DISCERNING SPIRITS

Pastor Marcos Marrero

23 फ़रवरी 2007

The teaching frames spiritual discernment as essential because our struggle is not against flesh and blood but against spiritual powers. Using Matthew 12:43–45, it explains how an unclean spirit, once expelled, seeks reentry; if the “house” (the inner life) is left empty, it returns with seven worse spirits, leaving the person in a worse condition. Therefore, deliverance must be followed by filling—with the Holy Spirit and love.

The message traces today’s “wicked generation” to idolatry and resulting iniquity (Exodus 20:4–5; Psalm 7:14). Idolatry equals hatred toward God; where hatred resides, it breeds further corruption. Proverbs 26:24–26 is presented as the key: a hating heart hides behind smooth words yet holds seven abominations that will manifest publicly.

These seven abominations (rooted in hate and often aligning with lust of the flesh, lust of the eyes, and the pride of life) are outlined from Proverbs:

Pride in heart—the mask that partners with hate (Prov 16:5).

Sacrifice of the wicked—religious activity from wrong motives (Prov 15:8; cf. Luke 18:11–13).

Thoughts of the wicked—a mindset that produces slander, gossip, and put-downs (Prov 15:26).

Perverse heart—malice that delights in others’ harm (Prov 11:20).

Lying lips—deceit used to get ahead; envy and self-seeking (Prov 12:22; cf. Jas 3:14).

Dishonest scales—systemic dishonesty in life and work (Prov 11:1).

Perverse person—a counterfeit self formed by sustained deceit and sin (Prov 3:32).

Practical ministry application: discern the spirit behind behaviors (e.g., anger, slander), respond with prayer and blessing rather than retaliation, and aim at the root of hate (including self-hate), not merely the symptoms.

The antidote is God’s love poured into our hearts by the Holy Spirit (Rom 5:5, 8). When love fills the “house,” returning spirits find no vacancy. Believers are assured that nothing can separate us from the love of God in Christ (Rom 8:37–39). The call is to maintain a Spirit-filled life so the fruits of love (Gal 5:22–23) displace the fruits of hate, securing lasting freedom.

Objective:

Equip believers to understand and practice the gift of discerning of spirits (1 Corinthians 12:10) by identifying hate as the “strongman” behind many manifestations of evil, recognizing how these spirits operate, and learning to replace them with the indwelling Holy Spirit and the love of God.

Inspired Teaching - Written and/or Transcribed from Video Above:

