paul was dealing with how the minds of the Jews of his day were blinded every time they read the Word of God, so that the Truth of the Word that they were reading could not penetrate their hearts. And that is what happens to many today that are anointed because of their salvation in Jesus Christ, but lack the power of the Spirit of God in their lives because they are handling the Word of God deceitfully. How do I know if I am lacking the power of the Spirit of God in my life? 2 Corinthians 3:17 “Now the Lord is the Spirit; and where the Spirit of the Lord is, there is liberty.” What are the things that hinder us? What are the things that bind us? What are the things that we are lacking? If we honestly ask ourselves these questions and come up with things in our lives that truly hinder us, and find that there are issues in our lives that bind us to things that we do not want to be bound to, and realize that as Christians there are things promised to us that we are lacking, what do we do about it? 2 Corinthians 4:1 “Therefore, since we have this ministry, as we have receive mercy, we do not lose heart.” The most important thing for us, is to realize that God is not against us; sin in the New Testament is defined as missing the mark, God does not want us to miss the mark. He wants us to receive all the blessings that He has already made available to us. Romans 8:32 “He who did not spare His own Son, but delivered Him up for us all, how shall He not with Him also freely give us all things?” Remember that the key to the anointing power is truth, the above verse is powerfully liberating truth. I have been walking by faith in the Word of God for a while now, it will be thirty seven years this coming June, do you want to know what truth really is? Here is truth, Jesus loves us. He will never leave us nor forsake us, no matter what! Even when we are lacking the power of His anointing in our lives, He is right here. He will not go away, and He will never stop trying to get us into the true knowledge of His Word, so that we can receive the power of His anointing in our lives. He wants us to succeed. He does not want to see us lacking. He does not want to see us sick. He definitely does not want to see us powerless. In my many years walking with Him I have experienced a lot more failures than victories in the natural side of the ledger, but yet somehow out of the very failures of my many weaknesses He somehow always gained the victory in my life, and all because I did not quit in the face of failure. As a matter of fact, it has been in the midst of my greatest defeats that I have always experienced His greatest anointing. 2 Corinthians 3:18 “But we all, with unveiled face, beholding as in a mirror the glory of the Lord, are being transformed into the same image from glory to glory, just as by the Spirit of the Lord.” One of the greatest revelations that I’ve ever received from the Lord was while I was worshipping Him in a church service. The song that we were singing was, Here I am to worship; all of a sudden the Lord revealed to me in the middle of that song, the many schemes that the enemy had employed through the years to try to destroy my faith in Jesus. Things that I knew and many that I did not know. He just simply said to me, in spite of all that the enemy has done to try to destroy you, My grace is sufficient for you, and that was all the truth that I’ve ever needed. But we also need to understand that the power of the anointing follows a process of gradual transformation, and it requires steadfastness in our part. You see the true healing anointing begins in the inside of us. So that even when we do not see any immediate results we need to remain faithful to the truth of God’s promises, for He always comes through for us, although it may be years before we realize it, if ever while in this earth, for some, if not many of God’s greatest miracles on our behalf may never be known by us until we get to heaven. I have seen God heal a dying man from cancer even after my failure to pray for him, for I was intimidated by the hopelessness of the situation, but just the fact that I showed up to pray for the man was good enough for Jesus to heal him in spite of my failure to pray for him, although the man that got healed told everybody that I had prayed for him and that was how he was healed, yet I knew better than that, for I know for certain that I never prayed for the man. But I learned a great lesson that day, for the Lord spoke to me and said that my job was just to show up and pray, and that the rest was up to Him. So that it is our job to show up and not be intimidated by how hopeless the situation may seem. We are to pray, to anoint with oil, to proclaim the Word of God to those who are infirmed or bound by the enemy. But the miracle is always left up to the Anointer, the Spirit of Truth. I’ll close with this, a Scripture that I once heard an unbeliever proclaim on TV that it was so puzzling to him that he did not understand it and could not explain it. Mark 9:23-24 “Jesus said to him, ‘if you can believe, all things are possible to him who believes.’ Immediately the father of the child cried out and said with tears, ‘Lord, I believe; help my unbelief!” The deaf and dumb spirit that troubled the child was rebuked by our Lord and commanded never to enter into the child again. What was the criteria for this miracle? A father needed help to get his son healed. The Lord helped him on the basis of His compassion and love. There are all kinds of things that we need to do, and there are all kinds of things that we need to learn, and there are so many Scriptures that we need to understand better, but at the root of all these things we need to know that He is a God that loves us, that He is compassionate towards us, and that He is more willing to help us in our time of need that we are to ask for His help. He will work with us to train us, He will teach us how to respect His anointing, and He will lead us into the valley of trust and leave us out there for a while if need be so that we may learn how to trust Him more. But the bottom line is this: HE LOVES US NO MATTER WHAT! AND THAT IS THE TRUTH. Previous Next
