< Back FACTS AND ACTS Pastor Marcos Marrero Objective: The objective of this teaching is to help believers discern the difference between the responses of the soul and the spirit when faced with God’s promises, and to encourage them to align their faith and actions with the unchanging facts of God’s Word. By understanding this distinction, Christians can grow in faith, avoid the pitfalls of doubt, and respond to God’s promises with confidence and obedience. Synopsis: In Facts and Acts, Pastor Marcos Marrero explores the difference between the soul and the spirit in responding to God’s Word and promises, using Mary’s response to the angel’s announcement in Luke 1 as a model. Mary’s spirit rejoiced in the fact of God’s promise, while her soul magnified the Lord through acts of worship. This contrast highlights that the spirit receives and accepts divine truth as fact, while the soul acts and reacts based on those facts. Pastor Marcos contrasts Mary’s faith-filled acceptance with Zacharias’s doubt, showing how unbelief can hinder the fullness of God’s blessing, even though His purposes ultimately prevail. He stresses that faith in the unchanging Word of God enables believers to rejoice in spiritual facts, regardless of circumstances, while doubt causes the soul to be swayed by natural limitations. The lesson further emphasizes that God’s promises—redemption, salvation, and covenant mercy—are eternal facts. When believers magnify these truths in their souls and act upon them, they align themselves with God’s plan. However, rejecting or doubting these facts leaves one vulnerable to deception and spiritual loss. Pastor Marcos concludes by reminding believers that Jesus is the ultimate fact of salvation—His incarnation, death, resurrection, and promised return are the foundation of Christian faith. These truths demand a response: either to act in faith and obedience, or to ignore them and risk eternal separation from God. The Word of God is forever settled in heaven, and our acts, when rooted in these eternal facts, will never be forgotten. Written teaching: Luke 1:46-47 “And Mary said: ‘My soul magnifies the Lord, and my spirit has rejoiced in God my Savior.’” After receiving the great news that she was going to be the mother of the Son of the Highest, Mary sang a song of worship and adoration to God. Notice how her song begins with her soul and spirit responding to the great news of being chosen by God for this great honor. I want you to notice the difference between her soul and her spirit, and how different her soul and her spirit reacted to the same great news. I believe that we can get great insight here between their interactions. Notice how her soul responded, my soul magnifies, that is an act of her will. While her spirit stated a fact, my spirit has rejoiced in what I was told. So that by nature our souls act and react, while our spirits put the emphasis on the facts as they are revealed to us. Psalm 9:1-2 “I will praise You, O Lord, with my whole heart (spirit and soul); I will tell of all Your marvelous works (facts). I (David’s spirit speaking) will be glad and rejoice in You (a matter of fact); I will sing praise to Your name (David’s soul acting on the facts), O Most High.” It may seem a little difficult at first, but if we consciously try to discern the difference between the spirit and the soul speaking, we can learn a great deal more from the narrative that we are reading. We can do that while reading Scripture; we can also try to discern while we are communing with Jesus in prayer, if it is our spirit who is leading the conversation with Him, or if it is our soul that is doing the talking. The issue here is faith; if our soul’s nature is to respond or act to the facts that it receives, and since our spirits by nature deal with the basics of the facts that are revealed to them, being trained in the art of knowing the one from the other can make all the difference in a time of crises or during the times when the Lord gives to us great spiritual revelation. Luke 1:38 “Then Mary said, ‘Behold the maidservant of the Lord! Let it be to me according to your word.’ And the angel departed from her.” Notice how it was Mary’s spirit who responded to the angel, Let it be to me according to your word, the fact of what was promised to her. Luke 1:37 “For with God nothing will be impossible.” Mary spoke through her spirit the fact that she believed everything that she was told—and accepted it as fact—and as soon as she did that, the angel left, the matter was closed. Notice the difference between Mary’s response to the angel, and the response of Zacharias, the father to be of John the Baptist, when he was given the great news that he would be given a son who will turn many of the children of Israel to the Lord their God: Luke 1:18 “And Zacharias said to the angel, ‘How shall I know this? For I am an old man, and my wife is well advanced in years.’” Zacharias was reacting to the fact of his condition and the age of his wife, instead of reacting to the fact that an angel was giving him a promise from God Himself, the God who cannot lie. His soul naturally responded to the limiting facts that he was surrounded with in the physical realm. Had he been spiritually minded—focused in the promises contained in the Word of God, he would, like Mary, rejoice in the fact that a messenger from God was talking to him, and he would have consented immediately. Luke 1:19 “And the angel answered and said to him, I am Gabriel, who stands in the presence of God, and was sent to speak to you and bring you these glad tidings.’” God’s will was done anyway, for God’s plans cannot be thwarted by a man’s lack of faith, but Zacharias was unable to speak until he named his son John according to the command of the angel Gabriel. Luke 1:20 “But behold, you will be mute and not able to speak until the day these things take place, because you did not believe my words which will be fulfilled in their own time.” It makes me wonder how many times I missed on realizing a promise from God, because I let my soul respond through the prism of the circumstances that surrounded me at that time, instead of letting my spirit rejoice in the fact that the One who was giving me His promise can never lie, and always fulfills what He promises to those who believe Him. We can see the effects of this duality. If what God has promised us is a vital part of our Christian walk, we will receive it in their own time, but because of our lack of faith at the time that the promise was given, our abilities will be hindered until what was promised is realized. The other part is, that if what was promised was not a vital part of our Christian walk, we will forfeit it and will have to do without it, until we learn to trust and rejoice in the fact that a promise from the Word of God deserves to be magnified within our souls, based on the fact that He who promised is faithful, no matter what the circumstances around us dictate. Let us remember that as believers, we are all disciples, and as such, we are always learning how to truly follow Jesus. There is redemption, so we should not let what we failed to receive in the past, keep us from receiving what our Lord has for us in the now. Luke 1:68-69 “Blessed is the Lord God of Israel, for He has visited and redeemed His people, and has raised up a horn of salvation for us in the house of His servant David.” As soon as Zacharias named his son John, according to the word that the angel gave him, he was filled with the Holy Spirit and prophesied about God’s redemption and salvation, which are the facts and the acts of Christianity. Let us take a sober look today at the facts on which our faith is founded, for they will determine how our soul will act and react, when faced with the unrelenting accusations and distortions against the Word of God that those of us who put our trust in it and its promises have to face daily. Luke 1:70 “As He spoke by the mouth of His holy prophets, who have been since the world began.” Do you believe that Adam was created or that man evolved? God’s prophets have been since the world began, and they tell us not only that Adam was created, but how and why he was created, and how he was driven out from Paradise after the fall. If you’ve fallen for the perverting influence of the theory of evolution, you have lost the facts, and have lost the will to act spiritually. The only expectation that you are left with after denying the facts, is to react and be driven by the ever changing winds of conformity to this world’s system. If man evolved, then he is not a fallen creature; if he is not a fallen creature, then he does not need to be redeemed. If man does not need to be redeemed, then Jesus came and died for nothing. Don’t you see the demonic connections? It is all about separating you from the only One who can save you from all your sins. Jesus told us that His Words are Spirit and that they are Truth, based on the fact that He is the Word of God who came in the flesh. If at any time you deny the veracity of the Word of God, you also deny the deity of Jesus and the redemptive power of the blood of Jesus, for they are one and the same—these are the facts that act upon our souls, for either good or bad. Luke 1:72 “To perform the mercy promised to our fathers and to remember His holy covenant.” A covenant is a will, a promise to act on behalf of a fact—that fact being that after the fall of Adam, man was in dire need of God’s mercy, which God promised us that He would bring at His appointed time. Do you believe that Jesus is the Son of God? If you believe that Jesus was just a good man, the son of Joseph, and that there were no angels talking with Mary and the others, and that Mary did not miraculously conceive Him by the power of the Holy Spirit, then you are still in your sins and are lost, that is the devil’s goal for your life. Here is a fact—that once acknowledged—will require immediate action on the part of those who have been deceived by the devil. Luke 1:77 “To give knowledge of salvation to His people by the remission of their sins.” Jesus did not stay a baby in a manger, He did not come into this world so that we could have presents on Christmas day. He grew up into a man, condemned the world of sin, then paid the penalty for all our sins by dying on an old rugged cross. He rose from the dead on the third day, after showing Himself to many, He was taken up to heaven and is now seated at the right hand of God, making intercession for us, that we may come into the enlightening truth of the facts of who He really is and what He came to do. Luke 1:79 “To give light to those who sit in darkness and the shadow of death, to guide our feet into the way of peace.” Here is a fact that should cause all of us to act: Jesus is coming back soon, but this time He is coming to judge all those who failed to receive His free offer of salvation, and to deliver out of this world those of us who have believed in Him, and have trusted in His Word. Acts 1:11 “Who also said, ‘Men of Galilee, why do you stand gazing up into heaven? This same Jesus, who was taken up from you into heaven, will so come in like manner as you saw Him go into heaven.’” We have a clear choice, we can choose to act in response to the fact of the work of salvation that Jesus accomplished on our behalf, or we can ignore the facts and act to fulfill our fleeting selfish desires and be lost forever and ever. That sounds like a no brainer, but it all depends on where you get your facts from. Here is one last fact for this lesson: Psalm 119:89 “Forever, O Lord, Your word is settled in heaven.” The advantage of getting our facts from the Word of God, is that it never changes, and it shall never pass away. Every act of ours that is based in our love and desire for the Word of God to be the foundation for our lives, will never be forgotten either. My soul magnifies the Lord, while my spirit is rejoicing in the fact that He loves me, and that He has redeemed my life from the pit! Behold, He is coming quickly, and every eye shall see Him! - THE EFFECTIVE WORKING WORD | House of Faith Ministries (HoFM)
< Back THE EFFECTIVE WORKING WORD Pastor Marcos Marrero Objective: The objective of The Effective Working Word is to reveal how the Word of God powerfully and continually works in the life of every believer, bringing about complete deliverance—spirit, soul, and body. Through biblical teaching, the message aims to show that true freedom from sin is only possible by receiving the Word of God as divine truth, not as the word of men, and allowing it to transform us through salvation, sanctification, and belief in the truth. Synopsis: In this teaching, Pastor Marcos Marrero explores the depth of 1 Thessalonians 2:13, emphasizing that the Word of God is not merely human speech but the very power of God at work in believers. He explains that the Word brings about deliverance in three stages: immediate deliverance at the moment of salvation, continuous deliverance throughout life as our souls are transformed, and ultimate deliverance at the resurrection when our bodies are made new. Pastor Marcos details how our spirit is instantly regenerated when we are born again, never to be separated from God again. Yet, our soul remains in an ongoing battle between fleshly desires and the influence of the Spirit, requiring constant nourishment from the Word of God. This process—described as crucifying the flesh—is often painful but necessary for spiritual growth and holiness. The teaching also warns that believers will face opposition and persecution when the Word effectively works in them, as the world resists those who refuse to conform to its system. Still, this opposition confirms God’s transforming work. Pastor Marcos outlines a threefold approach—repentance, renouncement, and restoration—as the believer’s response to God’s Word, leading to sanctification and renewal of the soul. Ultimately, The Effective Working Word highlights that only by fully welcoming the Word of God as truth can believers experience real deliverance, holiness, and strength to withstand the hostility of the world. It is the Word that effectively works in those who believe, shaping them into the likeness of Christ until the day of full redemption. Written teaching: 1 Thessalonians 2:13 “For this reason we also thank God without ceasing, because when you received the word of God which you heard from us, you welcomed it not as the word of men, but as it is in truth, the word of God, which also effectively works in you who believe.” The Word of God has many functions, it created everything, sustains everything. But in a more personal level, the Word of God effectively works deliverance in those who believe in it. What is deliverance? Deliverance has to do with freedom. Since sin enslaves men, deliverance from sin is the act of being made free. John 8:32 “And you shall know the truth, and the truth shall make you free.” Since the Word of God is the embodiment of all Truth, those who believe in the truth of the Word of God are delivered from all their sins. Deliverance from sin follows three stages; we are immediately delivered, we are continuously being delivered, and we will be delivered. The reason the work of deliverance follows three stages is because we are being delivered completely, spirit, soul, and body. Let’s take a look at the spiritual aspect first. Our spirit can never die, for the spirit that gives us life originated from God, and like God it is eternal. In our mortal human nature we are considered dead in trespasses and sin, but death when referring to the spirit speaks of separation from God. When a person dies in their sins their spirit becomes separated from God for ever, that is what is called eternal damnation. When a person becomes born again, or born of the Spirit, their spirit is immediately regenerated and will never again be separated from God. Our spirit is delivered instantly the minute that we accept the Word of Truth. When we die, instantly our spirit would rise up to God because of His salvation. 