Amen. Praise God. I didn't make copies for this uh but I posted them on the House of Faith Ministries um uh web page. Um and in 1 Corinthians 12:10 is I got three pages, so I don't know how how far I'm going to go with this, but I definitely want to lay out the um um the framework. But in 1 Corinthians 12:10, uh Paul lists nine different spirits. And uh I just broke in there into the middle of it where it says uh to another prophecy and to another discerning of spirits. Fred asked me to teach in um in the spiritual discernment. This is a gift. If you reading in 1 Corinthians 12 says that the gift are given for the profit of all for all of the believer to profit. So in 1 Corinthians towards the end after Romans, Matthew, Mark, Luke, John, Acts and then Romans and then 1 Corinthians. In 1 Corinthians 12, it lists nine of this spirit. And I want to speak tonight specifically on the one having to do with discerning of spirits. Um now why is it important for us to have spiritual discernment? Well the Bible says that we wrestle not against flesh and blood but against principalities and power. So our battle with spirit. If you have a a problem with anger or if you have a spouse or a child or or a parent that u has a problem with anger and it affects your life. Anger is a spirit. And uh if you try to deal with a situation with anger in the natural, guess what? There's going to be a fight, an argument. Usually how we do the same way with you name, you name any of those areas and it will happen like that. It has to do with with spirit. So understanding, spiritual discernment is the gift that God has given to us. It's a spiritual gift. the Holy Spirit has put it in us. As we develop this ability to understand spirits, it will make it so much easier for us to understand ourselves, why we do the things that we do and uh understanding others that we relate with. in Matthew uh 12:es 43, 44, and 45. Matthew, the first of the gospels in the New Testament, um Jesus gives us an insight into how spirits operate. And so beginning in in verse 43 of Matthew uh 12, it says, "When an unclean spirit goes out of a man," Matthew, the first book in the in the New Testament, "When an unclean spirit goes out of a man, he goes through dry places seeking rest and finds none." Then he says,"I will return to my house from which I came." And when he comes, he finds it empty, swept, and put in order. Then he goes and take with him seven other spirits, more wicked than himself, and they enter and dwell there. And the last state of that man is worse than the first. So shall it also be with this wicked generation. Now Jesus is giving us an insight into spiritual discernment. He says when you are able by your own strength to deal with a spirit that is within you and you're able to say you know what this is it I'm not going to do this no more and you're powerful enough to drive that quality in your life that that bother you says this spirit goes out leaves he sees us the body as a house that's what he calls it and but when he's kicked out of the house. He looks for another place. Can't find it. That's what Jesus says. He's looking for He's wandering through dry places and he finds no rest anywhere. So he says, "I'm going to come back to the house, see if there's a way that I can back in." Then he comes back to the house. He finds it clean, swept, and everything in order. Because many you decided, I'm going to get my life right. I'm going to do the things that I need to do. And then you get rid of some of the things. But here it's talking about a person that evidently is doing it on their own strength. The spirit, the unclean spirit comes back, finds a house nice and clean, and it finds that uh is empty as far as another spirit operating in there, which is why we need the Holy Spirit to dwell in every area of our soul. And so he knows that this person is going to be able to kick him out again. So what does he does before he goes back into the house? Jesus says that he finds seven other spirits more wicked than himself and then they come back into the man or the person and now this person is in worse shape than it was when it began. Now, how many of us have been there where we said, you know what, I'm going to get my life right, man. I'm not I'm going to stop doing this. I'm And we make oursel that commitment that we're not going to do certain things anymore. And we do pretty good for a while and then all of a sudden things begin to fall apart and before you know it we wish, man, I wish I would have never tried to mess with this thing because we wind up being in worse shape than we were the first time. Why? Because we were able to clean the house. We were able to get rid of those things that that that that we didn't want no part of. But these things somehow knew how to get back in. And this time came a lot stronger. And then we wind up being in a worse mess. You know, it's the truth that for us human, every time we try to do the right thing, we wind up sometimes we wind up in a lot worse shape. So this is the setting here that I want to use for understanding how spiritual uh understanding can help us in this. First of all, in Psalm 7:14,