- I WILL GIVE PEACE | House of Faith Ministries (HoFM)
< Back I WILL GIVE PEACE Pastor Marcos Marrero Objective: The objective of this teaching is to reveal how God’s promise of peace, spoken through the prophet Haggai, extends beyond the rebuilding of the physical temple and points to the indwelling presence of the Holy Spirit within the believer. Pastor Marcos emphasizes that in these end times, when everything that can be shaken will be removed, only what is eternal—faith, hope, love, and peace—will remain. This teaching aims to encourage believers to detach from worldly dependencies, seek inner peace through Christ, and prepare spiritually for trials and the return of the Lord. Synopsis: In I Will Give Peace, Pastor Marcos Marrero explores Haggai’s prophecy of the latter temple and connects it to the believer’s body as the dwelling place of the Holy Spirit. Drawing from Haggai, Hebrews, and the book of Acts, he shows how God’s glory was poured out on Pentecost and how the prophecy also points to the final shaking of heaven and earth at Christ’s return. The teaching explains that God allows the shaking of nations and the collapse of worldly systems to test what remains within His people. In these times, only those rooted in His Spirit and filled with His peace will endure. Pastor Marcos illustrates this truth by pointing to global tragedies, persecution of Christians, and the fragility of worldly security. Believers are urged to examine their hearts: would they still glorify God if stripped of every comfort and possession? The lesson highlights that true peace is not found in material things but in the eternal presence of Christ within. By renouncing worldly attachments, embracing the fruit of the Spirit, and remaining steadfast in faith, Christians can walk in the unshakable peace that God promised—peace that surpasses understanding and will sustain them through the end of days. Written teaching: Haggai 2:9 “‘The glory of this latter temple shall be greater than the former,’ says the Lord of hosts. ‘And in this place I will give peace,’ says the Lord of Hosts.” The literal translation for the word temple is house. Although Haggai is speaking about the rebuilding of the temple that had been destroyed, it is also referring to the physical body, which houses the spirit of man, that in a little while in their future, would be indwelled by the Spirit of God. Haggai 2:6-7 “For thus says the Lord of hosts: ‘Once more (it is a little while) I will shake heaven and earth, the sea and dry land; and I will shake all nations, and they shall come to the Desire of All Nations, and I will fill this temple with glory,’ says the Lord of hosts.” We know that Haggai’s prophecy is applicable to the end of days because it is quoted as such in the New Testament. Hebrews 12:26-27 “Whose voice then shook the earth; but now He has promised, saying, ‘Yet once more I shake not only the earth, but also heaven.’ Now this, ‘Yet once more,’ indicates the removal of those things that are being shaken, as of things that are made, that the things which cannot be shaken may remain.” The Desire of All Nations is a reference to Jesus Christ. When the Holy Spirit fell upon the believers on the day of Pentecost, all nations were represented in the city of Jerusalem. Acts 2:5 “And there were dwelling in Jerusalem Jews, devout men, from every nation under heaven.” So that we can see the fulfillment of Haggai’s prophecy where God said, I will fill this temple with glory, He was also speaking about filling the physical bodies of His future believers with His glory. And the part of the prophecy that said, I will shake heaven and earth, the sea and dry land, was a reference to His second coming, as explained in the Scripture that we quoted from Hebrews. And it is within this context that He gives us the promise of His peace. I will give peace. Now as we put it all together, we have a chronology of events that paints a picture for us for the times that we are living in, and one thing is made clear to us, we are going to need His inward peace in order to get through these difficult times that it portrays. We need to pray for Inward Peace. Why do we need to pray for peace that passes understanding? Now this, ‘Yet once more,’ indicates the removal of those things that are being shaken, as of things that are made, that the things which cannot be shaken may remain. The things that are going to be removed are the things that are made, the physical things upon which so many put their lives and energy into. And the reason that God is going to remove them is to see if what is left still has the glory with which He filled the house of all who believe. What would you do if everything that you possess that has been made, all of the sudden is taken away from you in an instant? Will you be at peace in spite of having nothing left of the things that you were so dependent upon? Could you stand in the absence of every comfort and convenience and necessity, and still give heart felt glory to God? Haggai 2:22 “I will overthrow the throne of kingdoms; I will destroy the strength of the Gentile kingdoms. I will overthrow the chariots and those who ride in them; the horses and their riders shall come down, every one by the sword of his brother.” If the rule of law that governs the nations ceases to exist and anarchy reigns, and if the wealth of the nation's collapses, and if the airliners fall from the skies, and if all modes of transportation come to a halt, will you still be at peace? It is hard to imagine going through such a catastrophic scenario, but did you know that many of our fellow believers around the world are going through indescribable trials that are just as bad? There was a plane not too long ago that disappeared from the sky with hundreds of people in it, and to this date, the family members of those who were lost have no idea what happened to their love ones. Another incident, hundreds of school's girls were kidnapped by those who believe that women have no right to be educated. Those who took them by force plan to sell them as slaves. Throughout Africa, the Middle East, China, Europe, and other