2 Corinthians 5:8 “We are confident, yes, well pleased rather to be absent from the body and to be present with the Lord.” The only thing that our spirit needs after we become born again is to feed in the truth of the Word of God. For a weak spirit, one who is not being nourished by the Word of God, is not strong enough to influence our souls to turn its back on its sinful ways. We need to realize that our spirits are either dead, that is separated from God, or alive in Christ through the born-again experience, there is no in between for the spirit man within each person. Not so for our souls, for they are always going back and forth depending on which spirit is driving them. When our spirit is inspired by the Word of God it motivates us to do good works. When we neglect spiritual nourishment, our soul is moved by the sensuality of this world, through the spirits of the lust of the flesh, the lust of the eyes, and the pride of life, to do sinful things. That is why Paul is commending the Thessalonians for receiving the Word of God and is telling them this: Which also effectively works in you who believe. By using the words 'effectively works in you', Paul indicates that the deliverance of our souls is always a work in progress. Galatians 5:24-25 “And those who are Christ’s have crucified the flesh with its passions and desires. If we live in the Spirit, let us also walk in the Spirit.” If we are born again, we live in the Spirit of God who made our spirit alive in Christ. So, why not also walk after the Spirit of Truth that can also deliver our souls from the deadness of this world system? Our physical bodies will not be delivered until the day when the resurrection of the dead takes place. Even if we are born again, our bodies will continue to decline and decay with the passing of time, for the Word of God declares that: Hebrews 9:27 “And as it is appointed for men to die once, but after this the judgment.” So, that in our everyday lives, the ministry of deliverance is the process of working out of our souls its dependency to the desires of the flesh. That is why the crucifixion metaphor is used, those who are Christ’s have crucified the flesh with its passions and desires. Since crucifixion implies a slow painful death, that is what the separation from the desires of this world entails, a slow painful death. Matthew 26:38 “Then He said to them, ‘My soul is exceedingly sorrowful, even to death. Stay here and watch with Me.’” The hardest thing for us humans to accomplish is the death of self. Our self life is who we are and how we see ourselves. But when how we see ourselves and who we are does not align with the Word of God, there is no other choice, our soul has to die to self or lose its reward. The effective working Word of God is the only power that can bring about such transformation in us. This is what Paul told the Thessalonians, 'When you received the word of God which you heard from us, you welcomed it not as the word of men, but as it is in truth, the word of God'. We cannot die to our self-life until we realize that our lives are not our own, for they belong to God. Reason dictates that if we belong to God, our lives should be modeled after the Word of God. As we welcome the dictates of the Word of God for what our lives should be, that is we receive them as if directly from the mouth of God, that’s when the effectively works part sets everything in motion within us. 1 Thessalonians 2:14 “For you, brethren, became imitators of the churches of God which are in Judea in Christ Jesus. For you also suffered the same things from your own countrymen, just as they did from the Judeans.” Immediately the world around them began to persecute them, just as the churches that they had modeled themselves after were persecuted. The world will always persecute those who desire to fulfill the Word of God in their lives. Now why is that? Very simple, those whose desire is for the Word of God, which is Truth, cannot be lead stray by the deception of this world system. If you don’t move with the flow of the world you become an impediment to the flow of the world. John 15:18-19 “If the world hates you, you know that it hated Me before it hated you. If you were of the world, the world would love its own. Yet because you are not of the world, but I chose you out of the world, therefore the world hates you.” Hatred from the world means that the Word of God is effectively working in us the transformation that God wants to accomplish in us who believe. 2 Thessalonians 2:13 “But we are bound to give thanks to God always for you, brethren beloved by the Lord, because God from the beginning chose you for salvation (deliverance) through sanctification by the Spirit and belief in the truth.” Notice how the process begins with salvation, then sanctification by the Spirit, and all comes together by belief in the truth. Would you agree that the world is waging war against the Word of God? Here in the United States if a student takes his Bible into a public school building it would cause so much trauma to the local ACLU chapter that you would think that the end of the world had arrived. Just a lonely cross standing on a faraway hill causes enough distress to those who are under the influence of this world system, that they will not rest until they find a way to remove it. You cannot have such a disproportionate reaction to small things like those, unless it is because it offends the spirits of intolerance that are behind those who feel threaten by the presence of something that they know can deliver them from the power of those demonic influences. Think of it, that was us before we got saved, being moved by the desires of our flesh to lust after the things of this world, and to hate those who take a stand for the principles of life that are taught in the Word of God. And now as believers, are we going to tolerate those same demonic entities just so that we can be part of this world system? Of course not! But remember that deliverance from them requires us to fully commit our lives to the true teachings of the Word of God. Following with this threefold principle of salvation, sanctification and belief in the truth, we can take a threefold approach as well in our stance against these demonic entities. I call it repentance, renouncement and restoration. We repent before God for all of our sins, He forgives us and cleanses us from all of our sins. 1 John 1:9 “If we confess our sins, He is faithful and just to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness.” We renounce the world and the things which are in the world. 1 John 2:15 “Do not love the world or the things in the world. If anyone loves the world, the love of the Father is not in him.” Remember, we know that His Word is effectively working in us when the world hates us. And as we truly repent of our sins and renounce this world system, then the Lord takes it upon Himself to restore our souls to the divine setting that He originally created us to fulfill. 1 Thessalonians 3:13 “So that He may establish your hearts (souls– self-life) blameless in holiness before our God and Father at the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ with all His saints.” Previous Next
- IT IS THE ANOINTING OIL THAT BREAKS THE YOKE | House of Faith Ministries (HoFM)
< Back IT IS THE ANOINTING OIL THAT BREAKS THE YOKE Pastor Marcos Marrero Objective: To teach believers the biblical power and mystery of the anointing oil, showing how it breaks spiritual yokes, provides divine protection, and establishes God’s peace and presence over individuals, families, properties, and even cities. The lesson aims to equip Christians with understanding and practical applications of anointing oil as a tool for deliverance, healing, and sanctification in their walk with God. Synopsis: In It Is the Anointing Oil That Breaks the Yoke, Pastor Marcos Marrero explores the deep spiritual significance of anointing with oil as revealed in Scripture. From Zechariah’s vision of Jerusalem surrounded by God’s fiery protection to Isaiah’s promise that the yoke of oppression is destroyed because of the anointing, Pastor Marcos explains how the oil symbolizes the presence and power of the Holy Spirit. He emphasizes that anointing oil is not merely symbolic, but a spiritual covering that demons recognize and fear. When believers walk in the anointing of Christ, evil spirits cannot distinguish between them and Christ Himself. This divine covering serves as both protection and empowerment, reminding believers of their authority in Christ. The lesson highlights the various applications of anointing oil: for peace over cities and communities, for protection over homes and properties, and for consecration of the believer’s own body as God’s dwelling place. Pastor Marcos encourages practical use, such as anointing city gates, property lines, and homes, as visible declarations of God’s peace and presence. Anointed oil, once consecrated, becomes a holy tool for deliverance, healing, and preservation until the day of redemption. Just as God anointed Jesus of Nazareth with the Holy Spirit and power to heal the oppressed, He also anoints His people in Christ to bring freedom, healing, and light into the world. Ultimately, the teaching points believers to rejoice not in the authority itself, but in the deeper truth that their names are written in heaven and that the Anointed One dwells within them. Written teaching: Zechariah 2:5 “For I, says the Lord, will be a wall of fire all around her, and I will be the glory in her midst.” The ministry of anointing with oil is one of the most mysterious things that we can find in the Bible, yet it is one of the most powerful. The anointing oil can be applied to kings, to priests, to sacraments, to places, and as we see in our opening text, to cities as well. In the case of Jerusalem, we cannot see it with our carnal eyes, but God has anointed that city and if we could look through the eyes of the Spirit, we would see the anointing that covers Jerusalem as a wall of fire that surrounds her and covers her with God’s mighty protection. Isaiah 10:27 “It shall come to pass in that day that his burden will be taken away from your shoulder, and his yoke from your neck, and the yoke will be destroyed because of the anointing oil.” But more important of all, as far as we humans are concern, the anointing with oil has the power to deliver us from the burden of transgression and the yoke of slavery to sin. James 5:14-15 “Is anyone among you sick? Let him call for the elders of the church, and let them pray over him, anointing him with oil in the name of the Lord. And the prayer of faith will save the sick, and the Lord will raise him up. And if he has committed sins, he will be forgiven.” What is the mystery of the anointing with oil besides what might be obvious to us? I spent many a times praying for people who were in need of deliverance from demonic strongholds, and one of the many things that I learned in my dealings with those oppressive demonic entities, was how demons perceive humanity and our physical realm from their underworld perspective, we need to remember that they live in a totally different dimension than we do. I believe that when demons look at us humans what they mainly see is an aura around us that may differ in intensity as well as in color, and that is how they perceive the human condition. Since we humans are two thirds spirit and one third human, for we are made of spirit, soul, and body, what demons mainly see when they look at us, is our own spiritual orb that surround us. So that if we are walking under Christ’s anointing, and since Christ means Anointed One, when a demon looks at us under the anointing, they cannot tell whether it is us or Jesus Christ who they are facing. Luke 10:19-20 “Behold, I give you the authority to trample on serpents and scorpions (demonic entities), and over all the power of the enemy, and nothing shall by any means hurt you. Nevertheless do not rejoice in this, that the spirits are subject to you, but rather rejoice because your names are written in Heaven.” I believe that what Jesus is teaching us in Luke 10 is that as born-again believers, born again means to be born of the Spirit of God, there is an aura around us that all spirits recognize and that they must submit to. In other words, Jesus is telling us not to rejoice in the fact that we have power over the demonic spirits, but rather, that we rejoice in the anointing that is over us and that covers us, because of our position in the spiritual realm due to the Anointed One dwelling in us through His Spirit. Psalm 105:15 “Saying, ‘Do not touch My anointed ones, and do My prophets no harm.’” So that there is a de-facto anointing that personally covers all born again believers and that all demonic entities must recognize. But the ministry of the anointing with oil varies greatly and the greater our understanding of how it works the more powerful and effective that we can become in our ministries, and the better that we can protect ourselves, our families, and our properties from the evil one. Let us take a look at a few of the many applications of the anointing with oil. Let us begin with the anointing for peace. Jeremiah 29:7 “And seek the peace of the city where I have caused you to be carried away captive, and pray to the Lord for it; for in its peace you will have peace.” One thing that I do recommend for churches to do, and individual believers as well, is to take oil and anoint the places where your city begins and ends, what the Bible calls the city gates or entrances. The way that we did it in the past is to go east and west, and north and south of the city, and pour anointing oil on the entrances of our city and pray for God’s anointing of peace to dwell in that city where we live. Then we proceed to anoint our property lines, by pouring anointing oil all around the perimeter of what we own or rent, the place where we live, and we pray for God’s protection over it and ask for His peace to abide there as well. Why is that important? Romans 8:21 “Because the creation itself also will be delivered from the bondage of corruption into the glorious liberty of the children of God.” Since we, the children of God, are walking under the liberating covering of God’s anointing that preserves us from the corruption of this world, we can proclaim liberty over the part of the creation that we do occupy. How does that work, spiritually speaking? 1 Peter 5:8 “Be sober, be vigilant; because your adversary the devil walks (roams) about like a roaring lion, seeking whom he may devour.” Since wicked spirits tune in to areas that emanate gloominess and darkness, where spiritual disorder and chaos reigns, and since they roam about looking for innocent victims that they can lure into their traps without repercussions, it is important for the believers that inhabit those areas to anoint with oil those same areas that they occupy. Spirits can instantly discern the places where believers have prayed for God’s peace to reign, and if they anointed the places where they prayed with oil, that anointing oil in the spiritual realm, shines like a mighty fire from God that warns those malevolent sprits to watch out, for there is swift retribution coming their way if they trespass over the anointing that covers those areas that believers have placed under their anointing. Is the same for our homes, where we have anointed our boundaries with anointing oil, for it will be a wall of fire all around her, and I will be the glory in her midst. We are also to anoint our home with oil both inside and out, now why do we need to do that? Deuteronomy 23:14 “For the Lord your God walks in the midst of your camp, to deliver you and give your enemies over to you; therefore your camp shall be holy, that He may see no unclean thing among you, and turn away from you.” Just like the anointing oil shines in the spiritual realm to drive away predators, it also serves as a welcome sign for God’s holy angels that also move around the earth to do God’s bidding. But even more precious than that, God takes pleasure in walking is our midst during our times of repose, and a home or a room where the anointing oil has been placed indicates to our Lord that this place has been reserved for His presence, and that He is always welcome there. And then we are also to anoint ourselves personally as a sign of gratitude before the Lord, to show not only to ourselves, but to show others as well, and to show God Himself, that we will always belong to Him, our entire person, spirit soul and body are His habitation. Isaiah 65:16 “So that he who blesses himself in the earth shall bless himself in the God of truth; and he who swears in the earth shall swear by the God of truth; because the former troubles are forgotten, and because they are hidden from My eyes.” What is it in us that is hidden from God’s eyes? And the yoke will be destroyed because of the anointing oil. The true anointing, for that is what we bless ourselves with while here in the earth, covers all of our infirmities and sins, the burden of sin and the yoke of oppression that is still in our mortal flesh and are driven away by the anointing oil that we bless ourselves with. Mark 6:13 “And they cast out many demons, and anointed with oil many who were sick, and healed them.” The anointing oil preserves us until the day of redemption. Acts 10:38 “How God anointed Jesus of Nazareth with the Holy Spirit and with power, who went about doing good and healing all who were oppressed by the devil, for God was with Him.” Jesus the Anointed One walked about doing good and searching for those who were oppressed by the devil, and then He set them all free, for God was with Him. 2 Corinthians 1:21 “Now He who establishes us with you in Christ and has anointed us is God.” The same God that anointed Jesus of Nazareth with the Holy Spirit and with power to drive out all the workers of iniquity, is the same God that has anointed us in Jesus Christ His anointed One in order for us to drive out all the workers of iniquity in our sphere of influence as well. And it is through the power of His anointing oil that the yoke will be destroyed. Pray as to what type of oil the Lord wants you to use, I usually get extra virgin olive oil which I can buy in the market and is not too expensive for me, but you can use whatever is available to you and that you believe it is acceptable before God. Get the oil, bring it before the Lord and ask Him to bless it, after it is blessed do not use that consecrated oil for nothing else but for anointing purposes. Previous Next
- THE POWER OF GOD | House of Faith Ministries (HoFM)