we need to identify who this spirit is. who the spirit that dwells in the house that is able to summon these other seven spirits. Uh uh so uh the first key is at the end of Matthew in verse 45 where Jesus says so shall it also be with this wicked generation. Jesus is saying that when there is a generation that is wicked people are open to this demonic infestation. So in Psalm 7:14, this is what Psalm 7:14 says, "Behold, the wicked brings forth iniquity." Psalm 7:14, "Behold, the wicked brings forth iniquity." Now, what is iniquity? Iniquity is inherited sin. Meaning that we're living in a generation that is paying the price for the sins of our fathers and our forefathers. You see, if the church would have been operating in the power of the spirit and anointing instead of being caught up in idolatry, this generation wouldn't be wicked. This because that's what the church job is. The job of the church is to convict the world of ungodliness. the church by the power and the anointing that he has is able to to to preach to a generation and convict the the ungodliness that's going around. You know, back there was a time to where in radio or in television there were words that you wouldn't dare mention. The the people will have such an uproar if certain things were said in the movies that they made. Now, Europe wasn't like that. In Europe, they were showing all kinds of bad things and the directors here kept saying, "How can we get this in America? How can we get this in America? How come in Europe, they have all of the well only five or 10% of the people in Europe go to church while over 50% of the people in America go to church?" That was a difference. But you see, Satan had to find a way to get that wickedness into here. And and the the way to do it was to corrupt or contaminate the church because anytime a church gets involved with idolatry, that church loses his spiritual power because the spiritual power comes from God and God is pure and God is holy and God does not h mix us with sin. So once a church the message that a church proclaimed is contaminated with idolatry or sin loses its power, loses the Holy Spirit moves out of it. And so you see it that you can go now to your TV and watch a movie from the 40s and watch a movie from the 50s and then watch something that is on MTV right now and you can see the difference. I mean I'm old enough. I was born in 47 where I can see the difference. They speak on regular TV. You can be watching regular normal TV and they speak words that that would make you blush. I remember 30, 40 years ago, you would hear that and you make you blush. They speak of of of of things like why? Because this generation that we're living on because of the lack of the spiritual authority that the church fails to enforce is a generation of wickedness. And Jesus says that to that wicked generation, the people in that wicked generation are exposed to the demon that the spirit that is in all of us resident that when we kick him out because that's what you want to do. You want to live your life without being bound to anything is able to summon up seven other spirits worse than themselves to where they come in and make the people worse. Now, you hear things in the news today, like, for example, that u a a a guy just goes up and gets a gun and shoots 20 or 30 totally and completely innocent people that he never saw, that he never met, that he couldn't care. He kills him and then kills himself. They speak to these mass murderers that that were caught. Well, there's a spirit, there's a force, there's something that got into them that's driving them. Their lives were not their lives anymore. They hear voices. They they heard the voices say, "Go and kill such and such person." We're living in that generation. And thank God, I think that this is the last generation. I think Jesus is coming back in this generation. You know, I believe that that we have a big door opening in a couple of years for the return of the Lord. And I'm looking for the signs and and and uh there's troops massing right now in Syria and in Israel. And there's um uh uh things happening in nature. There was a meteorite or something that fell either in Chile or Argentina someplace. 200 people were sick from this thing. Uh there was a big flash, a bright light that went over New Mexico. They don't know what it was. There's things happening in the spirit. Why? Because in this end time generation, there's going to be a confrontation or a battle between spirits. the spirit of righteous, the spirit of God is going to confront the spirit of Satan. It is it is going to happen before the Lord returns. Okay? And and the idea is for us not to be contaminated so that when this battle takes place, we have the authority of God. Because you see, one of the things is that when the authority of God is upon you, Satan can't touch you. And so spiritual discernment is the key for us to know what spirit we're operating on, what spirit the people around us are operating on so that we can understand. So this is vital to for understanding what's going on. We're on a wicked generation. Now in Exodus 24 and 5 when God gave the ten commandments, he said that