parts of the world, believers are driven out on a daily basis, out of their homes, and out of their lands. In many instances they become refugees in other nations where they are not welcome, others are imprisoned, tortured and murdered in the very place that they once called home. I know that the tendency of many of us is that such terrible tragedies will not take place here, wherever our here is. But perhaps many of those to whom those bad things happened felt the same way that we do now. This covid-19 is the latest incident that has stopped everything around us. Now why am I saying all this? Well, if you are a believer like me, you are looking for our blessed hope to appear, that is when Jesus returns to take us all away with Him. If you follow prophecy, you know that the signs of His return encompass a heavenly shaking that will remove all those things that have been made, so that the only things that will remain, will be the eternal things like faith, hope, love, and yes, His peace. Although we have many signs around the world that these things are already taking place, and that many of our brethren are being martyred on a daily basis, we really do not want to face these facts and refuse to acknowledge that these are the end of days that we are witnessing. Haggai 1:2 “Thus speaks the Lord of hosts, saying: ‘This people says, “The time has not come, the time that the Lord’s house should be built.”’” As you can see, the Scriptures that we are dealing with in this lesson are clearly referring to the days that we are living in right now. The majority of Christians today live in denial, and do not want to consider that the Lord is about to come because they know that the Day of the Lord involves them losing everything they own in this world. Haggai 1:4 “Is it time for you yourselves to dwell in your paneled houses, and this temple to lie in ruins?” Remember that the temple, or house that lies in ruins, refers also to our physical bodies which are the temple of God, the Desire of All Nations. 1 Corinthians 6:19 “Or do you not know that your body is the temple of the Holy Spirit who is in you, whom you have from God, and you are not your own?” This is why we are to put all our emphasis on the spiritual qualities that are ours in abundance, for they reside in the Holy Spirit who is in us. 1 Corinthians 6:20 “For you were bought at a price; therefore glorify God in your body and in in your spirit, which are God’s.” I’m sure you are aware of the many warnings that Scripture proclaims in regards to our relationship with this world system. That friendship with the world is enmity with God. Whoever is a friend of the world is an enemy of God. One sure way to know that we have fallen for the deceitfulness of this world system is if we lose our peace when deprived of worldly things. That is why God is going to remove, and is already removing, the worldly things from many of His servants all around the world, to see what is it that remains within their hearts after all that was made in this world system is removed from them. Our turn is coming; if you have a stronghold within your soul for the delicacies of this world, and if you know that your peace would be lost if you were to lose all your belongings that you’ve received from the world; then you are in need of deliverance from those demonic strongholds. You can begin by renouncing your allegiance to this world system, then take an honest look into your heart, and let God remove from you whatever it is that needs to go in order for you to regain your peace. 2 Corinthians 4:2 “But we have renounced the hidden things of shame, not walking in craftiness nor handling the word of God deceitfully, but by manifestation of the truth commending ourselves to every man’s conscience in the sight of God.” Handle the Word of God truthfully, be honest with yourself and strive to produce spiritual fruit, for only that which is produced by the Holy Spirit who is in you will remain after He shakes both the earth and the heavens. 2 Peter 1:5-10 “But also for this very reason, giving all diligence, add to your faith virtue, to virtue knowledge, to knowledge self-control, to self-control perseverance, to perseverance godliness, to godliness brotherly kindness, and to brotherly kindness love. For if these things are yours and abound, you will be neither barren nor unfruitful in the knowledge of our Lord Jesus Christ. For he who lacks these things is shortsighted, even to blindness, and has forgotten that he was cleansed from his old sins. Therefore, brethren, be even more diligent to make your call and election sure, for if you do these things you will never stumble.” May the peace of our Lord Jesus Christ be with you all! Haggai 2:6-7 “For thus says the Lord of hosts: ‘Once more (it is a little while) I will shake heaven and earth, the sea and dry land; and I will shake all nations, and they shall come to the Desire of All Nations, and I will fill this temple with glory,’ says the Lord of hosts.” Previous Next
- THE FOUR PILLARS OF EVIL | House of Faith Ministries (HoFM)
< Back THE FOUR PILLARS OF EVIL Pastor Marcos Marrero Objective: The objective of this teaching is to expose the strategies of the enemy through the “four pillars of evil”—perversion, division, false religion, and malfunction—and to equip believers with the knowledge and spiritual understanding necessary to overcome these works of the flesh. By contrasting selfish ambition with the fruit of self-control, Pastor Marcos seeks to lead believers into deliverance, maturity, and a fruitful walk in the Spirit that aligns with God’s will and secures their inheritance in the Kingdom of God. Synopsis: In The Four Pillars of Evil, Pastor Marcos Marrero draws from Galatians 5:19–23 to reveal how the works of the flesh are rooted in selfish ambition and serve as tools of the enemy to hinder spiritual growth. He explains that, while salvation makes us righteous before God, deliverance from selfish desires requires knowledge of how the Spirit of God operates in contrast to the flesh. Pastor Marcos classifies the seventeen works of the flesh into four categories: Perversion, which twists truth and sows