< Back THE POWER OF GOD Pastor Marcos Marrero Objective: The objective of this teaching is to reveal how the true power of God operates through the message of the cross, under the influence of divine wisdom and meekness. It aims to help believers understand that God’s power is not given for destruction or domination, but for liberation, deliverance, and the salvation of humankind. By filtering power through the cross, Christians can exercise authority rightly—against spiritual forces of darkness and not against flesh and blood—so that God’s mercy and truth are revealed to the world. Synopsis: In The Power of God, Pastor Marcos contrasts the world’s understanding of wisdom and power with God’s. While human rulers often wield authority selfishly and foolishly, God demonstrates that true power is always controlled by wisdom and guided by mercy. Jesus’ rebuke of the disciples when they wished to call down fire on their enemies illustrates that divine power is never for destruction but for salvation. The teaching highlights that worldly wisdom is unstable and dangerous because it lacks the safeguard of meekness. In contrast, heavenly wisdom operates with humility, ensuring that God’s power is never abused. The cross is revealed as the mechanism that activates and governs God’s power within believers—what appears to the carnal mind as weakness is, in reality, the source of divine strength and deliverance. Pastor Marcos explains that Psalm 149, when viewed through the cross, calls Christians not to wage war against people, but against spiritual rulers of darkness. The true enemy is not humanity, but the kingdom of darkness that manipulates people into conflict and destruction. Thus, the church’s mission is to liberate, not oppress, by exercising spiritual authority through prayer, the Word of God, and Christlike mercy. The believer’s call is to let every motive pass through the cross, where selfish desires die and God resurrects only what aligns with His purpose. This inward deliverance produces maturity, which in turn empowers communal intercession and revival. As Christians live in the reality of “Christ in you, the hope of glory” (Col. 1:27), the power of God is revealed—not as worldly domination, but as the liberating force of truth, mercy, and resurrection life that transforms communities and defeats the kingdom of darkness. Written teaching: 1 Corinthians 1:18 “For the message of the cross is foolishness to those who are perishing, but to us who are being saved it is the power of God.” There are two things in life that affect all humans: Wisdom and Power. If we define Power as ruling authority, we are all under the power of authorities that rule over us, no matter what nation we live in. If you are alive somewhere in this world, you are living under somebody’s law/rule. And if we define Wisdom as the ability of those who have power to rule over us, to do it wisely and for the betterment of those over whom they govern, then, there are a lot of foolish people in power. It has been my experience for most of my adult life that those who have power to rule over my actions are always more interested in meeting their own needs instead of mine. Since God is the Almighty, and all wisdom and power originate from Him, it behooves us to understand how the power of an Almighty God is always under the control of His wisdom. How many times do we as humans have wished that God would do something to some fool out there that is out and about doing harm to others through the power that they posses over them? Luke 9:54 “And when His disciples James and John saw this, they said, ‘Lord, do You want us to command fire to come down from heaven and consume them, just as Elijah did?’” If we ever wished that, I guess we were not the first. But we can learn a lot about God’s wisdom from the answer that Jesus gave His disciples. Luke 9:55 “But He turned and rebuked them, and said, ‘You do not know what manner of spirit (influence) you are of (or under). For the Son of Man did not come to destroy men’s lives but to save them.’ And they went to another village.” Here we learn that wisdom is a spirit or an influence, and that foolishness is a spiritual influence as well that can bring much harm. We also learn that the wisdom of God saves men’s life from destruction, and that power in the wrong hands can bring about the destruction of men through the spirit of foolishness working through them. James 3:13 “Who is wise and understanding among you? Let him show by good conduct that his works (actions) are done in the meekness of wisdom.” So that the wisdom that comes from above, the wisdom that controls the power that has been given to those of us who believe, has a safety that overrides the trigger, this safety is called meekness, and it assures us that the power given to us will not be abused. James 3:15 “This wisdom (foolishness, also known as earthly wisdom) does not descend from above, but is earthly, sensual, demonic.” The so call wisdom of this world, has no safety on its trigger, for it is activated by the human senses, and it goes off when you least expect it. 1 Corinthians 1:20 “Where is the wise? Where is the scribe? Where is the disputer of this age? Has not God made foolish the wisdom of this world? Now we understand why deliverance plays such a big role in the ability of Christians to exercise God’s power here on the earth. Worldly Christians whose nature is governed by the sentiments of their flesh, can cause a lot of harm to those whom God is trying to save. Were not the same Samaritans that rejected Jesus at first, that had some disciples wanting to destroy them, that later received the Gospel with joy when Phillip preached to them about the resurrected Christ? Which brings us back to the mechanism that controls the trigger of the power of God that has been vested on those of us who believe: 1 Corinthians 1:18 “For the message of the cross is foolishness to those who are perishing, but to us who are being saved it is the power of God.” So that the power of God that has been vested on those of us who believe, has to be activated through the cross, something that seems foolish to our carnal mind, for in the cross we see nothing but weakness and death. Let us ask one very basic question first: What kind of power from God has been vested on those of us who believe? Psalm 149:6-9 “Let the high praises of God be in their mouth, and a two-edged sword in their hand, to execute vengeance on the nations, and punishments on the peoples; to bind their kings with chains, and their nobles with fetters of iron; to execute on them the written judgment—this honor have all His saints. Praise the Lord!” Now if we look at Psalm 149 from the earthly wisdom that God calls foolishness, the church would be an aggressive entity declaring war on the unbelieving nations and warring against them in order to overcome them and to enforce our rule over them. To achieve that we would have to kill the people who oppose our rule, and destroy the nations that do not comply with our Christian doctrine, if that was the church’s doctrine. But if we look at Psalm 149 through the filter of the cross, we find what Jesus taught us, and which is the real doctrine of the church: For the Son of Man did not come to destroy men’s lives but to save them. How do we rightly judge the power of God that has been vested on us through the filter of the cross? Ephesians 6:12 “For we do not wrestle against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this age, against spiritual hosts (armies) of wickedness in the heavenly places.” The cross opens our eyes to the spiritual reality that our power from God is not to be used against humankind, but rather, against the spiritual wickedness that oppresses humankind. We are to be liberators, not oppressors like them. How does the church implement the power of God that it has been endowed with, for the liberation of humankind? First we identify the enemy; who are the nations, who are the peoples, and who are their kings and who are their nobles, that we are to subdue in accordance with Psalm 149? The kingdom of darkness has a structure, just like the world has a structure wherein the nations fit together. The nations in the world have armies and police units to enforce the rules that empower their rulers over the peoples they govern, it is the same in the kingdom of darkness. It is against the kingdom of darkness that all Christians are called to enforce mastery over, to defeat their nations, and to inflict punishment in their demonic populace, and to do so by capturing their leaders and their nobles and binding them with fetters of iron: that is, to execute on them the written judgment, God’s Word! In summary, we have been empowered by God to fight against a spiritual army of wickedness that resides in the heavenly places, an invisible realm that requires of us to have spiritual discernment. The rulers of this demonic army hide in the darkness of man’s ignorance of their existence, and continuously promote hatred and discord between the human race, so that we are always fighting and blaming one another for the wrong that is all around us, unawares that all the chaos and mayhem is always the result of demonic instigations. John 8:32 “And you shall know the truth, and the and the truth shall make you free.” Truth is enlightenment, if I know that my human adversaries are not my real enemies, then the power of God is activated within me in order for me to defeat the real enemy, which is the spiritual stronghold that rules over my human enemies and causes them to contend against me. So that now I am not just waging war against spiritual forces for the sake of overcoming them, by I see a loftier goal, the liberation of my human comrades who unknowingly have become a weapon of our real enemy, the devil, who manipulates them from the kingdom of darkness. How do I do that? By following and executing God’s written judgments. Luke 6:27-28 “But I say to you who hear: Love your (human) enemies, do good to those who hate you, bless those who curse you, and pray for those who spitefully use you.” And here is where the cross comes in: Luke 6:36 “Therefore be merciful, just as your Father also is merciful.” When the mercy that God revealed on the cross towards us humans is our motive, the safety is removed from the trigger of God’s power, for He knows that our aim now is to liberate humanity and not to conquer them. 1 Corinthians 1:23 “But we preach Christ crucified…” The two-edge sword of God’s Word is to be applied both ways, first personally, and then within the Christian community of saints, the local church, that aims to bring deliverance into their areas of influence. Nothing that we ever do as believers, spiritually or in everyday life, can ever be accepted by God except that it dies first on the cross, for its death on the cross of Christ will reveal the true motive behind it; and if the motive for our actions is God’s motive, then it will be resurrected by God and used as a lethal weapon that utterly annihilates the enemy. Colossians 2:15 “Having disarmed principalities and powers, He (Jesus) made a public spectacle of them, triumphing over them in it (the cross).” So that true deliverance begins within the motives and intents of our hearts, and as we open our hearts to the introspection of God’s Word, Jesus faithfully takes to the cross all our selfishness and foolish desires, and He nails them there for all to see. But it is there, as our earthly desires languish on the painful and slow death of the cross, that our spiritual eyes are opened to the reality of life, and our priorities begin to change. All of the sudden this world begins to lose its luster and those things that seemed so real to us at one time in life, now look more like refuse and we wonder what in the world it was that ever attracted us to them. It is when a community of saints reach that point of maturity in their personal lives that communal intercession begins to take shape. As our Lord begins to move in them and through them as a single body of believers that begins to shed light upon the darkness that engulfs their community there revival begins to take place and the scales fall from the eyes of those who were walking in darkness as they are exposed to the enlightenment of the power of God, fulfilling our last Scripture. Colossians 1:27 “To them God willed to make known what are the riches of the glory of this mystery among the Gentiles: which is Christ in you, the hope of glory.” Previous Next
- THE SECRET THINGS JUDGMENT | House of Faith Ministries (HoFM)
< Back THE SECRET THINGS JUDGMENT Pastor Marcos Marrero Objective: The objective of this teaching is to help believers understand the significance of God’s coming judgment, particularly the “judgment seat of Christ,” where hidden and secret things of the heart will be revealed. Pastor Marcos emphasizes how these concealed areas, often strongholds in our souls, can hinder spiritual fruit in our lives. The teaching aims to encourage believers to confront and overcome these hidden hindrances now—through the Word of God and the work of the Holy Spirit—so that they may live fruitful, Spirit-led lives, glorify Christ, and receive eternal rewards. Synopsis: The Secret Things Judgment explores the biblical truth that every work, including secret things, will one day be brought to judgment by God (Ecclesiastes 12:14). Pastor Marcos contrasts two judgments revealed in Scripture: the judgment seat of Christ, where believers are tested and rewarded, and the great white throne judgment, reserved for unbelievers. He explains that while salvation cannot be lost, believers will give account for their works—whether they were done in the flesh or through the Spirit. Drawing from 1 Corinthians 3, Pastor Marcos teaches that works rooted in selfish ambition or natural strength will burn like wood, hay, and straw, but works produced by the Spirit will endure like gold, silver, and precious stones. The fruit of the Spirit (Galatians 5:22–23) stands as the evidence of lasting works. However, “secret things”—unexposed strongholds within the soul—can hinder this fruit. The lesson provides practical self-examination, showing how to identify and confront hindrances to love, joy, peace, and other fruits of the Spirit. The Word of God, described as both a fire and a hammer (Jeremiah 23:29), is presented as the tool to break down these hidden barriers and purify the believer. Pastor Marcos stresses that believers need not wait until the Day of Judgment to be purified; they can allow the Spirit and the Word to refine them now. Ultimately, the teaching calls believers to embrace God’s love, demolish hidden strongholds, and live Spirit-filled lives that produce eternal fruit. Pastor Marcos concludes with the joy of serving Christ selflessly, knowing that even one act of obedience leading a soul back to God brings immeasurable delight to the Lord. Written teaching: Ecclesiastes 12:14 “For God will bring every work into judgment, including every secret thing, whether good or evil.” In this lesson on deliverance we are going to deal with a very interesting subject, the judgment of works. Notice how king Solomon puts the emphasis on the secret things and how they relate to the Day of judgment. So that we are all on the same page, let me first outline the perimeter of what we are talking about in this lesson. 2 Corinthians 5:10 “For we must all appear before the judgment seat of Christ, that each one may receive the things done in the body, according to what he has done, whether good or bad.” Paul sheds a great amount of light into what king Solomon was teaching. For in the New Testament we learn that there are two judgments, the final or general judgment, and what Paul calls the judgment seat of Christ. If you die in Christ, and by that I mean that you are saved and when you die you go straight to heaven, as it is written: 2 Corinthians 5:8 “...To be absent from the body, and to be present with the Lord.” Then you must appear before the judgment seat of Christ, which is not a judgment of damnation but of rewards or the lack of them. When an unbeliever dies, he goes straight to Hades, which is a kind of an un-finalized hell, for the real hell is the burning lake of fire. Those who are in Hades will not be thrown into the lake of fire until after they face the final judgment, called the great white throne judgment. Which will not take place for at least another thousand years. Revelation 20:11-12 “Then I saw a great white throne and Him who sat on it, from whose face the earth and the heaven fled away. And there was no place for them. And I saw the dead, small and great, standing before God, and books were opened. And another book was opened, which is the Book of Life. And the dead were judged according to their works, by the things which were written in the books.” The judgment that we are dealing with in this lesson is the judgment of the believers, for that is to whom I am writing this lesson for. So that if you are a believer you need to know how these secret things that will be revealed at the judgment seat of Christ after we die, can be dealt with in the here and now before we die, but first we need to know what they are and how they affect us. If you are not a believer yet, you can become one right now by simply repenting of all your sins and confessing before Jesus that you are a sinner and that you want Him to forgive you of all your sins, and if you truly mean it with your heart, Jesus will forgive you immediately and this lesson will apply to you as well. Now, that was simple! Now that the perimeters are established let us deal with the judgment of the believers. Why is there a judgment seat of Christ for us who believe? 