commandment was number one was do not make any images. You know the Lord your God is one. Worship him alone. No idolatry. Idolatry was forbidden. And then in in verse four of Exodus 20, it says, "Because I am a yellow God. And the sins of the father is passed on to the children to the third and to the fourth generation." That's what iniquity is. So it says in Psalm uh uh 7:14, "Behold, the wicked brings forth iniquity." So wicked, the word wicked has to do with idolatry. When you worship idols, immediately there's an iniquity that flows and it goes to three or four generations. So we as a church had to look back and said, where was the church three or four generations ago? Because if the church is powerless, then the church got into idolatry. And that's why wickedness is going into the church today. You say, "Well, how can you prove that it's in the church today?" Well, look at the statistics. Here in the United States, we have enough people that go to church faithfully that they do a statistic all over. Divorce in in the national rate and in the Christians, the people that go to church and claim to be Christian, it's the same the same. There there's no disparity. There's not less Christians and and more unbelievers. Uh uh look at cancer. How many Christians dies of cancer versus how many people in the world die of cancer? Look at it's the same. We're no different. The Christian going to church today has the same chances to having these things happen to him that it does in the world. Now why is that? Well, because the church is definitely has allowed this iniquity to come in. Has allowed it because of idolatry, because of compromise, because of whichever way it came is affecting us. So, we as Christians need spiritual discernment to understand what spirits are behind what's going on if we're going to uh uh to prosper in this. Now, the root of wickedness is idolatry. And the root of idolatry is hatred towards God. Because God says in in in Exodus 25, he says, "I the Lord your God am a jealous God visiting the iniquity of the fathers upon the children to the third and fourth generation of those who hate me." God says, "Those who commit idolatry hate me." As a matter of fact, first John, I think John in first or second John says, "Love of the world is hatred towards God." You cannot get any more plain than that. Love of the world is hatred towards God. Doesn't it say that? Okay. So, hate or hatred is at the root of wickedness and and and u iniquity is all there. Why? Because when you are saying to God, I don't want to worship you God. I'd rather worship this other thing myself whatever you're hating God. You see, in in in in in the Hebrew sense of the word, when Jesus says, "If you don't hate your mother or hate your your father uh uh and love me, you have no part of me." We cannot understand that thinking. But in the Hebrew word, there's no in the Hebrew language, there's no word for in between. You either love or you hate. There's no middle ground to where, oh yeah, I love God, but I also love this. No, no. You love God, you hate everything else. I mean, God gives us everything else. But but that is the mentality of it. And God is saying, if you have any hint of idolatry and anything that you do, you hate me. That's what he says. Because idolatry is hatred towards God. And idolatry is the root of all wickedness and and the root of all contamination. So God sees any part of idolatry as hate, hatred towards him. And that opens the door for this inherited sin. A wicked generation is the generation that hates God. Now tell me if you can can reason, does this generation that we live today, does it hate God? Ask yourself the question in school. You cannot carry the Bible. Did you know here in California, they can teach the Quran? They have a the Muslim months that just started Ramadan. They teach the kids how to use the the veil and how to pray. They're they can teach all of that. They say, "Well, that's not religion. That's culture." They'll call it that. They use whatever. California, you can do that. But you walk with that Bible right there right now and you're gone. Uh this guy Madina, the president of Iran, he's going to speak in Colombia University. People are now say, "Well, we believe in freedom of speech. We believe that that that that different ideas have to be given a forum." Did you know that there was a guy that was going to speak there that believes that homosexuality is is is an abomination to the Lord? He will not be allowed to speak. Why? Because he's speaking the word of God. They have freedom of speech for everybody else, but not for God, the Bible. They have freedom of religion for everybody else, culture, but not God. And so, we living in a generation that hates God. As a matter of fact, this what marks this this year right here right now, I have never seen in in the 42 years that I've been in this country, I have never seen so much hatred as I have seen today. I mean, our president, if you don't agree with him, it's not like it used to be you didn't like this president, you don't like this president, you just don't support. No, there's pure nothing but pure hatred right now towards different polit and it's in both sides. This is why so-called Christians go and bomb abortion clinics and shoot people. We are in a generation that is infested with hate. And that hate now is what opens the door for the seven worst spirits to come in. And so this is the revelation that the Lord has given given me for tonight that a wicked generation is a generation that is into idolatry. And that idolatry, God sees a hatred towards him. And that hatred opens the door now, like Jesus said, for this spirit, for the person that is trying to live a right life because you don't have to be a conservative or liberal or or this or that or the other, black or white or yellow or blue. Everybody wants to be the best they can. Nobody wakes up in the morning and said, "Man, I want to be an able person today." Everybody gets up and wants to be the best they can. and you get your house in order and you try to get your house in order, but because we're in this wicked generation, this spirits have clean access. They have like a freeway built right into us with no toll booth or nothing. They just go right in there. And so, so now according to Jesus, these seven different kinds of spirits emanate or come from hate. Now this is interesting because in uh Galatians 5:22-23 where the fruit of the spirits are lifted. You read there it says the fruit now fruits plural the fruit singular the fruit of the spirit is love. And then out of love come joy, peace, longsuffering, kindness, gentleness, meekness, self-control, faithfulness. out of love. See, God so loved the world that he gave his only begotten son. The love that God demonstrated for us where he shed his love abroad in our hearts opens the door for us to receive fruit. Let me define fruit as the manifestation of the love of God. See, when I love somebody, when I'm good to somebody, when I'm faithful to my word, when I walk in righteousness, when