doubt; Division, which causes inner conflict and separation; False Religion, which binds believers to ritual and legalism instead of faith; and Malfunction, which renders believers ineffective and unfruitful for God’s purposes. Together, these pillars uphold the structure of evil that opposes the fruit of the Spirit. Through vivid examples, such as how a lie or doubt can destabilize relationships and faith, Pastor Marcos demonstrates the destructive power of perversion and the chain reaction it sets in motion—leading to division, false religion, and ultimately spiritual malfunction. He emphasizes that Satan, the accuser of the brethren, seeks to undermine believers’ confidence in God’s love and truth. Yet, the pathway to victory lies in embracing the truth of God’s Word, walking in the Spirit, and producing spiritual fruit, particularly self-control. By doing so, believers can dismantle the enemy’s strongholds, resist deception, and experience the freedom and joy of God’s Kingdom. Written teaching: Galatians 5:19-21 “Now the works of the flesh are evident, which are: adultery, fornication, uncleanness, lewdness, idolatry, sorcery, hatred, contentions, jealousies, outbursts of wrath, selfish ambitions, dissensions, heresies, envy, murders, drunkenness, revelries, and the like; of which I tell you before hand, just as I also told you in time past, that those who practice such things will not inherit the kingdom of God.” All the works of the flesh are driven by selfish ambitions, the goal of the fruit of the Spirit which emanates from God’s love for us, is to deliver us from our bondage to the selfish desires of our flesh, so that we can walk under the fruit of self-control. Galatians 5:22-23 “But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, longsuffering, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness (meekness), self-control. Against such there is no law.” If you have already accepted the forgiveness of sins that the sacrifice of Jesus on the cross purchased for your salvation, then the Spirit of God is already within you, and you have been qualified to produce spiritual fruit, and you can be delivered from the strongholds in your life that are keeping you from walking under the fruit of self-control. Proverbs 11:9 “The hypocrite with his mouth destroys his neighbor, but through knowledge the righteous will be delivered.” Once we accepted Jesus as our Savior, we became born again, born of the Spirit of the Living God, what that means is that we were made righteous before God, but now we need to seek the goal of our faith, 1 Peter 1:9, which is to be delivered from the selfish ambitions/desires of our soul and learn how to walk after the Spirit of God by producing within us the fruit of self-control. Proverbs tells us that it is through knowledge that we are able to obtain deliverance once we have accepted Jesus as our Savior and Lord. What kind of knowledge is there that we need to know in order to be delivered from our earthly desires that keep our souls bound? We need to know and understand how the spirit of Selfish Ambition and the spirit of Self-Control operate, and how they influence our behavior. In our opening text, where the works of the flesh were enumerated, we see that there were a total of seventeen works that were mentioned, one of them, which I highlighted, is selfish ambitions. In order for us to best understand how our flesh operates, I took the liberty to classify the works of the flesh by their function when I wrote about them in my book The Liberation of the Human Soul, which you can find in the book’s section of the houseoffatihministries.org. I classified four of the works of the flesh as perversion, for that is what they aim to accomplish. I classified another four of the works of the flesh as division, since that is what they aim to accomplish as well. Another four I found to be part of what I called false religion, for their aim is to bind us into legalism and away from true faith. And the last four I defined as malfunction, for that is the aim of all of the works of the flesh, to get humanity to falter to the point where it becomes worthless and useless to God. So that through the manipulation of our selfish desires and ambitions the devil tries to hinder the believers from implementing God’s will and purpose in the earth. That is why our opening text says that: those who practice such things will not inherit the kingdom of God. Romans 14:17 “For the kingdom of God is not eating and drinking, but righteousness and peace and joy in the Holy Spirit.” The kingdom of God is about producing spiritual fruit, and when we believe in a perversion of the truth, we open the door of our self or soul to the enemy to tempt us, who will then try to keep us from inheriting the kingdom of God by stifling our ability to produce spiritual fruit. PERVERSION 4 FALSE RELIGION SELFISH AMBITION DIVISION 4 1 4 MALFUNCTION 4 If you follow the chart above starting with perversion, you can see the progression of how the works of the flesh operate within us. The very first thing that the devil does is to try to pervert what we believe to be true by bringing the truth that we believe into question: did God really say? was the very first thing that the devil said that is recoded in the Bible. Once what we thought to be true comes into question, immediately we become inwardly divided, we do not like uncertainty so we look for a way out, what we naturally end up doing is trying to reestablish our sense of the truth through natural means instead of faith, that always leads to religious rituals; if we do certain things or pray in a different way, then what we believed to be truth will be realized once again, we think; but remember that reliance on religion is a false way to go about searching for the truth, for it is written that without faith it is impossible to please God. So that we end up malfunctioning until the issue is settled. John 8:32 “And you shall know the truth, and the truth shall make you free.” Here is how it works; Let’s say that you are a young adult and have your mother and father in your life, but out of nowhere the thought comes into your mind