1 Corinthians 3:10-15 “...But let each one take heed how he builds on it. For no other foundation can anyone lay than that which is laid, which is Jesus Christ. Now if anyone builds on this foundation with gold, silver, precious stones, wood, hay, straw, each one’s work will become clear; for the Day (of the judgment seat of Christ) will declare it, because it will be revealed by fire; and the fire will test each one’s work, of what sort it is. If anyone’s work which he has built on it endures, he will receive a reward. If anyone’s work is burned, he will suffer loss (lack of reward); but he himself will be saved, yet so as through fire.” Paul lays it out very clearly, since our salvation is a gift from God, and since the gifts of God are irrevocable: Romans 11:29, we cannot lose our salvation. However we have the privilege to minister to others the free salvation that our Lord offers to all who believe, and as fellow ministers of the Gospel of Jesus Christ we become partakers of the rewards of serving Jesus Christ. Romans 8:16-17 “The Spirit Himself bears witness with our spirit that we are children of God, and if children, then heirs—heirs of God and joint heirs with Christ, if indeed we suffer with Him, that we may also be glorified together.” From the time we got saved and for all the things we built our lives around on, we will have to give an account to God. If we live for our own selfish interests after we get saved, those things which we have accomplished will not survive the fire of the judgment Day anymore than wood, hay, or straw, can survive a raging fire storm. However, if we build our lives after we get saved around those things which are eternal, they, like gold, silver, and precious stones, will survive the fire of the Day of judgment and we will get a reward for them. How do I know which one of my deeds will survive the fire and which ones will not? Nothing that we do that flows out of our natural strength, our flesh, will ever survive the raging fire of the Day of judgment, as it is written: Romans 7:18 “For I know that in me (that is, in my flesh) nothing good dwells; for to will is present with me, but how to perform what is good I do not find.” The only thing that will survive the fire of judgment is spiritual fruit, for the Spirit of the Lord is a consuming fire that will not consume Himself or His own fruit, as it was revealed to Moses at the burning bush. Galatians 5:22-23 “But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, longsuffering, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, self-control. Against such there is no law (no law means no judgment).” That is what Paul meant when he said that in his flesh nothing good dwelled, he implied that only that which proceeded from the Spirit of God that was in him, and that saved him, is what counted. Galatians 5:25 “If we live in the Spirit, let us also walk in the Spirit.” Now what about the secret things, what does it mean by secret things? The production of spiritual fruit in us and through us is hindered by those secret things in us that have not yet been exposed to the light of God’s judgment. What are these secret things? They are strongholds within our souls that are yet to be broken down by the Spirit of God, we may be aware of them or we may not, but until they are removed from us, those areas of our lives to which they are connected will not produce sufficient spiritual fruit, because of their hindrance. How can we know if there is a spiritual stronghold within us? Probably one of the easiest ways to know if there is a secret or hidden thing in our souls that is keeping us from producing spiritual fruit is to see which spiritual fruit in us its hindering. For example, let’s start with the first spiritual fruit, the fruit of love, and by asking these questions we will know if we have a stronghold that hinders the way that we are supposed to love: Is my love towards God hindered in any way? Do I love and accept myself the way that God does? Do I love others with the same intensity that I love my self? You’ll be surprised to know how many people have difficulties relating to God from a love perspective. And if we can truly love God, then how can we truly love ourselves, and if we have trouble loving and accepting ourselves, how can we be expected to love others and accept them as they are, for that is how God accepts us, as we are. If my ability to fully and completely love God, my self, and others is blocked, how do I remedy it? John 13:34 “A new commandment I give to you, that you love one another; as I have loved you, that you also love one another.” The Word of God reveals the intensity with which God loves us, as well as the perfection and steadfastness of His love for us. If you do not know God’s love for you is it because you do not know His Word. Jeremiah 23:29 “Is not My word like a fire? Says the Lord, and like a hammer that breaks the rock in pieces?” The Word of God is not only the hammer that breaks down the hidden strongholds within us, but is also the fire of judgment that cleanses and purifies us while in the here and now. If you have difficulties loving yourself or others, study the love of God revealed to us in His Word, accept it personally, and let it burn away deep within your soul the stains that soiled your soul when the love of others let you down. As it is written: Hebrews 13:5 “...For He Himself has said, ‘I will never leave you nor forsake you.’” Hebrews 12:29 “For our God is a consuming fire.” Jeremiah 31:3 “The Lord has appeared of old to me, saying: Yes, I have loved you with an everlasting love; therefore with lovingkindness I have drawn you.” We can do the same with the rest of the fruit of the Spirit, if you lack joy, peace, longsuffering, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, self-control, read how in the Word of God they all have been made available to us freely, but you have to swing the hammer and light the fire. We need to understand that before we enter into the joy of our Lord all these hindrances are going to be demolish at the judgment seat of Christ. But we do not need to wait until then, we can do it now, so that we are able to serve our King and Savior without hesitation or limitations. Yes, there will be a reward, but it's not the reward that really motivates me, I can just picture the joy in my Lord’s face when in a selfless act one of my actions causes one of His lost children to return home to Him. Oh, what a privilege it is to serve the One who loves me so much! Hate, fear, doubt, unbelief, are all the result of us not understanding the fullness of God’s love for us, why don’t you start there, in God’s love, take whatever hate remains in your soul and break it to pieces with the hammer of God’s Word, then set it on fire and let the wind of the Spirit of God remove it from you as far as the east is from the west. James 4:8 “Draw near to God and He will draw near to you. Cleanse your hands, you sinners; and purify your hearts, you double-minded. The cure for double-mindedness is the surety of the promises that are found in the Word of God. Remember that the salvation of others may depend in you being able to break down some of the strongholds that keep you tied down today, if you can or won’t do it for yourself, will you do it for them? James 5:19-20 “Brethren, if anyone among you wanders from the truth, and someone turns him back, let him know that he who turns a sinner from the error of his way will save a soul from death and cover a multitude of sins.” Previous Next
- ALTAR IN THE MIDST, PILLAR ON THE BORDER | House of Faith Ministries (HoFM)
< Back ALTAR IN THE MIDST, PILLAR ON THE BORDER Pastor Marcos Marrero Objective: To reveal the prophetic and spiritual significance of Isaiah’s vision of an altar in Egypt and a pillar on its border, connecting it to the end-time alignment of Egypt, Assyria, and Israel. The teaching draws a parallel between the physical nations and the inner life of every believer—spirit, soul, and body—showing how deliverance and blessing flow only when these align under God’s rule. Synopsis: In Altar in the Midst, Pillar on the Border, Pastor Marcos explores Isaiah 19:19–25, where the prophet describes a time when Egypt, Assyria, and Israel will stand together as instruments of God’s blessing. While some view this as a reference to the Great Pyramid of Giza, Pastor Marcos emphasizes the deeper prophetic message—one that points to end-time events and personal spiritual deliverance. The nations themselves carry symbolic meaning: Egypt represents the flesh or worldliness, Assyria signifies the soul of the nations, and Israel symbolizes the spirit—the inheritance of God. Just as Scripture foretells these nations aligning in blessing, believers are called to bring their body, soul, and spirit into harmony before God. Deliverance is pictured in the progression of Isaiah 19, where idols fall, inner wars expose demonic strongholds, and the heart is faced with a choice: cling to sin or embrace freedom in Christ. Pastor Marcos parallels Egypt’s cry for deliverance from oppression with the believer’s own cry for freedom from spiritual bondage. Just as God promises to strike and heal Egypt, the Lord strikes the flesh with conviction and discipline so that it might be healed and reconciled to Him. The altar in the midst and the pillar on the border represent the believer’s inner consecration to God and the outward testimony of faith that stands as a witness to the world. Ultimately, the prophecy not only points to the coming Messianic rule over all nations but also reminds the Church of its role: to bear the pillar of truth and maintain an altar of devotion in the heart. Deliverance, alignment, and blessing come when God is enthroned in every dimension of life—spirit, soul, and body—just as the nations themselves will one day be aligned in His kingdom reign. Written teaching: Isaiah 19:19 “In that day there will be an altar to the Lord in the midst of the land of Egypt, and a pillar to the Lord at its border.” Although the above end time prophecy, which some believe is a direct reference to the pyramid of Giza, which straddles the border of old Egypt between north and south, and which also stands in the midst of the entire nation today, it's a future prophecy that details the condition of three middle eastern nations at a specific point in time, as our next verses show. Isaiah 19:23-25 “In that day there will be a highway from Egypt to Assyria (through the land of Israel), and the Assyrian will come into Egypt and the Egyptian into Assyria, and the Egyptians will serve (the Lord in Israel) with the Assyrians. In that day Israel will be one of three with Egypt and Assyria—a blessing in the midst of the land, whom the Lord of hosts shall bless, saying, ‘Blessed is Egypt My people, and Assyria the work of My hands, and Israel My inheritance.’” Now I believe that there is an extremely relevant spiritual connection to all that is been manifested in the physical unfolding of this prophecy. The nation of Israel today borders the land of Egypt on its west side, and the land of Syria on its northeast side, where the Assyrian nation was located on Isaiah’s day. Both the nation of Egypt and the Syrian nation are experiencing great turmoil as of this writing, which is clearly setting the stage for what the Lord is getting ready to do as we approach the days of the end of the age. But I couldn't help but notice how the Lord intends for this trinity of nations to convey a message of an end time blessing, in the midst of the land, that would have great spiritual repercussions as well. We know that Egypt is often used as a metaphor for the world or the flesh, but in this case the Lord calls the Egyptians whom He is blessing, My people, and to the Assyrians whom He is blessing as well, He refers as, The work of My hands. And Israel He calls, My inheritance. God formed Adam’s body from clay but that clay did not animate until God breathed into the nostrils He fashioned on the clay, it was then that man became a living soul, the work of God’s hands, His inheritance whom He placed on the garden to tend it and to keep it. We see in Ezekiel 38-39 how the reinstituted nation of Israel cries to God that their bones are dried and in need of a spiritual rebirth. Could it be that this is what is taking place right now? The mechanics that will bring about a physical tri-unique alignment that would serve as a sign to the nations before the end time blessings are restored. Isaiah 19:20 “And it will be for a sign and for a witness to the Lord of hosts in the land of Egypt; for they will cry to the Lord because of oppressors, and He will send them a Savior and a Mighty One, and He will deliver them.” How can we not understand the sign of the cry of the Egyptian nation where as many as fifteen million people took to the streets and asked for deliverance from oppressors? It is so hard for me to understand the logistics required to accommodate millions of people on the streets when just a few thousands leaving a stadium, where a game was played, can put so much stress on a city’s infrastructure, but it happened. If Egypt is representative, spiritually speaking, of the physical body or the entire world, and if Assyria, which encompassed Lebanon as well as the Syria and Iraq and Jordan of today in Isaiah’s day, represents the soul of the nations, and if Israel which represents the spiritual center of the earth, with Jerusalem as its capital, what does their aligning together mean for us today? It means that the great world wide rule of Messiah that takes place in the age that is soon to come is nearing fast. The spiritual implications for us, as far as deliverance is concerned is this; the blessings of deliverance for us individually cannot come until we align ourselves, the trinity of our spirit, soul, and body as one in our midst and in the border thereof or our outer self. Let us look at the physical progression of how Egypt, which represents the flesh, its prepared by the Lord to erect Him an altar in her midst and a pillar to the Lord in its border or outer semblance. Isaiah 19:1 “The burden against Egypt. Behold, the Lord rides on a swift cloud, and will come into Egypt; the idols of Egypt will totter at His presence, and the heart of Egypt will melt in its midst.” When a person becomes born again, they do so by accepting the Spirit of God who rides swiftly into their hearts as they repent, which causes a commotion among the idols that that person has erected in their souls. Immediately a civil war breaks out within that person’s heart that has just being converted, for there can be no fellowship between the Spirit of God and idols. Isaiah 19:2 “I will set the Egyptians against the Egyptians (demons against demons); everyone will fight against his brother, and everyone against his neighbor, city against city, kingdom against kingdom.” This war within has more than one purpose, first, it takes place for the purpose of exposing the demonic infrastructures and the strongholds within the human soul that has just being converted. Secondly, by dividing these demonic entities, it causes those spirits to fail in their struggles to hold onto the person that is being delivered, by making them weaker as they struggle against one another to hold on. Thirdly, it reveals to the person being delivered the connection that these demonic entities, that the person being delivered might not even known existed, had to the rulers of the darkness of this world. Isaiah 19:3 “The spirit of Egypt will fail in its midst; I will destroy their counsel, and they will consult the idols and the charmers, the mediums and the sorcerers.” This is when the person that is being delivered has to make a choice, do they hold on to these demonic hordes that have being the enablers of their flesh up to this point, or do they renounce them and decide that they do not want them to be part of their lives any more? Jesus told us that when a demon is driving out of a person, that demon goes about wondering through dry places, seeking rest and finding none. So it returns to see if it can get back into the house, the body that it was cast out of, if the demon sees an opening, it goes out and finds seven demons more powerful than himself and enter into the person he was cast out of, and the condition of that person becomes worst. Jesus also told us that if after a person that has being forgiven the debt of sin that they could not ever repay, that if they fail to forgive others their trespasses against them for whatever reason, that such a person would be handed over to the tormentors until their debt was pay, the debt which they could not pay to begin with. Isaiah 19:4 “And the Egyptians (the flesh that refuses deliverance) I will give into the hand of a cruel master, and a fierce king will rule over them, says the Lord, the Lord of hosts.” So that the spiritual and the physical mirror each other. What we see transpiring today on the global and national news is pretty much a reflection of that which is taking place within the souls of the inhabitants of the nations. Those who reject the Gospel of Jesus Christ as nonsense are lost and without hope, despair and hopelessness defines them, and they really do not have a clue as to how much is at stake if they do not wise up. On the other hand we have those who know about the Gospel of Jesus Christ, but are enemies of the cross, so they work feverishly to oppose, and to pervert the truth of the Gospel, lest those who hear it will come into the liberating knowledge of God’s love for them. And then, we have the workers of iniquity, those who trade in the commodities of the underworld, who for a piece of hell’s pot sell their souls to the devil and become active in recruiting out of humanity, fodder for the devil’s cannons. They pervert society to reflect their own tormented souls, they push drugs, perversion, idolatry, misconduct, mayhem, pornography, violence, and every enslaving thing that would gain them favor with their demonic masters, with whom they will be sharing eternal torment. But to us it falls to reveal through our outer walls, or borders, what is on the altar which we have erected in our hearts to our God, that which has become a pillar of our continuance in the grace of God. We continue to proclaim the grace of God in love, knowing full well that God is not willing that any should perish, but that all should come to repentance. So that for the sake of the Gospel we are willing to endure ridicule and shame, when we are reviled we respond with a prayer of grace on behalf of those who chose to persecute us. Isaiah 19:21 “Then the Lord will be known to Egypt, and the Egyptians will know the Lord in that day, and will make sacrifice and offering; yes, they will make a vow to the Lord and perform it.” What a beautiful symbol of the deliverance that awaits our flesh, it says that the Lord will be known to our flesh, and that our flesh will know the Lord on that day; and the sign that our flesh knows the Lord and that its known of the Lord is that it will be able to make a vow to the Lord and keep it. What that means is that when our flesh is reviled for the testimony that it holds, we will offer the sacrifice of praise unto our Lord and will offer a sincere prayer on behalf of those who do the reviling. Do you want to know what happens to those people that we pray for even after they revile us and persecute us? The Lord strikes them with kindness. Isaiah 19:22 “And the Lord will strike Egypt, He will strike and heal it; they will return to the Lord, and He will be entreated by them and heal them.” Oh, what a mighty God we serve, how awesome is His mercy and how boundless is His grace! His wisdom is unsearchable and His power to heal us is unending! I love You my sweet Jesus, Your love overwhelms me, Your presence in my life humbles me, and Your Word satisfies all my needs for ever! Previous Next