when when I'm meek and humble, when I do all of the things, they're all a manifestation of love. Love is a fruit. When the my bornagain spirit, when I received the Lord and I was born again, my spirit was shed or flooded with the love of God, which were demonstrated by his sacrifice on the cross. That love now begins to express itself through me through different ways. Through faithfulness, I was faithful now. I was a faithful person. I was this. I was that. I was the other. Meek humbleness. All of these are manifestations of the love of God in me. Well, in the same way, hate being the root of Satan, hate manifests itself in different ways. And that's what I want to deal with today. Let's find out what the fruit of hate or dumb manifestations of hate are because this is the things we need to deal with. And the scripture I want you to see is Proverbs 26 verses 24, 25, and 26. And if you can look it up is critical that we read this. Proverbs chapter 26. This is a revelation. And what I'm teaching here tonight is a revelation that the Lord's given me this week. I never taught this before. Proverbs is after the book of Psalms. Psalms is in the middle of your Bible. Proverbs 26 24 25 and 26. Look what it says. He who hates disguises it with his lips and lays up deceit within himself. When he speaks kindly, do not believe him. For there are seven abominations in his heart. Though his hatred is covered by deceit, his wickedness will be revealed before the assembly. Now notice what the scripture says. This is a revelation. That scripture says that a person who has hate instead of love. Remember love is if if is the fruit of of of the spirit of God. You cannot be saved unless you're baptized into the spirit. Paul says that by faith we're baptized into one body. That's the body of Jesus Christ. And it's the Holy Spirit that does that. So once love comes in, there are now eight manifestations of the love of God, which is joy and peace and and and and u uh uh longsuffering and goodness and gentleness and meekness and self-control and and faithfulness. All of those are manifestation of love. Now it says there a person who hate. A person who has hate rested within him has seven abominations within him or within her. And these things will be manifested as wickedness. And I show you the wickedness is having to do with idolatry and iniquity which is uh uh inherit sin. So hate then and this is the revelation. Hate is the key spirit. Hate is the spirit that is resident in all of us. Because you see before we accepted the Lord Jesus Christ, we had no capacity to love. The love in the sense that the Bible speaks of love. Now fileo love which is brotherly love or it's talking about the love of God. The unconditional love of God. Agapeo agape love. Agapeo love is the unconditional love of God. The Bible says I love Jesus because he first loved me without the love of Jesus first in us. We have no capacity to love agape. Agape love without the spirit of God. So if we did not have the capacity to agape or agape that love then what did we have selfishness which at the center of it is you will see is hate. Why? Because the last fruit of the spirit is self-control in in in the works of the flesh. Selfishness is the center of them. So but how does this spirit notice that it says that it hides? This is why we haven't found it all this time. He says the person who has hate hides it. Disguise it. This is why Fred in the ministry so many time that we minister to people, we were missing the key. And I believe we're missing the key because the strong man in the person was hate. Selfhate is one of the biggest problems when you're dealing with people because Satan has has has put them down and has made him to experience hate for so long that it is in there. But look how we cover it up. He says there, "He who hates this guy says it with his lips and lays up deceit with himself." Meaning it's like putting a band-aid. You have this problem. You have this hurt. You have this selfhate. So you try to cover it up and then you try to speak kindly. He said, "Don't believe him. When somebody putting all these moves on you and all these nice, they're disguising." Hey, why? Because hate will betray you. Hate will be see true love, unconditional love will always be there for you. You know, you can tell all of those people that uh that used to follow Britney's peers, she did something and bummed out real bad. Now everybody hates her. Two years ago, everybody loves her. Now everybody hates her. But you see, that's because this is the type of world that we're living in. True love will stick with a person when you're doing good or when you're doing bad. But it says here that they disguise it. If I would had this revelation when we're doing those uh uh ministry, this would be tremendous because the root is hate. He says there so clearly hates his guys. And then he says don't believe him. Why why don't you believe a person that that that hates and that is his because there are seven abominations in his or her heart. And it says, "Though that hatred is covered by deceit, the wickedness will be revealed before the assembly." That's when you're ministering. You know, a lot of times, uh, I remember ministering to this guy. We're ministering to him. Very strong Aztec spirit that we were dealing with. Remember upstairs over there. And man, we're fighting and fighting and fighting until he got set free. And we kept pushing every button, everything we could to get this guy set free. When he's set free, we asked him said, What was the trouble? What's the problem? He says the only thing that that thing responded to was love. You remember, I can't remember his name, but he says every time you guys spoke about love, that thing hated it. He told us the strong man, this it was a a Leviathan type of kind of snake spirit that this guy was was really wrestling with and and he wanted to be a friend. He couldn't. And we battle and we cast that thing and we did everything we could. And by the time we finally got to him, we asked him, we were there what, four or five hours with him. And that was the second time, I think. Huh? Yeah. He had the Mexican flag in his pocket. Remember, he's half Mexican, half black. Had tremendous hatred towards black people. Remember, because his father was black and had a something like that. But anyway, this and and that's true. Hate was a root cause in there. But when Huh? Yeah. Yeah. It was a root cause. And when we finally spoke to him, he he said, "Every time you guys spoke about love, I think hated it. How God loved me, how Jesus had died for my sin, how you were how I was important to God, how God had a purpose in my all of the things that the the spirit couldn't take it." And now it makes sense. Why? Because hate is at the root of the thing. Hate is at the root of the thing. And so when you show love, that spirit couldn't handle it. Now, what I want to do tonight is deal with what are these seven abominations. And these seven abominations, uh, I'm just going to barely touch on them because I can