that they are not your real parents, at first you think of that thought as nonsense, but then memories come to mind that give some credence to the idea that maybe you were indeed adopted. You see, it does not matter whether you were really adopted or not, once you entertained that possibility, immediately your heart became divided, the equation of your relationship with your parents is forever altered. The first question that usually pops up is, If they are not my real parents, then who are my real parents? And then other questions follow, like, Where are they? Are they alive or dead? Why did they give me up? So that without a scintilla of facts our lives can be turned upside down in an instant, that is how the power of perversion works, and it works with the same power and in the same manner against anything that we believe to be true. So how do we deal with all of these new feelings and emotions? We try to reason our way out of them; we might say, if they are not my real parents at least they cared enough to adopt me. But the thought that they lied to you, or at least concealed the truth from you will not let you rest. So that the next time that you go and visit with your parents you will feel like your innocence was violated by them by not telling you the truth, and is now affecting your relationship with them to the point that is malfunctioning, for what else is there that they have hidden from you? What if your aunt, your mother’s sister, whom you have not seen in years, comes to visit and while you are all there, she begins to reminisce and starts telling you about when her sister, your mom, first told her that she was pregnant with you, and you can see them reliving that excitement of what they were going to name you is you were a boy, and just keep on talking about all those minute details of her pregnancy. The truth would immediately engulf you in such a liberating manner that you would feel so foolish that you even thought to doubt the truth that you had embraced for all your life. I used that long illustration to reveal to you how the truth of the Word of God can make you free. Satan is called the accuser of the brethren, and we are told that he accuses us before God day and night. Jesus is our advocate in God’s presence who is continuously covering us with His shed blood before God day and night as well. It is told of the saints in heaven that they overcame all the devil’s accusations with the blood of the Lamb and with the words of their testimonies. Revelation 12:10-11 “Then I hear a loud voice saying in heaven, ‘Now salvation, and strength, and the kingdom of our God, and the power of His Christ have come, for the accuser of our brethren, who accused them before our God day and night, has been cast down. And they overcame him by the blood of the Lamb and by the word of their testimony, and they did not love their lives to the death.’” What is the root of all the accusations that the devil is continuously hurling against us? Did God really say that He loves you? God speaks truth, the devil tries to cast doubts on our minds about God’s spoken truth, but ultimately, we decide what it is that we are going to believe. It is not until we embrace the truth that God loves us no matter what, and that He will never leave us nor forsake us no matter what, that we will be made free indeed, for whomever the Son makes free is free indeed. We can do better than just barely getting by in our walk of faith, we need not fear failure, and we need not embrace mediocrity of faith. I dare you to find somewhere in the Bible where it says that God does not love us, or that He does not care for us, so why entertain the lies of the devil any longer? Let us receive the truth today that we are accepted in the beloved, who gave His life as ransom for us, who is our shield and our deliverer. Pray according to our next Scripture. Psalm 86:11 “Teach me Your way, O Lord; I will walk in Your truth; Unite my heart to fear Your name.” The truth of the Word of God will unite your heart in such a manner that you will have no need of rituals or dead religions to rely upon, for the foundation of God’s truth is an unmovable foundation that will carry you out of whatever hell the devil throws your way. What is the word of your testimony today friend? Previous Next
- SPIRITUAL HEALING | House of Faith Ministries (HoFM)
< Back SPIRITUAL HEALING Pastor Marcos Marrero Objective: The objective of this lesson is to explain the necessity of spiritual healing as the foundation for true wholeness in spirit, soul, and body. Pastor Marcos emphasizes that the health of the “spirit-man” determines the vitality of the soul and the body, and only through God’s Word and truth can the believer experience restoration, strength, and freedom from fear and deception. Synopsis: In Spiritual Healing, Pastor Marcos teaches from 1 Thessalonians 5:23, showing that humanity is a three-part being: spirit, soul, and body. He stresses that the spirit-man is the most vital part of a person, for when it is sick or broken, no true healing can come to the mind or body. Even believers, though born again, can experience spiritual weakness under the pressures of a corrupt world system. Through scriptural insights such as Proverbs 18:14 and John 6:63, Pastor Marcos explains that a healthy spirit-man draws strength from the truth of God’s Word and thrives despite physical trials, while a weakened spirit results from lies, fear, and disobedience. He warns that indulging in deception can cause spiritual illness, as seen in Malachi’s and Ezekiel’s warnings to Israel. Spiritual healing begins with the “clean water” of God’s Word (Ezekiel 36:25-27), which renews the heart, removes impurities, and builds up the new man created in Christ. By feeding on truth, renouncing idols, and walking in obedience, the believer’s spirit is strengthened to rejoice in tribulation, cast out fear, and glorify God. Pastor Marcos concludes that spiritual healing is the process of aligning the spirit-man with God’s truth, resulting in a strong, victorious, and renewed life in Christ. Written teaching: 1 Thessalonians 5:23 “Now the God of peace Himself sanctify you