- SPIRITUAL JOY | House of Faith Ministries (HoFM)
< Back SPIRITUAL JOY Pastor Marcos Marrero Objective: The objective of this teaching is to help believers understand that true spiritual joy is not dependent on life’s circumstances but flows from the eternal gift of salvation in Christ Jesus. Pastor Marcos emphasizes that this joy is irrevocable, unshakable, and rooted in the immutability of God’s promises. Through Scripture, he shows that spiritual joy is both a present reality for the believer and a foretaste of eternal pleasures at God’s right hand. Synopsis: In Spiritual Joy, Pastor Marcos explores Psalm 16:11 as the foundation for understanding the fullness of joy found in God’s presence. He explains that spiritual joy is inseparable from spiritual life—unlike worldly happiness, which is fleeting and circumstantial. Spiritual joy endures because it is anchored in the gift of eternal life, which God has declared irrevocable (Romans 11:29). Pastor Marcos highlights Peter’s sermon on Pentecost (Acts 2), where he connected the resurrection of Jesus to David’s prophecy in Psalm 16. This fulfilled promise revealed that death was conquered, eternal life secured, and joy made possible for all who believe. Spiritual joy is not just inward but manifests outwardly, producing rejoicing and thanksgiving among God’s people (Psalm 118). The lesson also underscores that God’s covenant is unchangeable: He cannot lie and will not change His mind about salvation (Hebrews 6:18; 7:21). Therefore, believers can rejoice even in trials, knowing that the Lord is always on their side, their salvation is secure, and His mercy endures forever. Pastor Marcos provides practical reasons for joy—God’s goodness, His mercy, His deliverance in times of trouble, His help against enemies, His fatherly discipline without disowning, and the promise of eternal life. Ultimately, the believer’s confidence and joy rest in God’s unchanging character and the finished work of Christ. Spiritual joy flows from a wellspring of salvation, bringing strength, peace, and praise that transcends every situation. Written teaching: Psalm 16:11 “You will show me the path of life; In Your presence is fullness of joy; At Your right hand are pleasures forevermore.” Spiritual joy comes as the direct result of spiritual life, you cannot separate them, where there is no spiritual life there is no spiritual joy. We maybe very happy due to our position in life, but our position in life is not the source for spiritual joy, for if our position in life changes for the worse, then our reason for happiness is removed. Not so with spiritual joy, once you have it you can never lose it. For our joy is based on the gift of eternal life, and God’s gifts are irrevocable. Romans 11:29 “For the gifts and the calling of God are irrevocable.” In the day of Pentecost Peter began to preach to the multitudes who had gathered around the disciples after a tornado, a rushing mighty wind, had settled over and filled the house where they were praying. Peter told the crowd that they were witnessing that which the prophet Joel had prophesied about as being the mission statement of the newly born church of our Lord Jesus Christ; and this is what Peter told them: Acts 2:22-25 “Men of Israel, hear these words: Jesus of Nazareth, a Man attested by God to you by miracles, wonders, and signs which God did through Him in your midst, as you yourselves also know—Him, being delivered by the determined purpose and foreknowledge of God, you have taken by lawless hands, have crucified, and put to death; whom God raised up, having loosed (destroy or abolished) the pains of death, because it was not possible that He should be held by it.” Peter gets right to the point and tells the multitudes that the Jesus that they’ve crucified and killed, is the very One whom God had appointed to destroy the pains of death itself, for Peter tells them that it is impossible for death to keep hold of the Author and Sustainer of Life. Then the very next Scripture that he quotes to them is from Psalm 16, our opening text; Peter tells them that when David wrote Psalm 16 he was not speaking about himself, but about Israel’s future Messiah, and plainly tells them that the fulfillment of David’s prophecy has been accomplished by the resurrection of Jesus of Nazareth from the dead. Acts 2:27 “For You will not leave my soul in Hades, nor will You allow Your Holy One to see corruption.” Psalm 16:10 “For You will not leave my soul in Sheol, nor will You allow Your Holy One to see corruption.” The point that Peter is trying to make to them is that death has been conquered by Jesus going to the cross, and that the path or way for eternal life had been made known to man, and that is the very reason why we have joy. Acts 2:28 “You have made known to me the ways of life; You will make me full of joy in Your presence.” Psalm 118:14-15 “The Lord is my strength and song, and He has become my salvation. The voice of rejoicing and salvation is in the tents of the righteous; the right hand of the Lord (Jesus) does valiantly.” Psalm 118 is the center chapter of the Bible; it is preceded by the shortest chapter in the Bible and it is followed by the longest chapter in the Bible, I guess that we can call it the long and the short of it. The center verses of chapter 118 and of the Bible itself, speaks of how the Lord has become our salvation and how that is our reason for rejoicing. Although I called it Spiritual Joy it is very much physically present within all true believers. The reason why I called it spiritual is because this joy is independent of whatever our physical situation might be. I also stated the this joy is a gift from God and that His gifts are irrevocable. Let me enumerate a few reasons as to why we should all be rejoicing in this joy that emanates from our born again spirit and permeates every fiber of our souls. Psalm 118:1 “Oh, give thanks to the Lord, for He is good! For His mercy endures forever.” He is good! We know that, for He saved us from all our sins, but let us remember also that His mercy towards us is everlasting. In the letter to the Hebrews we are told that by two immutable things God established His covenant with us: Number one is that the God who cannot lie swore on an oath, number two, that He would not change His mind. This is very important, for from our human perspective we make commitments that are based on our present circumstances, and when those circumstances change, we sometimes find it reasonable to change our minds about our original commitment. We are tempted within our human nature to believe that God changes His mind about our salvation when the circumstances warrant it, but that way of thinking is not within God’s nature, and He wanted us to know that. Hebrews 6:18 “That by two immutable (unchangeable) things, in which it is impossible for God to lie…” Hebrews 7:21 “But He (Jesus) became a priest with an oath when God said to Him: ‘The Lord has sworn and will not change His mind: You are a priest forever.’” NIV So that our salvation is not dependent on our present or future situations, but rather in the immutability of the oath of the God who does not lie and who swore that He would not change His mind about our salvation that was entrusted to the Priesthood of Jesus. Now that is the headspring of the living waters of the well of salvation and the reason for our unshakable joy. Psalm 118:5-6 “I called on the Lord in distress; the Lord answered me and set me in a broad place. The Lord is on my side; I will not fear. What can man do to me?” So, what happens if in our daily walk we fall, falter, or fail? They that call upon the name of the Lord shall be saved, delivered into a broad place! What if I come under demonic attack? The Lord is on my side and will always be on my side. He promised and said that He would not change His mind, so therefore we have no fear, there is nothing that man can do to us in regards to our salvation. Now there is another reason for joy. Psalm 118:7 “The Lord is for me among those who help me; Therefore I shall see my desire on those who hate me.” The Lord is our vindication and our source of joy, for we know that while in this world we will have tribulations that are brought about by our enemies. But God is our present help in time of need and we know that He can be fully trusted. Psalm 118:17 “I shall not die, but live, and declare the works of the Lord.” What greater joy can a person have than being able to say with such great confidence, I am not going to die, I am going to live, and I will testify about God’s faithfulness. And here is the main reason why we can rejoice! Psalm 118:18 “The Lord has chastened me severely, but He has not given me over to death.” It is true that the Lord is our Father and as such He will chasten us, for we are not illegitimate children, BUT HE WILL NEVER DISOWN US! It is no wonder that there is so much praise and joy as the Psalm comes to a close: Psalm 118:28-29 “You are my God, and I will praise You; You are my God, I will exalt You. Oh, give thanks to the Lord, for He is good! For His mercy endures forever.” How can we not love a God that loves us so much? How can we not rejoice when we have a merciful God like Him for our Father? At Your right hand are pleasures forevermore! Previous Next
- DELIVERANCE IS FOR LIFE | House of Faith Ministries (HoFM)
< Back DELIVERANCE IS FOR LIFE Pastor Marcos Marrero Objective: The objective of this teaching is to help believers understand that deliverance, like salvation, is not a one-time event but a lifelong journey of freedom in Christ. Pastor Marcos emphasizes that deliverance addresses not only sin but also the consequences of sin, and that believers must learn to recognize and overcome strongholds through forgiveness, covenant trust, and the fruit of the Spirit. The goal is to equip Christians with a mindset of continual victory, rooted in God’s unchanging promises, that transforms both their personal walk and their ministry toward others. Synopsis: In Deliverance is for Life, Pastor Marcos Marrero explores the biblical truth that God carries His children from the womb to old age, promising continual deliverance (Isaiah 46:3-4). Many Christians mistakenly view deliverance as a one-time breakthrough, yet Pastor Marcos shows that true deliverance is an ongoing process tied to salvation itself—salvation frees us from sin, while deliverance frees us from its lingering consequences. He explains that sin has two edges: separation and consequence. Through Christ, who is both faithful to forgive and just to cleanse, believers can experience complete restoration. Forgiveness, however, does not always restore trust, and many struggle with offenses because they confuse forgiving with trusting. Pastor Marcos teaches that forgiving is an act of obedience to God’s Word, not a reliance on human flesh, and that true deliverance requires shifting focus from the offender to the spiritual strongholds influencing their behavior. By exposing the battle between selfish ambition (self-centered idolatry) and self-control (fruit of the Spirit), he encourages believers to stop taking offenses personally and instead intercede for those bound by strongholds. Such prayers, birthed by the Spirit, align with Christ’s command to love, bless, and pray for those who hurt us (Matthew 5:44-45). Pastor Marcos stresses the security of God’s covenant: unlike human relationships that can break under repeated offenses, Jesus swore never to leave nor forsake His children. This assurance empowers believers to forgive continually and extend grace, knowing God’s promises are unchangeable. Ultimately, Deliverance is for Life calls Christians to reject selfish ambition, embrace self-control, and trust in God’s unwavering commitment to carry and deliver them. Every offense becomes an opportunity for double victory—freedom from personal hurt and the chance to minister deliverance to others. In this way, past wounds no longer define believers but become platforms for testimony, demonstrating that all things work together for good to those who love God (Romans 8:28). Written teaching: Isaiah 46:3-4 “Listen to Me, O house of Jacob, and all the remnant of the house of Israel, who have been upheld by Me from birth, who have been carried from the womb: even to your old age, I am He, and even to gray hairs I will carry you! I have made, and I will bear; even I will carry, and will deliver you.” Those who go through the deliverance ministry, sometimes think that it is a one-time proposition because of the great results that they received after being delivered from a stronghold that held them back for so long. But in reality, deliverance, like salvation, is a lifelong process that involves every believer, even if they have not gone through ministry under a well-trained deliverance team. Not every believer has a stronghold in their lives so powerful that needs outside help in order for them to break loose from it. In this lesson I want to deal with the ministry of deliverance itself and the different kinds of strongholds that afflict so many of God’s children today. Deliverance and salvation are synonymous in the sense that we all need to be saved, and we all need to be delivered. Salvation saves us from our sins. Deliverance saves us from the consequences of our sins. There is a difference, and awareness of that difference can make all the difference in the world, pardon the pun. 1 John 1:9 “If we confess our sins, He is faithful and just to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness.” Sin is a double edge sword that cuts both ways, brings separation, and condemnation/consequences. Jesus, the two-edged sword Word of God who became flesh is faithful and just; faithful to forgive us our sins, and just to cleanse us from the consequences of our sins. We can never understand deliverance until we understand the two sides of sin. Let’s say that a person sins against another person, let’s call that sin a violation of trust. Let’s say that the offender repents and asks the offended person to forgive them and let us say that the offended person truly forgives them, it does not necessarily mean that the person that got hurt and forgave the trespasser, will be able to trust them again even if they wanted to, because within our nature we do not like to get hurt. During ministry, many a time I heard the injured party say to me that they cannot let go of the offense. They know that the Scriptures compels them to forgive the offender, yet the pain is so real to them that they cannot bring themselves to forgive because they equate it with having to put their trust on the offender only to get hurt all over again. Forgiving does not mean trusting in their flesh! Philippians 3:3 “For we are the circumcision, who worship God in the Spirit, rejoice in Christ Jesus, and have no confidence in the flesh.” God does not put any confidence in the flesh and neither should we, but if we want to worship God in Spirit, and rejoice in Christ Jesus, we must be obedient to His Word. That is if we want to be delivered from our inabilities to trust again and be free from the fear of getting hurt. We need a basic