I got three pages of them. So, this is for Fred, by the way. Fred is the one that asked for this. So, uh, we'll have to he'll have to work out the things in there. But I want to show you how hate has different spirit. And by the way, Fred is already the Lord had given a revelation on this. He was showing me some of the work that he's doing and how it connects uh with it over here. Okay. What are these seven abominations and and how do they manifest? Look at Proverbs chapter 16 verse 5. And we're going to be in the book of Proverbs. So just stay there. All of these abominations are in the book of Proverbs. Abomination number one. Now remember, hatred is a strong man. Hatred is is a spirit because hatred is the absence of love. Before we were born again, before we experience the love of God, the spirit of hate is in there. Hatred is a strong man. And out of him, seven abominations come. That's what we just read in in in Proverbs. Now look at the first one. Proverbs 16:5. Everyone proud in heart is an abomination to the Lord. Now remember, he who hates disguises it with his lips uh and lays up deceit within himself. When he speaks, do not believe him. For there are seven abominations in his heart. So the first abomination is revealed to us in Proverbs 16:5. Everyone proud in heart is an abomination to the Lord. Though they join forces, none will go unpunished. I want you to see that key there. Join forces. That's the key because it requires the inbred natural hate that is on every one of us. You know, God has put in in in in all of us a measure of faith. In the same way when we to Adam Adam and Eve took part of of the tree of the knowledge of good and evil I believe that there was a measure of faith I mean a measure of hate that it was important to every soul. So we all have this inherited ability to hate others to hate ourselves. Okay. A a lot of sane rational people that have been in situations where life dependency says you don't know what humans are capable of doing under certain circumstances. You find this in wars. Normal person that would never do anything all of a sudden will do horrible horrendous things. You know it happened in Vietnam. It happens in Iraq. this ability. Well, that's that resident hate that is in all of us. And it says that he joins forces with who? With pride. He says the the the pride the the the person who has pride in his heart is an abomination to God and he joins forces. So that if hate is the root, pride is definitely the tree. They go together like a hand and glove. Pride and hate cannot be separated. Why? Because pride is what we use to mask the hate. Remember how it says that he who has hate covers it up. You see, that's what pride does. You see, if you have a low self-esteem, you either wind up in the gutter or you either wind up very successful. Why? Because that you cannot accept that condition. And so this parish, you will see they are all moved to cover up for that lack there. And it begins with pride. You will find pride in people who are on the street, homeless people. When when Fred and I were dealing with some of that, some of the most proud people are people that have nothing. They have pride. They say, "I have my pride. I'm not going to do this or I'm not going to do that." So these spirits go very, very close together. Pride and hate. and they're the ones that open the door for the rest of the guys to come in. Now, we'll need to and I'm I'm I'm hoping to write I'm going to write uh quite a bit on this. I'm going to do research on each one of these spirits category. I'm going to put it on on the web page how be because pride has more than one manifestation just like love has more than one manifestation. Joy has more than one manifestation just like the fruit of the spirit have many ways of manifesting themsel but these are the root spirits and that's what I want you to see. These are the root spirits and then there's different variations of it and that's what we need to work on so that when we minister to people we're able to identify them quickly and deal with them according to the scriptures that God has given us on how to handle them. But the prouding heart is an abomination to the Lord. Pride comes into the heart, joins with the self-hatred, low self-esteem, and now they join forces to allow these other abominations to come in. Number two, Proverbs 15:8. And this one might surprise you a little bit.