completely; and may your whole spirit, soul, and body be preserved blameless at the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ.” The human body is made of three distinct parts; spirit, soul, and body. One physical unit with two spiritual components, the most important of the three is the spirit. If the spirit-man, as I call it, is sick or weak, everything else will be affected by it. As a matter of fact, there can be no true healing for the soul (mind) or for the physical body, unless and until the spirit-man becomes born again. But even born-again spirits can falter under the pressures of this worldly corrupt system of which we are part of. Proverbs 18:14 “The spirit of a man will sustain him in sickness, but who can bear a broken spirit? In other words, if the spirit-man is broken we are in real trouble. In this lesson I want to deal with the functions and conditions of the spirit-man and try to figure, from Scripture, how to bring spiritual healing to those who might be having problems with their spiritual condition. How do we Christians know if we need spiritual healing? 1 Corinthians 6:20 “For you were bought at a price; therefore glorify God in your body and in your spirit, which are God’s.” If we are experiencing problems worshiping, or glorifying God, in spite of our circumstances, we probably have a spiritual malady that needs to be remedied. A healthy spirit-man is impervious to physically induced trials, for the spirit-man is not sustained by physical means. John 4:24 “God is Spirit, and those who worship Him must worship in spirit and truth.” The spirit-man’s sustenance comes via the truth, Jesus is the Truth, and Jesus said in: John 6:63 “...The words that I speak to you are spirit, and they are life (for the spirit-man).” When a Christian is struggling in his spiritual relationship with God, meaning he/she is having trouble worshiping God in spirit, is due to the lack of truth within the spirit-man. For a healthy spirit-man is not troubled by physical circumstances, but rather, it rejoices in tribulations, and it grows stronger every time it takes on the lies of this world. If a healthy dose of God’s truth can make the spirit-man strong and able to thrive in this corrupt world environment, then the opposite is true as well, a lying spirit, uttering lying words, can make the spirit-man sick if the spirit-man indulges in the lies that its being offered. Malachi 2:15-16 “...Therefore take heed to your spirit, and let none deal treacherously with the wife of his youth...Therefore take heed to your spirit, that you do not deal treacherously.” Twice in consecutive verses God gives a stern warning to the people of Malachi’s days, concerning the condition of their spirit-man, take heed to your spirit, God told them twice. Within the context God is dealing with them about divorce, which God hates, and the truth of the laws concerning the putting away of one’s wife. Because they had perverted God’s laws to their own advantage, that is what dealing treacherously means, God is saying to them, watch out for the well being of your spirit-man for you are in violation of the truth of the Word of God. Ezekiel 21:7 “...Because of the news; when it comes, every heart will melt, all hands will be feeble, every spirit will faint, and all knees will be weak as water. Behold, it is coming and shall be brought to pass…” In the above passage God is telling the people of Israel that because of their abominations, He is going to judge them severely. But I want you to look at the progression of how the spirit-man becomes weak and faint; It begins with these words: because of the news of that which was about to happen to them, fear originated in their hearts and then it manifested itself in the body with their hands becoming feeble and their knees weak. Now let us turn that around, if our spirit-man is weak and feeble because of the fears that we have been entertaining, what happens if we introduce our spirit-man to the good news and precious promises found in the truth of God’s Word. Galatians 4:6-7 “And because you are sons (your spirit-man is born again), God has sent forth the Spirit of His Son into your hearts, crying out, ‘Abba, Father!’ Therefore you are no longer a slave but a son (in the spirit-man), and if a son, then an heir of God through Christ.” We are no longer slaves to fear, fear of the slander of the enemy, for God’s perfect love that has been shed abroad in our hearts casts out all fear. There is no reason for us to fret about our present condition, or about the future, be it our future, our children’s future, our families future, our nation’s future. There will be tribulations that we will face, but they will only make our spirits stronger, for that confirms the Word of God in which we are feeding. A healthy spirit is a strong spirit. Ezekiel 36:25-27 “Then I will sprinkle clean water (the truth of God’s Word) on you, and you shall be clean; I will cleanse you from all your filthiness and from all your idols. I will give you a new heart and put a new spirit (born-again spirit) within you; I will take the heart of stone out of your flesh and give you a heart of flesh. I will put My Spirit within you and cause you to walk in My statutes, and you will keep My judgments and do them.” Spiritual healing begins when we drink into our spirit-man the clean water of the Word of God, renounce the filth and idolatries of this lie-infested world system, and put on the new man, the spirit-man that is created in the image of Jesus. Colossians 3:9-10 “Do not lie to one another, since you have put off the old (spirit-man) man with his deeds, and have put on the new (spirit-man) man who is renewed in knowledge (of the Word of God) according to the image of Him who created him.” Previous Next
- FRAGMENTED SOULS | House of Faith Ministries (HoFM)