understanding of how Jesus is faithful to forgive us, and how He is just to cleanse us from our repeated offenses that just won’t let us go, because of the stronghold that they have over our actions. It all begins with us putting our trust in the covenant! Hebrews 6:18 “That by two immutable (unchangeable) things, in which it is impossible for God to lie (And He also swore that He would not change His mind 7:21), we might have strong consolation, who have fled for refuge to lay hold of the hope set before us.” In the covenant that allows Jesus to be faithful to forgive us our sins and just to cleanse us from their consequences, we find that the God who cannot lie swore on an oath that He would not change His mind. Here is what it means: when we forgive, we do so in the expectation that the offender will not hurt us anymore by violating our trust once again. If they continue to hurt us after we have truly forgiven them, we, rightly so, change our minds and break away from fellowship with them, and the offender bears the consequences of their sins against us by being deprived of our communion with them, for that might be the only way that we can keep them from hurting us. So that in our natural way of thinking we see our relationship with Jesus in the same frame of mind, since we keep sinning against His Word because of a stronghold in our lives, we derive that He changes His mind toward us and does not want to be around us anymore. Although our hurting others will keep people away from us, we can never drive Jesus away from us, because He promised us that He would never leave us nor forsake us, and He swore an oath that He would not change His mind. So that if we want to see ourselves in the way that Jesus sees us, we need to see those who continue to offend us as Jesus sees them. It is the spirit of Selfish Ambition against the spirit of Self Control! When someone hurts us, our natural response is, they hurt me. We hardly realize that the person hurting us is so hurt that they just simply hurt back others just so that in their minds they get even somehow, that is how the spirit of Selfish Ambition works. It is self-centered. If in the other hand we realize that the person hurting us is under the control of a spiritual stronghold, especially when they have repented in the past and come back and hurt us again, then our mind set can be one of Self Control. For our emphasis is now on the spiritual condition of the offender instead of our own hurt that we are experiencing by their actions against us. In spiritual warfare, once the spirit behind the offense is exposed, that lays the foundation for our victory over them. So that every time that we are offended we have an opportunity for a double victory. If we do not take the offense personal, we do not get hurt, for we say to ourselves, this is not about me...they are the ones that have a problem. Then we can direct our focus to the person that needs to be set free from their strongholds. We can do that by putting them on our prayer list and asking Jesus on a regular basis to bring deliverance into their lives, or if a door is opened for us to minister to them, because we did not take it personally when they hurt us. Then we can lead them into the truth that Jesus loves them and will never leave them no matter what, and if they see that demonstrated in us, they will know that it is for real. How do we identify strongholds? Selfish Ambition is always rooted in idolatry, and at the heart of idolatry is self-worship, for it cries this is all about Me. When we get offended it is because Me got in the way. But how can I keep from getting hurt you may ask? Next time that you get offended ask yourself this question, Who is offending Me, the person or a spirit within the person? If your answer is, it is the person, then it becomes personal to you, it also becomes a trap for your soul. For Jesus died for that person’s soul just as much as He died for your own soul, and now you find yourself embroiled in a dispute with a person that was created by God and in the image of God. But if your answer is, it is the spirit within that person that is offending me, then now you become one with Jesus in the indignation that one of His creatures has been taken captive by the devil to do his will. So that your prayer to Jesus would go something like this: Dear Lord Jesus, look what that spirit is doing to your child, please Lord set them free! We may not realize it, but that is probably one of the most powerful prayers that we will ever pray. For a prayer like that cannot come from us, but from the Spirit of God that dwells within us. Matthew 5:44-45 “But I say to you, love your enemies, bless those who curse you, do good to those who hate you, and pray for those who spitefully use you and persecute you, that you may be sons of your Father in heaven; for He makes His sun rise on the evil and on the good, and sends rain on the just and on the unjust.” How can we be different if we behave like the rest of the world? In our opening Scripture God says that from the womb, even to our old age He carries us, and ends by telling us that He will deliver us. What that means is that whatever happened to us, no matter how bad, or how evil, how unthinkable, or how depraved, He will deliver us! We can on one hand, blame our past for our present circumstances and lash out at others from the midst of our wretched condition; on the other hand, we can use those past experiences as a platform to launch our deliverance mindset that in everything, all things always work out for our own good, because He loves us and He carries us to victory no matter what. Romans 8:28 “And we know that all things work together for good to those who love God, to those who are the called according to His purpose.” All we have to do is reject Selfish Ambitions and embrace His spiritual fruit of Self Control. - THEREFORE WE HOPED | House of Faith Ministries (HoFM)
< Back THEREFORE WE HOPED Pastor Marcos Marrero 1900-01-01 Objective: The objective of Therefore We Hoped is to inspire believers to embrace hope as a daily, renewing force that empowers them to overcome failures, face life’s challenges with perseverance, and live in the fullness of God’s promises. Pastor Marcos Marrero seeks to show that hope is not only a spiritual gift but also a divine foundation for faith, joy, and peace, allowing Christians to rise each day with fresh strength through Christ. Synopsis: In Therefore We Hoped, Pastor Marcos Marrero presents a teaching on the biblical truth that hope is an indispensable gift from God, one that remains steadfast even when everything else is lost. Using Romans 15:13 as the foundation, he explains that hope is the divine key to living with confidence in God’s promises, filling believers with joy, peace, and strength through the Holy Spirit. The teaching highlights the transformative nature of hope, describing it as a “default setting” within every believer that allows them to start anew each day, leaving behind past failures. Pastor Marcos ties this renewal to the principle of “dying daily” (1 Corinthians 15:31), teaching that surrendering selfish desires makes room for God’s better plan, which brings lasting fulfillment. Through biblical examples, such as Abraham’s faith “against all hope” (Romans 4:18), and practical illustrations, Pastor Marcos shows how hope fuels perseverance, repels bitterness, and nurtures faith. Hope not only sustains the Christian walk but also empowers believers to rise again after setbacks, seeing each new day as a fresh opportunity in God’s mercy (Lamentations 3:22–23). Ultimately, Therefore We Hoped emphasizes that hope is rooted in God’s Word, sustaining believers until Christ’s return. No matter how many times they stumble, what matters most is that they are found holding on to hope—because in the end, therefore we hoped! Written teaching: But also, if we die daily, that means that we start anew daily. So that hope springs new and eternal every morning, leaving yesterday’s failures, and the thoughts about them, behind. Romans 15:13 “Now may the God of hope fill you with all joy and peace in believing, that you may abound in hope by the power of the Holy Spirit.” What is hope made of? According to our opening Scripture the God of hope is able to fill us with all joy and peace in believing, and it is also able to endue us with power from the Holy Spirit. We could say that hope is the key ingredient that allows us to live a life that is confident and secured in the promises that God has given to each and everyone of us. When all else is lost, hope remains! As a matter of fact, hope even triumphs in those who feel that they have lost all hope—when against all hope, they hope anyway. Romans 4:18 “Who, contrary to hope, in hope believed…” We get a sense then, that hope is that indispensable gift that remains, even after all else is lost. So that if we had to choose which of the many qualities that makes up hope is the greatest, undoubtedly, we would all agree that the fact that hope can never be truly lost is the greatest of all of its qualities. We could say then that hope is like a default setting that has been placed inside each and everyone of us. No matter how much we mess up and deviate from God’s original plan for our lives and therefore end up losing everything, we can always turn to the default setting of hope and start all over again. Hebrews 11:1 “Now faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen.” The seed of hope brings forth a blooming faith. Were it not for hope, no one could start a new life after wasting a previous one. In order for a new beginning to be successful it has to start in a positive note, so hope brings not only faith, but joy and peace as well. We could say then that hope is a repellent against bitterness, anger, and fear, all those things that would hinder a new beginning. Now here is a mystery, how can hope and a new beginning be part of my daily Christian walk? 1 Corinthians 15:31 “I affirm, by the boasting in you which I have in Christ Jesus our Lord, I die daily.” The salvation of our souls requires that we die daily to ourselves and that we also die daily to our own selfish desires. The only way that a person is able to truly die daily to their own self-interests is if they live their lives in the hope that Christ’s plan for their lives is better for them, than the plan that this world is offering them. So that our hope of a better life from Christ, brings to us the daily dose of faith that its needed to make it through each day, no matter what evil that day may bring with it. But also, if we die daily, that means that we start anew daily. So that hope springs new and eternal every morning, leaving yesterday’s failures, and the thoughts about them, behind. Lamentations 3:22-23 “Through the Lord’s mercies we are not consumed, because His compassions fail not. They are new every morning; great is Your faithfulness.” And that is the source of our joy and peace, the fact that we get a brand new start each and every day, for His compassions for us never fail. Think of a steep climb and of reaching the top of the hill as the goal. At the base we start with two climbers, one is strong, powerful, and highly skilled in climbing difficult terrains, his only flaw is that if he falls just once, he has been known to give up the climb and quit. The other is prone to falling down, and not very skilled as a climber, but he has one great quality going for him, no matter how many time he falls, he will not give up the climb! Human nature gives up in the face of failure, however, hope thrives in the face of failure, for it does not carry failure over from one day to another, it sees each new day as a brand new start with an opportunity to conquer unconquered ground. Psalm 119:147 “I rise before the dawning of the morning, and cry for help; I hope in Your word.” The essence of hope, is that hope, is the essence of God and His Word. Romans 15:4 “For whatever things were written before were written for our learning, that we through the patience (perseverance) and comfort of the Scriptures might have hope.” It does not really matter what our last fall might be before the Lord returns to take us all home, the only thing that will matter then will be the fact that even in the face of our daily failings it was found that…. THEREFORE WE HOPED! Previous Next
- THE WORK OF GOD | House of Faith Ministries (HoFM)
< Back THE WORK OF GOD Pastor Marcos Marrero Objective: To help believers understand that the true work of God is to believe in Jesus Christ, the One He sent, and to recognize their immense worth in God’s eyes despite worldly systems and scientific ideologies that devalue human life. Through faith in Christ, believers are delivered from worthlessness and become profitable, purposeful, and empowered to serve God and others. Synopsis: In The Work of God, Pastor Marcos Marrero highlights John 6:29 where Jesus defines the ultimate work of God as believing in Him whom the Father sent. Pastor Marcos contrasts this truth with modern science’s attempts to diminish humanity’s significance by promoting evolution and human worthlessness, thereby detaching mankind from accountability to God. Drawing from Psalm 8, Isaiah 48, and the story of Onesimus in Philemon, the teaching emphasizes that although humanity may seem insignificant in comparison to the vastness of creation, we are of great value to God—so valuable that Jesus gave His life to redeem us. Worthlessness is a lie of the world system, designed to control and oppress. But deliverance through Christ restores worth, peace, and righteousness, making every believer profitable in God’s kingdom. Pastor Marcos also recounts Hannah’s bold cry, “I am not worthless!” from 1 Samuel, showing how faith transforms barren emptiness into fruitfulness. He stresses that the work of God requires personal belief in Jesus, surrendering to Him as Savior and Lord, entering a covenant of servanthood, and breaking free from generational curses. This lesson closes with powerful covenant prayers for salvation, surrender, service, and deliverance, offering believers a way to renounce worthlessness once and for all. By faith in Christ, we are redeemed, valuable, and empowered to live with divine purpose, bringing glory to God. Written teaching: John 6:29 “Jesus answered and said to them, ‘This is the work of God, that you believe in Him whom He sent.’” Perhaps the greatest disagreement between the Bible and today’s science is the import and position of man within the creation. As we look out into the vastness of deep space, and see the enormity of the cosmos, and as we try to fathom the distances that we cannot comprehend, it is easy for us to see mankind as rather irrelevant within the immensity of the creation, but we are not the first to feel that way. Psalm 8:3-4 “When I consider Your heavens, the work of your fingers, the moon and the stars, which you have ordained, what is man that You are mindful of him, and the son of man that You visit (give attention to or care for) him?” If we consider humanity by its size, or percentage, in relation with the rest of creation it is easy to see how one could ask the question, What is man? We could also ask the question, what is gold? Or what are diamonds? Don’t we move tons and tons of ore from deep out of the ground in order to extract a miniscule percentage of that which is very valuable to society? After all we move mountains to extract piles, as long as the commodity that we are seeking pays the cost of the investment and produces a profit in return. Isaiah 48:17 “Thus says the Lord, your Redeemer, the Holy One of Israel: I am the Lord your God, who teaches you to profit, who leads you by the way you should go.” The answer to the question what is man in the eyes of God? Is that we are extremely rare, in relation with the vastness of the creation, and therefore very valuable to Him. Science has spent and continues to spend incredulous amounts of money and effort to find life, any kind of life, somewhere in the universe to prove that we are not as rare and therefore not as valuable to God as the Bible teaches that we are. Why is that? In order to answer that question, we need to understand the difference between profit/worth, and worthlessness. If science could prove somehow that man was not created after God’s image, then they can reason that there is nothing that it is owed to God by man, if we just evolved. If you find something extremely valuable by the curve side, can you assume that it has no owner and thereby take it for yourself? That is why, I believe, science devalues human life by the teaching of evolution, so that they can take credit and own it if you will, we made ourselves this smart they say, without God, and by doing that they devalue human life to the point that ruthless dictators, religious zealots, and roving gangs, can continue to murder and destroy the beauty of human life without the feeling of owing anything for their crimes. You cannot have deliverance until you renounce worthlessness. The world system promotes human worthlessness so that they can control the masses, a human who values his or her own life, will not give themselves over to be exploited by others as easily. Philemon 10-11 “I appeal to you for my son Onesimus (worthless), whom I have begotten while in my chains, who once was unprofitable (worthless) to you, but now is profitable to you and to me.” Onesimus was a runaway slave that once belonged to Philemon who fled to Rome where he was converted under Paul’s ministry. Remember our opening Scripture where it declared that the work of God is for us humans to believe in Jesus whom God sent? Paul declares that the once worthless slave, who owed his name to the fact that he was a bad investment for his owner, after receiving Christ as his savior has now become profitable not just to Paul who led him to the Lord, but to Philemon as well, for now he is not a slave anymore to him, but a brother in the Lord who is profitable to all. Here is how the Lord teaches us to be profitable. Isaiah 48:18 “Oh, that you had heeded My commandments! Then your peace would have been like a river, and your righteousness (value) like the waves of the sea.” What makes us so valuable to God is the price that Jesus paid to redeem us from our sins. God commands us to believe in Jesus for that is the only way that we can ever become profitable, to us, to others, and to God. That is why the ministry of deliverance is so effective, for it is a tool that God uses to remove the spirit of worthlessness from those who accept Jesus Christ as their savior and Lord, and that God also uses to fill them with a brand new purpose for their lives, which they now live in service to others as unto the Lord. 1 Samuel 1:16 “Do not consider your maidservant a wicked (daughter of Belial/worthlessness) woman, for out of the abundance of my complaint and grief I have spoken until now.” Eli, the high priest, thought that Hannah was drunk as she was pouring her heart before God because she was barren and thereby considered worthless by many, when Eli accused her of being drunk, she cried out what in our present-day vernacular would be, I am not worthless! In a society that did not considered woman too highly, and faced with the fact that she was barren and therefore worthless to her husband’s progeny, accused by the priest of being drunk in church, yet this courageous woman dared to believe in a God who values human life, and offered Him the seed of her womb that was empty in the natural, but that by faith was so full of life. You see my friends, all that God needs in the natural is an empty womb, or an empty heart, but only if they fill their emptiness with the Spirit of Truth and thereby their void is filled with faith in the One who always keeps His promises. Once she cried out, I am not worthless, the high priest had no choice but to bless her with the peace of God, that Jesus promises to all who believe. 