Maybe religious spirits will fall under this category. He says, "The sacrifice," is Proverbs 15:8, "The sacrifice of the wicked is an abomination to the Lord, but the prayer of the upright is his delight." Now, notice that it's called the sacrifice, the sacrifice of the wicked. Now, what is wicked? We just told you wicked has to do with idolatry. wickedness which those wickedness is is is a byproduct of idolatry which is hatred towards God. That means that a person who has not resolved the hate issue deep within us. Cover it up with pride. The pride of life which is what both of these spirits fall under. By the way, there are each uh there are two two of each spirits fall in the category pride of life, loss of the flesh and loss of the eye. The first one, the one with pride has to do obviously with the pride of life. And this one, the sacrifice of the wicked also have to do with the pride of life. I believe that you will find ministers, people who minister and people who serve who have never resolved the problem with hate, okay, are serving God for selfish motives and and it is an abomination to the Lord. You are in the ministry. You're doing work, but the real reason why you're doing it is because you have other motives. Notice that it says there the prayer of the righteous. So it compares prayer and sacrifice meaning that their service. Did you know that there are people and believe me I had contact with many people through the years and people would come in and tell me what they're praying for and sometimes they ask you to join with them. There's actually people that pray for other people to die. There's people that actually praying for other people to lose their job. There are people that are actually praying. We just went and prayed for for a girl tonight that is struggling with with cancer. Uh uh next door the husband came in and told her that that his wife was praying for her to die. This is real. Why would somebody want and pray actually believing that God will answer their their their prayer bad for somebody else? Hate. Hate is the only reason. Why would else would you do it? hate or pride because you're, oh well, they don't deserve this. I don't get it. I pray for my mom. She never recover. She died of cancer. So, why are you any better than my mom? You should die just like my mom died. See, this is one of the manifestations of the spirit. It's called the pride of life. And it says that that is an abomination to the Lord. But yet, the root cause of it is, hey, that mask itself and pride. Oh, I'm so religious. I pray. As a matter of fact, I think I got a scripture here. Don't don't miss your your place here in Proverbs. We're coming back. But in Luke 18 verse 11, 12, and 13, Jesus gives us a a a description of a person who is praying or sacrificing to God in this spirit. Luke 18 112 and 13 says, "The Pharisee stood and he prayed thus with himself." He stood up and he began to pray to himself. He's not saying it out loud. He's hiding it, but he said, "God, I thank you that I'm not like all of these other guys here. I'm not like other men, extortioners, unjust, adulterers, or even that tax collector over there in the back. Oh man, he's really bad. These guys are bad, but he's three times more bad than that. I thank you, Lord. I fast twice a week and I give tithe of everything that I possess. Sound like a pretty faithful guy. He'll be work welcome in every church today, man. He fast and he ties. Everybody wants people like that in their church, right? But guess what? They're praying. My pastor is a crook. That's what they're praying. and this is an extortion and that other guy is on an adulterer and this guy is a tax collector. That's the prayer that they're off