< Back FRAGMENTED SOULS Pastor Marcos Marrero Objective: The objective of Fragmented Souls is to teach believers about the reality of a fragmented soul, how it impacts spiritual, emotional, and physical well-being, and to reveal God’s provision for healing and restoration through His Word and Spirit. The lesson aims to lead Christians into wholeness of soul and spirit by rejecting lies, embracing the truth of God’s Word, and attaining singleness of heart to walk in righteousness before the Lord. Synopsis: In Fragmented Souls, Pastor Marcos Marrero explores the depth of what it means for the human soul to be broken and divided, and how God restores it to wholeness. Beginning with Psalm 23:3—“He restores my soul”—the teaching examines how both the soul and the spirit dwell within the spiritual heart, the unseen core of human existence that influences attitudes, emotions, and will. Unlike the physical body, which may lose parts and still survive, the soul does not lose parts but rather becomes fragmented, separated from within, leading to spiritual weakness and oppression. Drawing from passages like Luke 4:18, Pastor Marcos explains that Jesus came to heal the brokenhearted and restore fragmented souls to their original, God-designed state. A fragmented soul occurs when it has been moved or motivated by lies rather than truth. Lies fragment the soul, but the truth of God’s Word heals, restores, and liberates. Thus, restoration begins with being born again by the Spirit of truth, which energizes the soul to let go of deception and embrace the freedom offered in Christ (John 8:32). The lesson also distinguishes between soul and spirit: the soul functions like an engine that awaits a spiritual current (inspiration or influence), while the spirit acts as the energy flow that drives it. When the spirit is energized by God’s Word, the soul is empowered to overcome fragmentation. However, when deceived by worldly lies, the soul remains weakened and oppressed. Pastor Marcos warns that the world system, rooted in deception, continually seeks to indoctrinate through false teachings such as evolution or man-made traditions, which keep souls divided. Healing requires discerning lies from truth, forgiving those who unintentionally passed down deceptions, and rejecting practices that perpetuate fragmentation. Scripture assures that those with a pure, undivided heart will receive blessing and righteousness from God (Psalm 24:3-5). Ultimately, restoration of the soul is achieved by fully relying on God’s promises and living in the truth of His Word. Fragmented Souls concludes with a call for believers to stand apart from deceit, idolatry, and worldly influences, so that their souls may be whole, strong, and fully aligned with God’s will, walking in the righteousness of salvation. Written teaching: Psalm 23:3 “He restores my soul…” What is the soul and where does it reside within me? Does my soul need restoration? What is a fragmented soul? Psalm 86:11 “Teach me Your way, O Lord; I will walk in Your truth; Unite (give me an undivided heart, singleness of heart) my heart to fear Your name." Within the Biblical context, the heart is the symbolic dwelling place for the spirit within us. And since our souls and our spirits are both spirits, they both dwell within us in a place called the heart, not our physical hearts. The physical human heart is strategically placed within our chest cavity, the torso, and from there it disseminates the oxygen rich life-giving substance that is in our blood. Our spiritual hearts are also located in a cavity somewhere within our torsos; however, it is an invisible place that is strategically located within us and from it flows the spiritual life and well being that comprises our persona, with its attitudes, intents, wills, and emotions. 1 Thessalonians 5:23 “Now may the God of peace Himself sanctify you completely; and may your whole spirit, soul, and body be preserved blameless at the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ.” Just like our human bodies can live and function without limbs, it appears, by the usage of the word whole by Paul, that our spirits and souls can exist and function as well while fragmented and weakened. Just like a human body can only achieve its full potential when all of its parts are present and functioning properly, it appears that it is the same way for our spirits and souls. They can only achieve their full potential when they are whole. However, unlike our human bodies that may be missing a limb or a physical part that they have to do without, it seems like our souls do not lose a part, but rather, their parts become separated or fragmented from one another. Luke 4:18 “The Spirit of the Lord is upon Me, because He has anointed Me to preach the gospel to the poor; He has sent Me to heal the brokenhearted (fragmented hearts, to heal means to restore to its original settings), to proclaim liberty to the captives and recovery of sight to the blind, to set at liberty those who are oppressed.” A brokenhearted condition, fragmented soul, causes those who are afflicted by it to be hindered in their walk. They become captives to their condition, blinded and unable to see clearly where their malady originates from, and therefore become oppressed by their circumstances. The good news of the Gospel is that fragmented souls can be healed! 1 Peter 1:9 “Receiving the end (goal) of your faith—the salvation (deliverance, healing, restoration) of your souls.” Not only can our fragmented souls be healed, but our goal should also be in life to attain singleness of heart. So that we can fully comprehend what is the fear or respect for our Lord’s name, which is the beginning of wisdom. How do we do it? Let me first deal with the difference between our soul and our spirit, although our emphasis in this lesson is the fragmented soul, it is important for us to know how the two interact. Unlike a fragmented soul, where its integrity is breached and its parts become segregated, I believe that the spirit operates more in the sense of an energy flow. A spirit with a very low flow of energy cannot energize the human soul to the point of being able to restore it. A spirit that has a very strong energy flow makes it a lot easier for a fragmented soul to be restored. The word for spirit, as in your whole spirit is the Greek word Pneuma from where we get the term pneumatic tool from. Pneuma means spirit, a blast or a current of air that drives something. The word for soul, as in your