1 Samuel 1:17 “Then Eli answered and said, ‘Go in peace, and the God of Israel grant your petition which you have asked of Him.’” She went on to conceive and bore a son whom she lent to the Lord for life, she named him Samuel, and after that she had more children that the Lord blessed her with and that she raised herself. In her prayer of exaltation to the Lord she said this: 1 Samuel 2:1 “...My heart rejoices in the Lord; my horn (strength) is exalted in the Lord. I smile at my enemies, because I rejoice in Your salvation (deliverance).” Do you want to rid yourself once and for all of the spirit of worthlessness? You can do so right now, but there is the work of God that you will have to do: you are going to have to believe in Him whom He sent. Here are four prayers that you can pray. First you make Jesus your Savior, then you make Him Lord over your life, then you enter into a covenant with Him, a covenant to serve Him for the rest of your life. Then pray the prayer that breaks generational curses and get rid of worthlessness once and for all. All you need to bring is a broken spirit and a contrite heart, and God will fill you with His peace and will guide your steps forevermore. COVENANT OF SALVATION This prayer is to make Jesus your savior. Romans 10:9-10 “That if you confess with your mouth, ‘Jesus is Lord,’ and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved. For it is with your heart that you believe and are justified, and it is with your mouth that you confess and are saved.” Prayer (say this out loud): Father in heaven I confess Jesus as my Lord and savior and I believe in my heart that God raised Him from the dead. I believe that now I am born again, in accordance to your word. Amen! COVENANT OF SURRENDER This prayer is to make Jesus Lord over your life. II Timothy 2:19-21 “Nevertheless, God's solid foundation stands firm, sealed with this inscription: ‘The Lord knows those who are his,’ and, ‘Everyone who confesses the name of the Lord must turn away from wickedness.’ In a large house there are articles not only of gold and silver, but also of wood and clay; some are for noble purposes and some for ignoble. If a man cleanses himself from the latter, he will be an instrument for noble purposes, made holy, useful to the Master and prepared to do any good work.” Prayer (say this out loud): Lord Jesus I belong to you and I commit myself to turn away from wickedness. Lord search me to see if there be any wicked thing in me. Expose and remove everything in my life that will hinder you from total lordship over my life. Grant me the strength dear Lord Jesus to endure the purification fire. I pray that through your testing you will find in me, genuine faith. Amen! THE SERVANT’S COVENANT This is prayer is a petition to become a humble servant. John 12:26 “Whoever serves me must follow me; and where I am, my servant also will be. My Father will honor the one who serves me.” Prayer (say this out loud): Father in heaven I surrender all positions in life to you, in order to become Jesus’ faithful servant and to follow Him. This body is not my own, but it has been purchased with the blood of Jesus. I want to be in your perfect will Lord Jesus, let everything that I do bring glory and honor to you dear Lord. Teach me to be humble, train me to be your faithful servant. Amen! PRAYER TO REMOVE GENERATIONAL CURSES Prayer (say this out loud): Our Father who are in heaven, creator of heaven and earth, God the judge of all; in the name of Jesus your only Son I enter into Your heavenly court and publicly repent of all of my sins, and I ask for Your forgiveness in the Name of Jesus. Apply dear Lord I pray, the atoning blood of Jesus over all the sins in my life and the sins in my ancestor’s life that resulted in a curse. I repent of all of our disobediences and rebellions committed against Your Word. I now repent from and I renounce all the sins in my life and my ancestor’s life such as the sins of perversion, lust, cheating, lying, adultery, fornication, mistreatment of others, uncleanness, filthiness, wantonness, lewdness, and every perverted thing that was connected to our fallen nature. I now repent from and I renounce all the sins in my life and my ancestor’s life such as the sins of false religion, cults, reading of horoscopes, idolatry, witchcraft, divination, all occult involvements, seditions, heresies, sorcery, dissentions, and every demonic thing that was connected to our fallen nature. I now repent from and I renounce all the sins in my life and my ancestor’s life such as the sins of indecision, compromise, hatred, contentions, envy, gossip, murder, hostility towards others, hostilities towards my self, ill will towards others, ill will towards my self, and every divisive thing that was connected to our fallen nature. I now repent from and I renounce all the sins in my life and my ancestor’s life such as the sins of malfunction, failures, laziness, lack of responsibility, jealousies, outbursts of wrath, drunkenness, intoxication, addictions, dependencies, and every compromising thing that was connected to our fallen nature. According to 1 John 1:9 “If we confess our sins, He is faithful and just to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness.” Now that I’ve confessed all my sins, I ask for Your forgiveness and cleansing from all my unrighteousness and the unrighteousness passed to me through the iniquity of all my ancestor’s. Deliver me Lord and cleanse me by the power of the blood of my Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. I now take authority over the devil’s accusations against me. In accordance with the Word of God, I break and condemn any and every curse upon my life in the name of Jesus. I break all curses of poverty, lack, debt, destruction, sickness, death and vagabond. I break all curses on my marriage, family, children, and relationships. I break curses of rejection, pride, rebellion, lust, hurt, incest, rape, Ahab, Jezebel, fear, insanity, madness, and confusion. In the Name that is above every name, the Name of Jesus, I now break all curses affecting my finances, my mind, my sexual character, my emotions, my will, my intellect, and all my relationships. In the Name of Jesus I now break every hex, jinx, spell, and spoken curse over my life and my family’s life. I break every fetter, shackle, chain, cord, habit, and cycle that is the result of a curse. According to Galatians 3:13 I have been redeemed from the curse of the law by the sacrifice that Jesus offered on my behalf. Father in heaven I now exercise my faith in the blood that Jesus offered for my redemption, and I loose myself and my descendants from any and every curse. I claim forgiveness through the blood that Jesus offered for my sins and the sins of my fathers. All of my sins have been forgiven, so I now renounce all the works of Satan and their effect over my life, and my family’s lives, and I loose myself from every curse that came as a result of our disobedience and rebellion to the Word of God. I exercise my faith now in the Word of God: Romans 10:9-10, and I make confession with my mouth of the salvation, deliverance, healing and restoration that I believe in my heart is now mine, because of the resurrection of Jesus Christ from the dead. Therefore I confess that Abraham’s blessings are mine. I confess that I am blessed and not curse. I confess that I am the head and not the tail. I confess that I am above and not beneath. I confess that I am blessed coming in and going out. I confess that I am blessed by God, and what God has blessed cannot be curse. In the Name of Jesus and by the power of His shed blood, I now command spirits of Rejection, Hurt, Bitterness, Unforgiveness, Bondage, Torment, Death, Destruction, Suicide, Fear, Lust, Perversion, Mind Control, Witchcraft, Poverty, Lack, Debt, Confusion, Double-mindedness, Sickness, Infirmity, Pain, Divorce, Separation, Strife, Contention, Depression, Sadness, Loneliness, Self-Pity, Self-Destruction, Self-Rejection, Anger, Rage, Wrath, Anguish, Vagabond, Abuse, Addiction, Insanity, Worthlessness, and the rest to COME OUT NOW in the Name of Jesus my Deliverer, and be forever gone, because all of your rights to torment me and my family have now been removed. Dear Father in Heaven, in the Name of Jesus Your only begotten Son, I now thank you for setting me and making me free from every curse and from every unclean spirit that had operated in my life as a result of curses. Thank You Jesus! Amen. Previous Next
- THE ANOINTED VOW | House of Faith Ministries (HoFM)
< Back THE ANOINTED VOW Pastor Marcos Marrero Objective: The objective of this teaching is to reveal the spiritual significance of making an anointed vow before God, and how His anointing works in harmony with His promises, timing, and purposes. It aims to show that salvation, calling, and consecrated vows are not forgotten by the Lord, but are sealed by His anointing, which continues to call out to Him until His Word is fulfilled in the believer’s life. Synopsis: The Anointed Vow examines the relationship between vows, anointing, and the divine timing of God’s promises. Using Jacob’s vow at Bethel as a foundational text (Genesis 31:13), Pastor Marcos explains that God always remembers anointed prayers and vows, even when believers forget them. He illustrates this truth through personal testimony, showing how a prayer for understanding prophecy was answered years later, on the exact anniversary of his vision of the rapture. The teaching outlines a clear process of divine fulfillment: Salvation – entering into God’s grace and being qualified for His purpose. Answering the Call – responding actively to His holy calling. Making a Vow – consecrating one’s life in surrender to God’s will. Following God’s Leading – obeying His direction faithfully. Forsaking the World – walking the narrow path of tribulation and rejecting false gospels of comfort. Pastor Marcos emphasizes that vows made in faith are sealed with God’s anointing, which acts like a spiritual watchman, continuously interceding before the Lord until the promise is fulfilled. Just as Jerusalem’s destiny has been proclaimed for millennia and is still being carried forward by God’s anointing, so too are believers’ lives carried by their anointed vows. Ultimately, this lesson teaches that the process of salvation, calling, vow, and anointing requires endurance and time, but it assures believers that God never forgets. His anointing guarantees that His purposes will be fulfilled in the lives of those who remain faithful. Written teaching: Genesis 31:13 “I am the God of Bethel, where you anointed the pillar and where you made a vow to Me. Now arise, get out of this land, and return to the land of your family.” There are many facets to God’s anointing and to the power that flows out of His anointing, in this lesson we will deal with the timing aspect of God’s anointing. Galatians 4:4 “But when the fullness of the time had come, God sent forth His Son, born of a woman, born under the law.” If you have been a Christian for a while, you know that the fulfillment of God’s promises always follows a clearly prescribed path. God gives us the promise, we believe in the promise that He gives us, and at the appropriate time we see its fulfillment take place in our lives. I believe that there is an aspect of God’s anointing, be it personal or corporal, that follows the same principle. Whenever we see a revival taking place, whether it be in a church, a city, or even a nation, it is the result of an anointed vow that persons made in the past concerning the areas where the revival is taking place. Keep this in mind, God always answers anointed prayers, even long after we have forgotten that we prayed them. I had a vision of the rapture that transformed everything in my Christian way of life back in February 12, 1989. As a result of the vision I searched desperately for a way to understand prophecy. Eight years to the very date, the book of Revelation finally made sense to me. I even wrote a book about it, it is called Man’s Final Destiny, where I put end time prophecy into the proper and understandable perspective as it is portrayed in the book of Revelation. I had gathered and compiled a great deal of notes and references while I endeavor to understand prophecy, along with those many notes I had a notebook where I had chronicled past daily reading of Scripture and the notes that I took while I was reading them. As I started to put those implements away since I now had the information that had eluded me all those years, I opened the notebook of past prayers to see where to store it, when an entry dated February 12 caught my eye, since this was the anniversary of my vision of the rapture. It turns out that years earlier before I had the vision of the rapture, I had read a Scripture in the book of Revelation and could not understand what it meant. I wrote the Scripture in the notebook and next to it I wrote an entry where I asked the Lord, would He please give me the ability to understand prophecy. So here I had evidence of a sincere prayer that I had prayed years earlier that I had forgotten, and God made sure that I would know that it was an answer to that simple prayer that I had prayed earlier by making the events to take place in the same calendar day. Both the vision of the rapture that compelled me to search and the day when it all finally made sense to me, fell on the anniversary of that simple anointed prayer. Genesis 28:17-19 “And he was afraid and said, ‘How awesome is this place! This is none other than the house of God, and this is the gate of heaven!’ Then Jacob rose early in the morning, and took the stone that he had put at his head, set it up as a pillar, and poured oil on top of it. And he called the name of that place Bethel (house of God); but the name of that city had been Luz previously.” Then Jacob proceeded to make a vow before the Lord, and it was in answer to the anointed vow that Jacob had made earlier that has our opening text where God tells him to, 'Now arise, get out of this land, and return to the land of your family'. The prayer, the vow, the anointing, in faith believing in God’s promises; it is all a process, and a process always requires the passing of time. But to be sure, no matter how long it takes, whether we remember or have forgotten, God never forgets, for it is the presence of the anointing that serves as watchmen that are always there to remind Him. Isaiah 62:6-7 “I have set watchmen on your walls, O Jerusalem; they shall never hold their peace day or night. You who make mention of the Lord, do not keep silent, and give Him no rest till He establishes and till He makes Jerusalem a praise in the earth.” We see the same principle at work in the verse above. Jerusalem’s destiny is to be the city of the Great King, for Jesus will rule the earth from there during His thousand-year reign, when He will make Jerusalem to become a praise in the earth. Now during Isaiah’s day that future reign was about twenty-seven hundred years away, we are almost there now, but all this time the anointing has not ceased to call out to God to perform it. In the same manner there is an anointing that covers each one of us who believes in His promises, that anointing is continuously calling out to God to perform that which He has promised to do for us. 1 John 2:20 “But you have an anointing from the Holy One, and you know all things (intuitively).” How do we sort all this out? We need to understand the process! 2 Timothy 1:9 “Who has saved us and called us with a holy calling, not according to our works, but according to His own purpose and grace which was given to us in Christ Jesus before time began.” First notice how Paul makes it clear that the holy calling is not according to our own works, but according to His own purpose and grace. Grace here means His gifts for us and that before time itself ever began. Step number one: We need to get saved! We need to understand that even before the creation, we were destined, and created to fulfill a purpose, His own purpose. Romans 3:23 “For all have sinned and fall short of the glory (our destiny) of God.” But since we all have inherited a corrupt nature, we need to get saved that is we need to become born again of an incorruptible nature. Once we become saved, we are now qualified once again to fulfill His destiny for us, which when we do, it is all to the glory of God. Colossians 1:12 “Giving thanks to the Father who has qualified us to be partakers of the inheritance of the saints in the light.” Step number two: We need to answer the holy calling! Matthew 22:14 “For many are called, but few are chosen.” The only ones chosen are the ones who answer the call, not just in word but in deed as well. Matthew 6:10 “Your kingdom come, Your will be done on earth as it is in heaven.” We answer the holy calling when we consecrate ourselves to bring about God’s kingdom upon this earth and His good and perfect will in our lives. Step number three: We make a holy vow before the Lord! Deuteronomy 12:26 “Only the holy things which you have (our holy calling), and your vowed offerings (our lives), you shall take and go to the place which the Lord chooses (which is His destiny for us). His salvation for us qualifies us to answer His holy calling, and in order for us to perform His holy calling in our lives, we need to take an oath of office if you will, and the only thing that we can bring into this oath is our positive answer to His call and a surrender of our lives to fulfill it. As we make a vow before the Lord, the Lord seals it with His anointing oil, which then continuously calls out to God to perform in us that which He originally destined us to be, as long as we stay the course. Step number four: He leads, and we follow! I pleasantly remember those early days of our Christian youth, when both, my wife and I would fall before the altar of our church whenever the Holy Spirit was moving in our midst, and there we would cry out to God: we will go where you want us to go, over mountains, over plains, over seas, and we will do what you want us to do! Other than to teach His Word, I never got any specific assignment or thing that I was to do, I just served in whatever area there was a need. But as I look back now I can see how important those early day vows were to our Lord. For it was there that the Lord placed His anointing over our lives that still directs our paths to this very day. Step number five: Forsake the world, Get out of this land! As the Lord told Jacob. Matthew 7:13-14 “Enter by the narrow gate; for wide is the gate and broad is the way that leads to destruction, and there are many who go in by it. Because narrow is the gate and difficult (confined) is the way which leads to life, and there are few who find it.” The allure of this world system is ease; live it up. Why should you suffer confinement instead of comfort? Keep it simple and avoid as much tribulation and persecution as you possible can. This so call gospel radiates out of many churches today, but Jesus warned us about this false gospel, not to fall for it. Matthew 7:15-16 “Beware of false prophets, who come to you in sheep’s clothing, but inwardly they are ravenous wolves. You will know them by their fruits. Do men gather grapes from thornbushes or figs from thistles?” Remember how the Lord told us that in this world we would have tribulation; so that the confinement of the true Gospel is the world’s aim, so that if we are suffering tribulation for the stand that we take, we know then that we are entering in the narrow gate and following the road of difficulties for that is His good and perfect will for us. - KINGS AND PRIESTS | House of Faith Ministries (HoFM)
< Back KINGS AND PRIESTS Pastor Marcos Marrero Objective: The objective of this teaching is to help believers understand the biblical foundation of spiritual and physical authority, the divine separation of powers instituted by God for humanity’s protection, and how in Christ, both kingship and priesthood are united. The lesson aims to show that through Jesus’ victory on the cross, believers are restored to operate in both realms—spiritual and physical—empowered to fulfill God’s purpose as kings and priests unto Him. Synopsis: In Kings and Priests, Pastor Marcos Marrero explores Revelation 1:6, highlighting God’s intent for His people to walk in dual authority—both physical (kingship) and spiritual (priesthood). From the beginning of creation, man was entrusted with these two realms of power, yet due to human pride and corruption, God separated them for humanity’s protection. In the Old Testament, kings ruled with physical authority while priests carried spiritual authority, symbolized by the Urim and Thummim, which provided divine guidance. The teaching traces key biblical moments where this division was tested: Saul’s downfall for usurping the priesthood, the rebellion at Babel, and Abraham’s choice in the King’s Valley between physical riches and spiritual covenant. Each example illustrates the danger of combining authority without God’s sanction, as unchecked power often led to oppression and destruction. Ultimately, Pastor Marcos explains that in Jesus Christ—who declared, “All authority has been given to Me in heaven and on earth”—both realms of power have been perfectly united. Unlike fallen man, Christ cannot be corrupted by absolute power. Through His cross and resurrection, He abolished the separation, granting believers access to both spiritual and physical authority under His lordship. This restored identity calls Christians to live as kings and priests, exercising authority with humility, advancing God’s kingdom, and discipling nations as commanded in Matthew 28:19-20. The message concludes with a call to embrace this divine commission: to walk in the fullness of Christ’s authority, balancing the spiritual and the natural, and to use this united power to bring light, truth, and deliverance to a world increasingly corrupted by humanistic and godless systems. Written teaching: Revelation 1:6 “And has made us kings and priests to His God and Father, to Him be glory and dominion forever and ever. Amen.” From the beginning of time God made it clear to His creation that there are two distinct levels of authority given to man; physical authority and spiritual authority. From the beginning of time fallen man made it clear to the creation that he cannot handle both powers without falling prey to the spirit of pride, the pride that rises up when this combined authority is given to a fallen human man. You might have heard this human saying: Power corrupts, and absolute power corrupts absolutely. The present history of the nations reveal the scars caused by madmen who were given too much power and fell into pride, and before their fall, they took along with them millions of lives and caused untold sufferings. As we study the Old Testament we see this power divided, not only in the way the kings of Israel and Judah ruled, but also in the way secular rulers governed their kingdoms; all kings availed themselves of the counsel of spiritual advisers called priests or seers. The reason why kings needed spiritual counsel was because God deprived them of spiritual revelation as long as they ruled as kings, thereby separating their physical power from the spiritual power. In other words, they had to depend on the judgment of somebody else in order to avail themselves of spiritual revelation. Exodus 28:30 “And you shall put in the breastplate of judgment the Urim and the Thummim (Lights and the Perfections), and they shall be over Aaron’s heart when he goes in before the Lord. So Aaron shall bear the judgment (decision making tools) of the children of Israel over his heart before the Lord continually.” When God brought the nation of Israel out of Egypt to give them their own land, He made provisions for them as to how their leaders were to handle both of these powers after they became a nation. The Urim and the Thummim were placed on the breastplate that the priest was to wear before he went into the Lord’s Presence, along with the twelve stones that represented each one of the tribes of Israel. The function of these two stones was to ask the Lord for guidance and direction in both physical and spiritual matters. That way, they could be certain that when the Lord answered them, that they had received perfect light or complete enlightenment as how to precede in any given matter. 1 Samuel 28:6 “And when Saul inquired of the Lord, the Lord did not answer him, either by dreams or by Urim or by the prophets.” It was not long after Israel became a nation, that they wanted to be ruled by a king like the other nations. They did not like the way that God had set up their government, for at that time they were ruled by priests, judges, and prophets. God had divided the power of their leaders to keep them from becoming dictators who imposed their own will over God’s people. Saul, who was their first king, violated this separation of powers that God had set up to protect Israel from oppression, and thereby, Saul lost his ability to receive direction from God. This lesson is about the interactions between spiritual and physical authority, the restrictions that God placed between them and why, and how God has restored back to the Man Jesus, all spiritual and physical authority, and how this dual authority has been made available to all of us who are believers of the resurrected Christ. Matthew 28:18 “And Jesus came and spoke to them, saying, ‘All authority has been given to Me in heaven and on earth (physical and spiritual).’” Before the flood of Noah’s day, interactions between the spiritual realm and physical realm were common, which led to the corruption of the entire human race, except for Noah and his children. After the destruction of the entire human race—except for the eight souls that God spared— God separated man’s ability to rule in both, the physical and spiritual realms through one man. After Nimrod lead a rebellion and built a tower to reach to the heavens, God extended the separation to include the common language of men so as to frustrate man’s ability to operate in both realms singularly. Is not that God does not want man to have rule over both realms, but rather to protect mankind from the dangers that the abuse of such great power ushers into society, when fallen men are empowered by them. Genesis 14:17-18 “And the king of Sodom went out to meet him (Abraham) at the Valley of Shaveh (that is, the King’s Valley), after his return from the defeat of Chedorlaomer and the kings who were with him. Then Melchizedek king of Salem brought out bread and wine; he was the priest of God Most High.” Abraham went to war in order to rescue his nephew Lot, who had been taken captive by an invading army. In his victory, Abraham also gained all the peoples that had been taken captive along with Lot. As Abraham returns with the spoils, he is met by the king of Sodom and the king of Salem in a place called the King’s Valley. What happened next determined the future of Abraham and the covenant that God made with him afterwards. As we look at it from the spiritual perspective, we notice that Abraham became a king—one who wields physical authority—by defeating other kings and taking the spoil away from them. As Abraham arrives to the Valley of the Kings, he is acknowledged by two other kings. The king of Sodom who was himself defeated by the kings that Abraham had just defeated, tells Abraham to keep all the spoils, and just return his people to him that had been taken captive by the invading army. He simply recognized the fact that Abraham was a greater king than he was. The other king is Melchizedek who offers Abraham bread and wine, which are the implements of a covenant. God gave Abraham a choice that day, when he ascended into the King’s Valley—between spiritual authority and physical authority—Abraham had to choose between becoming a king or a priest. Notice that Melchizedek was not only king of Salem, but he was also priest of the Most High God. Genesis 14:22-23 “But Abram said to the king of Sodom, ‘I have raised my hand to the Lord, God Most High, the Possessor of heaven and earth (the Possessor of all physical and spiritual authority), that I will take nothing, from a thread to a sandal strap, and that I will not take anything that is yours, lest you should say, “I have made Abram rich”.’” Two great things happened that day; first, Abram who was a spiritual man, recognized the division that God had set between physical and spiritual authority, and the fact that he could not have both. Secondly, he was quick to recognize that God was giving him a choice between the physical gains that he had earned in battle—gains which passes away—and a spiritual covenant of grace that endures forever. Romans 4:1-3 “What then shall we say that Abraham our father has found according to the flesh? For if Abraham was justified by works, he has something to boast about, but not before God. For what does the Scripture say? ‘Abraham believed God, and it was accounted to him for righteousness.’” The reason king Saul did not receive an answer from God when he inquired of the Lord, was because he took it upon himself to offer sacrifices to God, which is the ministry of the priesthood, thereby violating the separation of powers that God had ordained between spiritual and physical authority. Looking at the big picture, when God ordained spiritual authority that He established for the nations are usurped by those who rule over the physical realm, the blessings of God upon that nation dries up. As the Judeo-Christian principles upon which many of the western nations were established are replaced by the godless doctrines of secular humanism, the decline of western civilization increases to the point to where the rule of law becomes a choice that lawless leaders make. In the United States, the secular humanist have fought long and hard to remove any vestige of the Judeo-Christian principles upon which our founding fathers anchored the moral values and virtues that should govern our nation. We can measure the decline of our nation’s power and influence by the quantity of the moral values and virtues that it has rejected. We know that the secular humanist movement against the principles established by our founding fathers have succeeded by the fact that instead of receiving honorable decisions from our leaders that benefit the people, we get nothing but lies and deception from them. Looking at it from the individual point of view, we can see that for those of us who are in Christ, it has been granted to us to operate in the power of both, the physical and the spiritual realms. Ephesians 2:14-16 “For He Himself is our peace, who has made both one, and has broken down the middle wall of separation (between spiritual and physical power), having abolished in His flesh (Jesus is the only perfect human who cannot be corrupted by absolute power) the enmity, that is, the law of commandments contained in ordinances, so as to create in Himself one new man from the two, thus making peace, and that He might reconcile them both to God in one body through the cross, thereby putting to death the enmity.” What is the difference between us and those in the Old Testament? The cross! One cannot become a follower of Jesus unless we first, with Him, bear our very own cross. Death to self is the key that opens the door that allows us access to the united spiritual and physical power. Ephesians 2:18 “For through Him we both have access by one Spirit to the Father.” Those of us who have taken our infirmities and mortality to the cross of Jesus, we have the spiritual and the physical power that binds us together as a nation out of the many nations, for the deliverance of the nations. In the natural, the godless and their godlessness seems to be advancing, but in reality, by the decline that their godless deeds produce, the truth of the Gospel of Jesus Christ is made clearer and clearer to those who were fooled before into believing their dead humanistic doctrines. This is what Jesus said after He told us that all power in heaven and on earth had been given to Him, and this is what we should do in the face of all this godlessness that is going on, here is the antidote to all their lies: Matthew 28:19-20 “Go therefore and make disciples of all the nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, teaching them to observe all things that I have commanded you; and lo, I am with you always, even to the end of the age.” Amen.