whole spirit, soul is the Greek word translated as Psychic, from where we get the word, psychology, the study of the human personality or mind. It means spirit as well, air/spirit that is static and waiting to be moved by a current or inflow. A rudimental way of saying it, our souls are like an invisible motor that runs on blasts or currents of air/spirit. When a person is influenced or inspired by something, that person is receiving an inflow that is moving the soul, an invisible inspiration or spiritual infusion. A soul becomes fragmented when it realizes that it has been motivated by a lie. A lie is a spiritual force that drives people away from the truth. John 8:32 “And you shall know the truth, and the truth shall make you free.” Jesus told us that the words that He speaks to us are spirit and that they are life, and that by believing them, His words, our souls can be made free from the power of the lies that fragmented the soul to begin with. John 6:63 “It is the Spirit (Pneuma) who gives life; the flesh profits nothing. The words that I speak to you are spirit, and they are life.” In order to heal the fragmented soul our spirits have to be born again. Born of the Spirit of truth, for it is the truth of the Word of God that is able to infuse into our spirits the level of energy required to then motivate the soul to let go of the lies that divide it. Hebrews 4:12 “For the word of God is living (Zoe in Greek, and it means life giving and life sustaining, like spiritual blood) and powerful (Energea in Greek, and it means energy), and sharper than any two-edged sword, piercing even to the division of soul and spirit, and of joints and marrow, and is a discerner of the thoughts and intents of the heart.” So that it is the truth of the Word of God that energizes the born-again spirit, which in turn motivates the soul to seek deliverance from oppression and bondage. It happens as soon as the soul’s spiritual eyes are opened to the truth that it has been fragmented by the lies it was told. Everything in this world system is based on a lie. Romans 1:24-25 “Therefore God also gave them up to uncleanness, in the lusts of their hearts (fragmented their souls), to dishonor their bodies (caused their bodies to malfunction) among themselves, who exchanged the truth of God for the lie, and worshiped and served the creature rather than the Creator, who is blessed forever. Amen.” Our bodies malfunction as the result of our souls becoming fragmented, and our souls become fragmented when we reject the truth of the Word of God and end up falling for the lie. The fragmented soul can only be healed and restored as the result of an individual rejecting the lie that it believed, and embracing the truth of the Word of God, which is what spiritual discernment is all about, seeing our true condition in the mirror of His revealed Word to us. Our children as well as the rest of us face constant indoctrination attempts from the purveyors of the lie. In schools as well as through television programs we are constantly bombarded with the notion of evolution. You hear them say frequently that millions of years ago this happened and that took place, like they were there you know. These are the same people that can not even get the recent historical events right. I can disprove the theory of evolution very easy, if as they often say that we humans are the parasites that have infested this world, then why are they still here if they really believe that? In their pious pomp would they not have castrated themselves and saved the world for the sake of the animals that they worship? They don’t really believe that. They just want us to believe it so that they can feel superior. Galatians 5:12 “As for those agitators, I wish they would go the whole way and emasculate themselves!” NIV Once our spiritual eyes are opened to their mischievousness, for they do not really want to liberate people with knowledge of the truth, but rather their aim is to imprison people with their lies; then we are free to receive the liberating truth of God’s Word that make us wise. On a personal level, we have to deal with the lies that have been perpetrated against us by the people that we knew and who were responsible for our upbringing. With the grace of God to aid us, we need to realize that many of the lies that we were subjected to as we were growing up, were non-intentional on the part of those who taught us to follow the ways of this world. For the most part they did not know what they were doing to us. They were just teaching us what they had been taught in many instances. We need to forgive in order to receive the knowledge that leads to our deliverance from the institutionalized lies of this world system. Why is it necessary to rid ourselves of man-made traditions that seem harmless even to some of us today? Anything that aided the fragmenting of the soul will keep the person whose soul was fragmented from receiving the goal of their faith, the deliverance of their souls. Psalm 24:3-5 “Who may ascend into the hill of the Lord? Or who may stand in His holy place? He who has clean hands and a pure (undivided) heart, who has not lifted up his soul to an idol, nor sworn deceitfully. He shall receive blessing from the Lord and righteousness from the God of his salvation.” The word sworn literally means to affirm oneself. Within the context, sworn deceitfully, it simply means to continue practicing and believing something that is not truth. Those who continue to practice the lies that this world system espouses will not receive blessings from the Lord. The spiritual blessings that empower us to walk in the righteousness of the salvation that He has granted to us by His mercy and grace. To make our souls whole again we must rely totally on the promises offered to us by God Himself within His Word. When our souls can truly and confidently declare what our last verses of Scripture for this lesson say, then you will know that your soul has been healed to the max. Psalm 26:4-5 “I have not sat with idolatrous mortals, nor will I go in with hypocrites. I have hated the assembly of evildoers, and will not sit with the wicked.” Previous Next
